Zak uses a 10ga wire extension cord that is good for 100'. Do not ever let your cords stay wrapped up, fully extend the cords. 10 gauge cords are used for RV's and are good for 30 Amp draw.
I know pools are easy but you should do block walls the same hight of the house blocks maby a few inches under and build the dirt rite up to the top ad build a deck with a short railing fence to prevent rhem from jumping out. walkway around it. Then they will have 2 1/2 to 3ft of water to swim in, and its deep enough to get away from critters. Plus, it will look a lot better than pools and will be a selling point for the house in the future if it looked like a nice pond maby with a waterfall and some nice rocks maby a little tree i the middle. Plus if you build yourself and rent an excavator cinderblocks and cement to fill them and liners will probably cost about the same as the pools anyway but look aot better. Then just add ettas over the years. Dig the dirt out throw a gravel pad down, lay the 3 cinderblock walls with the house wall the 4th. Then add rebar and cement to fill the holes. Build the dirt up against the walls and add a liner.
