  • This is the long awaited second of my Young Indiana Jones re-edits! Titled "Indiana Jones and the Treasure of the Peacock's Eye" this movie is a combination of two episodes set at the very end of WWI and takes place between 1918-19. The story follows Indy and his friend Remy (Whom he met in my previous edit) as they discover a treasure map in the waning minutes of the First World War and set out to find "fortune and glory". This globe-trotting, treasure-hunting adventure is the closest the show came to doing a true Indiana Jones archaeological adventure like the original movies. In fact the artefact in question, the Peacock's Eye, is the diamond that Indiana is looking for thin the club at the beginning of Temple of Doom (the first movie chronologically). In fact this has been designed so that you can watch this as a prequel movie to Temple of Doom!
    So what has changed?
An entirely new opening sequence has been added. The original TV episode opens with an aerial shot of Indy and Remy making their way along a trench in search of an Indian officer while being shelled all around them, as the title and credits appear on screen. My edit introduces a new sequence from another episode "Trenches of Hell" to open the movie. We now begin with a fade from the Paramount ring of stars onto a ring of barbed wire and new title text, and follow a French officer as he prepares his men (including Indy) for an assault. The timer ticks down and the whistle blows, and hundreds of soldiers rush over the tops of the trenches and a huge battle ensues. New music is added here to heighten the stakes even more.
Shots of German mortars launching is used to transition into the original TV episode with Indy and Remy being shelled in the trench.
The episode continues from here with only minor additions of classic Indy movie tracks from John Williams.
The two return to England where Indy is discovers Miss Seymour has passed away (new music added as Indy is standing on the doorstep).
Indy returns to Remy who shows Indy he has had part of the map translated (new music added here too), and we transition using new music to the Museum where the curator tells them more about Alexander the Great and his famous diamond.
Using the last of their money, the two travel to Alexandria in search of the diamond where Indy meets back up with Howard Carter and runs into one of our villains of the movie: "Zyke", played by Ade Edmundson, who they follow on a boat all the way to Java.
Indy and Remy befriend a bar girl who seems to know Zyke and his associates to get information. Indy and Remy follow Zyke to a temple, and by using hidden clues in the map, they discover a small box, supposedly containing the diamond, but lose it to Zyke in a fight.
Zyke and his associates board a ship to leave Java and the bar girl is extradited and thrown onto the ship as well. Indy offers her a bunk in their cabin. I have cut a portion here where Indy and Remy argue about "who gets the girl" while she sleeps above them, as this isn't really necessary and instead keep the argument related to which of them is going to go and sneak into Zyke's room to steal the box back.
In the middle of this the boat is raided by pirates and Zyke is found dead and the box missing. Everyone is captured and interrogated by the Pirates who obtain the box as part of their plunder. Once the pirates leave, Indy, Remy and the bar girl rush to a dinghy to follow the ship to get it back.
This is where the original TV episode ends, and so I have spliced the two episodes together seamlessly as they float on the water at night in their dinghy.
They find the pirate ship, chaos ensues and ship blows up, with the pirates escaping in another row boat. Here there is a very basic shot of Indy using a telescope which just uses a black screen with a circular hole in the centre for some footage underneath as the view through the telescope. This is quite a poorly done effect and so I have re-masked the lens hole and added some chromatic aberration and distortion around the edges to make it look as though there is a glass lens refracting light, instead of it looking like Indy has his eye up to a piece of black card with a circle cut out of it.
Indy and Remy end up washed up on a desert island where they are met by the native inhabitants and befriend Polish anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowsky, who helps them.
The original TV episode fades to black and white as the Young Indy style credits begin. Here I have updated this to fit with the credits styles of the original Indiana Jones movies - a fade to black with white text scrolling upwards.
    Hope you enjoy the movie!

Yeah I wanted to make a couple of movies that act almost as direct prequels to the original films. That way you can watch my previous edit, this, temple of Doom, raiders and then all the rest in chronological order!

Never had seen this o n e before. It was a tip of the hat to the science of Anthropology and Archeology with adventure in strange places, dastardly treachery all to attain a priceless artifact.

I think the meeting of famous anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowsky at the end of the film and the discussions they have about what Indy actually wants is really the heart of the film. Its a great message. Follow your heart and achieve what you want to achieve. If you want o be an archaeologist then be an archaeologist - you don't need to go treasure hunting for a priceless diamond.

Not that good is being nice. The Big guy is as irritating as the shingles. I stopped watching several times before finishing this terrible movie. Definitely not Indiana Jones quality nor performance.
