  • Watch our overview video on Exodus 19-40, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In Exodus, God invites the Israelites into a covenant and comes to live among them in the Tabernacle, but Israel rebels and ruins the relationship.

My only thing is sneaking in woke terms like, "social justice". There is no such thing. It's a made up construct to accommodate the ridiculous nonsense going on in the secular world. Here's the true definition of justice:
      JUST'ICE, n. [L. justitia, from justus, just.]
      1. The virtue which consists in giving to every one what is his due; practical conformity to the laws and to principles of rectitude in the dealings of men with each other; honesty; integrity in commerce or mutual intercourse. Justice is distributive or commutative. Distributive justice belongs to magistrates or rulers, and consists in distributing to every man that right or equity which the laws and the principles of equity require; or in deciding controversies according to the laws and to principles of equity. Commutative justice consists in fair dealing in trade and mutual intercourse between man and man.
      2. Impartiality; equal distribution of right in expressing opinions; fair representation of facts respecting merit or demerit. In criticisms, narrations, history or discourse, it is a duty to do justice to every man, whether friend or foe.
      3. Equity; agreeableness to right; as, he proved the justice of his claim. This should, in strictness, be justness.
      4. Vindictive retribution; merited punishment. Sooner or later, justice overtakes the criminal.
      5. Right; application of equity. His arm will do him justice.
      6. [Low L. justiciarius.] A person commissioned to hold courts, or to try and decide controversies and administer justice to individuals; as the Chief Justice of the king's bench, or of the common pleas, in England; the Chief Justice of the supreme court in the United States, &c. and justices of the peace.
JUST'ICE, v.t. To administer justice. [Little used.]

Reading these Scriptures and then watching this video, it seems to me that God is extending to each of us the relationship we see in Moses with Him. Come up to the mountain and linger there until He reveals Himself in that transformational way He did with Moses. He is aglow with the Spirit of God - - he is filled with God's presence. If we are willing to give ourselves in devotion to Him, we can experience Him in this amazing relational way.

Hm... so Abigail, since you're clearly qualified to question God's judgment over sin, please explain this: it's a big mood when God holds his people accountable for wickedness, but it's perfectly normal (commendable even) for women to kill their innocent babies in the womb. Let me try and see your point: God doesn't have a right to take life that he gave (and in the case of the Israelites, fought to preserve through the miraculous exodus from an oppressive slave- driven empire), yet women today take life from the innocent everyday without any question or remorse, as if God isn't watching, as if God takes their life lightly. The fact that you're alive today isn't because you're any good or worth preserving, but because of God's nature because he alone is good, and his will for your life was not for it to be cut short. I guess you know the value of your own life better then God, but remember, someone else gave it to you in spite of your unworthiness to receive it, so I'd think twice before I call God's judgment a "mood". I'd revere it if I were you. God bless you and help you repent from your blasphemy.

I understood it represented God's presence, but I have to say, I always found the descriptions hard to visualize. So it made the chapters difficult to understand, if not downright boring. But when you break it down and say "The Tabernacle is like a portable Eden"!? NOW I get it. One line made these chapters suddenly more relevant to me. It suddenly clicked. Thank you BibleProject! ISAIAH 2 - EXODUS
“Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.” (Isaiah 2:8)
      Words By: Father
"Exodus means a mass departure. But a departure of what? For the Israelites it was a departure from Egypt to the promised land. But is it really a departure if the soul carries the Egypt heart? You can remove the people out of Egypt but it’s different moving Egypt out of the heart of man which is why the Israelites encountered the many troubles. The golden calf was just a fruit of their idolatry and an expression of their idol worship. The Church still carries this same attitude. It is the heart of idolatry by serving two masters - Me and the gods that please themselves. Cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches and lust of other things has become the modern day golden image and indeed many have given their hearts over to these idols and end up doing what Aaron did. Now it wasn’t that Aaron didn’t love Me, however complacency was in his heart and he ended up doing what all complacent people do - denying Me for the temporary.
I have called you out of the world and into My kingdom; but not to bring the world into My kingdom. I am not saying that you cannot desire things. But if the desire owns your heart and you cannot seem to live without it because you feel compelled to have it, then you must consider what it is that you are worshipping. These are desires you must let go of if you want to reach the promise land. You should never look back and think, “The world is also full of silver and gold and there is no end to their treasures.” If I have shown you the path, given you the miracles and offered you a kingdom, then what in Egypt could you possibly want? Cast your cares at My feet, remain faithful to My voice and I will be faithful to meet your every need."

      EXODUS
      Monday 17th August 2020
Father: "How do you deal with issues that you have been accustomed to your whole life, whether it’s sin, compromise, fears, or the general nature of your old man? The truth is you cannot unless you rid yourself of the gods that you place before Me, for this is the main hindrance and this is the problem the children of Israel faced in the wilderness. They had settled in a land full of idols and false gods for hundreds of years and to turn from this was a very difficult thing to do. In the same way, it is a difficult thing to change the state of your heart after living in the nature of the old man for so long. But it is not impossible you see. A heart that is willing to do what the first commandment states and have NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME, to him will have no issue denying other gods to put Me first.
But you must put this into context. To put Me first is not just a general attitude of believing in Me and saying with your mouth that you serve Me. Do you put Me first above your life? Your finances? Your comforts? Your opinions? Your heart’s desires? Your routines and the way you like to do things? Do you stop to consider what My opinion is? What My desire is? What My way is? Many say they live for Me but My definition of having no other gods before Me is not so the same. First means first above all, and once this is settled in your heart, then the issues in your life that need rectifying can be dealt with. The Israelites faced many issues because despite what I did for them, Egypt was still alive in their heart. If you desire to walk in the new, Egypt needs to die completely in your heart until only I become the one true God of your life, for this is the first commandment."

I'm sure you hear this all the time and what's one more person reiterating it but wow the artwork/storyboarding/narration is doing God's work, just amazing. I've relatively grown up hearing the OT stories and have read through Genesis and Exodus a few times during all my attempts to read through the Bible but I'm finding I still confuse the sequence of events (perhaps also bc I'm finally picking the Bible back up after a few decades of forgoing reading through 😅). Anyway, ty for piecing together the art and narration in a way that makes it helpful to remember but also to understand the "landscape"/timeline of the Bible. It is a dense Word and not the easiest to keep a handle on how everything is shaking out in relation to everything that's happened before/during/after the particular section I'm currently reading (in this instance, in Exodus) but these videos really help me and my lack of mental RAM for the continuously eventful exchange btw God and His people.

Good summary! I think another incredible aspect of Exodus is the fact that you go through Deja Vu with some scriptures in this book. God gives instructions to Moses, then Moses turns around and fulfills them as the Lord told him. It was an awesome demonstration of a servant listening to God for his glory.

Its amazing how the lessons of yesterday still relate today. God is the key to freedom!!!
