Troponin I (cTNL)
Normal: There is a wide range of normal values among varying institutions and texts with regard to Troponin I. It is essential to verify institutional norms. less than 0.035 ng/mL
Indications
Evaluating damage to heart muscle
Diagnose a Myocardial Infarction (MI)
Description:
Troponins are proteins that initiate contraction of muscle fibers. Troponin I (cTNL) is specific to heart muscle. Troponin levels stay elevated for a week after muscle damage before returning to normal.
What would cause increased levels?
Heart damage
Myocardial Infarction (MI)
What would cause decreased levels?
N/A
Seriously wish that CZcams had been around in 1991 when I was in nursing school!!
So do I.
Thank you sir
Thank you for the video! Are there any preparations that need to be done before? (Ex: NPO)
I'm a runner and had a little area of myocarditis a year ago which has cleared up. My right atrium and ventricle is a little enlarged. I keep getting blood tests during which times I've been training. A doctor is concerned as I had some values of 424, 271 after 5 days then 133 2 weeks later taken over space of a month as I had been told to cease training. How do you calculate this figure ?
It's hard to find this information which is...
What are side effects of troponin above normal levels.
I believe I had heart damage when I spent a day at riding rides at a theme park.
I began having multiple symptoms :
1. Increase heart palpitations
2. Increase thirst
3. Pins and needles sensation on my back
4. Euphoria
I didn't check in the ER until 4 days after
Troponin I is not specific to cardiac muscle as such; all muscle tissue contain troponin I. There are different isoforms of troponin I between cardiac & skeletal muscles.
🤔🤔🤔

What is a normal troponin I level? My test came back as 2234 and they said I had a heart attack. ECG was normal but BP was high at 179/109
I work on a cardiac telemetry unit and at our hospital, we consider anything below 0.035 normal but most people seem to be less than 0.01. I think whoever told you your troponin level might have forgot the decimal after 22. Now ive only been a RN for a little over a year but the highest ive seen was 66. Something and the second highest was 34.something. so your troponin would've been the 3rd highest if it was 22.34 if your ekg came back normal you probably had a Non ST elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) as opposed to a ST elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). Your BP is much too high and im sure they have put you on a beta blocker or something similar now. At our hospital we use metoprolol most commonly. A bp that high can put you at risk for many other health problems like stroke or congestive heart failure.
Just an update, since I wrote this post I have had a patient with a STEMI and their troponin was 419.
@Mona mona for most healthy people yes. Occasionally, some of my patients will have chronically elevated troponin levels but that is relatively uncommon and those patients typically have a chronic heart condition like congestive heart failure.
@Mona mona if
@Mona mona Troponin levels assist with a diagnosis. For example if you came in to the Hospital for chest pain and your troponin level is not elevated you can assume you probably did not have a heart attack. Whatever is causing that chest pain would likely be related to a different body system like a respiratory or epigastric problem. Many different ailments can have many of the same symptoms so when so certain levels like troponin are in the normal range you can eliminate or rule out that possible diagnosis. Hopefully this is making sense I just finished up my 3rd of 5 12 hour shifts in row and I'm a bit sleepy
Are you speaking about heart damage or are these ball scores your reading? If this is important, why not speak like it's important?
My thoughts exactly!
