I may have to watch twice...datt was a lot of info. Personally, I like the wider because in leaves a little more room width wise to move the crop. With drone footage, one can be a tad off so have the 'extra' isn't a bad thing.
It is 4K and UHD. 4K is for cinema, UHD is for television. Just like 2K and HD. It's the advertisers who called UHD 4K and this confusion between two 4K makes the urge to call real 4K by the name DCI 4K. They made a mess. Just stick by the real name and teach people about this.
If you want your aspect ratio to be 1.33:1, and you don't have a camera capable of shooting open gate, which of the two would you use? Which cameras allow you to shoot open gate, both consumer and professional?
Yes, 4K DCI has more pixels. So if you look at it from a pixel standpoint it is higher quality. However, those extra pixels create a wider aspect ratio, 1.90:1 instead of 16:9 for UHD. The standard aspect ratio for both Television and online content is 16:9. Of course this is just a standard and you can use any aspect ratio you like. If you want your videos to have an aspect ratio wider than 16:9, than go ahead and use 4K DCI.
On my s1h I film in normal 4K and then add letterbox to make it look 2:1. My timeline settings is also the same 3840x2160. Is the best use or should I film in c4k? If so what should my timeline settings be? Thanks!! Not filming movies but I like the black bars lol
If your finished video is going to end up on CZcams I would just shoot in 4K UHD and then crop to the 2:1 aspect ratio, just like what you're doing. C4K is best if your finished video is going to be shown in cinemas.
Great explanation, this makes sense on why 4K Blu-ray discs are in 4k UHD instead of 4K DCI

@@DouglasDoNascimento Thank you!
Thanks. But why not use 4k DCI for online and tv ? as the quality is slightly better isnt it?

It was shot on the Panasonic GH5.
