  • More people than you might expect are deciding to move to Apex North Carolina instead of Cary North Carolina. We tell you why so many people are choosing Apex NC over Cary NC. Both cities are absolutely amazing, and highly rated, but there are a few factors pushing people toward Apex such as the amount of available new construction neighborhoods.

The drone view at 1 minute 57 seconds in the video of the tract home neighborhood completely cleared of forest parkland put tears in my eyes! What an ugly tragic scene! While I understand the need for more housing in a growing community, did they really need to clear-cut the entire site of every tree and plant thousands of identical homes to bake in the sun? How about some landscaping, open space, tree buffers, and creative architecture? This scene would scare most people out of the city of Apex!

Yeah, Cary was our #1 but Apex was also really nice. Honestly the Triangle area has many hidden gems.

Another advantage of Apex over Cary (depending on where you are in Apex), is those Chatham County property taxes vs Wake County. Boy that's a nice savings you can't avoid 😅

I looked at houses in Apex and made an offer and got declined. I was buying a house in 2021 when bidding wars were insane. It took 14 offers before I finally got a house. Apex is nice though.

The vast difference in new construction pricing between Apex and Cary is due to Cary no longer building huge neighborhoods of new construction tract homes. Most new construction in Cary now is infill construction that are mostly custom builds. While Cary is still slightly more expensive than Apex for a similar home, custom builds in Apex are similar in price to those in Cary.

I find it insane how expensive the houses are here. The city I came from the median price is literally 1/3rd the median price in Cary. And I may be alone in saying this but the Raleigh area is just absolutely not worth these housing prices.

I'm sorry but there is really no comparison between Cary and Apex. Apex is just homes and more homes. Cary is an actual town with charm. We go into Apex almost weekly and there are hardly any great restaurants to eat at especially if you have dietary restrictions (vegetarian, halal, etc).

Agreed, I can walk to Trader Joe’s from my house in Cary. However, I get why people are looking in Apex. Most homes in Cary are super old. And renovating is horrible, I spent 3x more than I expected.

@@undefined69695 ahh I am sorry to hear about the renovations. My close friend also lives near Trader Joes. That's such a great area!! They also had to re-do the flooring and some other major items which ended up being very costly. We have been under contract for a new construction condo in Cary for over 2 years and it's still going to take an additional year for it to be up. The only main thing it has going for it is the fact that it's new and it's in Cary. It's impossible to find "new" things in Cary and I get that. I do love living in Cary so we sacrificed all space to get it.

I’m in the process of leaving Wake county/Cary altogether, and I was living in Apex before that. I’m in the process of buying a brand new construction, 3000 square foot, 5 bedroom 3 full bathroom house in Franklin county that my realtor told me would cost upwards of a million dollars in Wake county. Instead, I’m paying just under half that by moving one county over. Wake county is disgustingly overpriced (and overpopulated). Even though I was born in Apex and lived in Apex and Cary all my life, I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to leave Wake county.

I feel this. I moved to raleigh from a smaller city in missouri and frankly the prices aren't worth it here. Raleigh is nice but not these insane prices nice.

We bought in Apex and couldn't be happier. Downtown Apex is better than cary, and it's a tad quieter. Love Apex. Except the publix on olive chappel, which is SO EXSPENSIVE
