Wes Barker is a magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. Watch here for hilarious magic, stunts, and pranks. I am funniest magician that is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is best at magic. Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian based out of Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet.

Maybe not my worst job. But definitely one that was a lot tougher than I expected. Many years ago I did magic for kids birthday parties at McDonald's. (way back when they did those kinds of things) Kids are a tough crowd to get things past. Their eyes and minds aren't trained yet like adults. Misdirection was a bear.... I truly admire and am in awe of magicians like Eric and others that can handle those little rug rats. LOL!!!

Thanks for the video, Wes! Many of us enjoying hearing stories of how you (and other magicians) got started in the business, and about your life before. So, thanks! The most physical job I ever had was laborer for a utility contractor. We installed underground power lines. I would sweat in the sun all day, six days per week, and then come home and shower...and that shower was the best thing in the world, just washing the days sweat and dirt off of me. It felt great! I have worked in IT now for many years...and have forgotten what its like to sweat, but I remember that feeling in the shower, and relaxing afterward. Thanks!

I can def relate. I drove a forklift at thrifty supply and loved it. I work at autozone now and I love working on cars, and also getting to deliver parts. It's one of my favorite jobs I've had.
My worst job was McDonalds. Between 11am and 2pm we weren't allowed to leave our "stations". One day we weren't very busy and I really had to pee so I asked to use the restroom but my manager said No. So I waited as long as I could and proceeded to ask again, by now it was probably 1pm, again my manager said No. So needless to say I quit that day because I just really had to pee lol! No regrets though that job sucked!

Hey Wes , great subject I’m sure most of us relate to. I’ve had many jobs through my life, I’m 47 now. But your right the best jobs I’ve had when I worked with a group of guys and the comrodery and jokes and tricks people play on each other. It was sobering to hear you’ve had many jobs and just a normal guy. I took welding in high school and always was a fast learner and had a knack for it and was good at it, although I never really worked a job specifically welding but have always used it through the years at different jobs because I was that guy who knows how to. I got a job working for a big name lawn care company, not cutting or trimming but for more rich people who want beautiful lawns fertilizing and weed control giving people beautiful green lush carpet lawns, I got state certified and started of working with the owner in one van and grew the company to 6 trucks and a crew of guys that I was their boss , I grew his company and was paid well but it never sat right with me that I was the one making all of it happen and he was the one making the real money and had always thought of starting my own business welding creating things, but it’s really hard giving up a solid paycheck for a gamble of is my business going to work and sustain my life. Well 6 years ago I got hurt and could no longer work a normal 9-5 and thankfully had my welding to fall back on and now that’s what I do is create art and repurpose things to make either useful functional things or art and I often help people take their ideas and bring them to life. It’s thankfully gotten both but positive feedback and I’ve been doing quite well everything considered. I’m hoping soon to gain some recognition for the work I do so that my art , sculpture pieces gain more of a notoriety with collectors or just people who pay big dollars for creative art . I give people things that are a one of a kind and can’t be reproduced and will last for generations and can be personalized or whatever the skies the limit as to what can be done, your imagination and creativity are the only things that limits the possibilities so that’s where I’m at today with my life evolution and hope that it takes me and my family to where I’d like to be in life and I really enjoy working for myself and making something for someone that they had an idea in their head that I’m able to pull out and make reality and give it to them and the reactions and joy people get is Awsome. Thanks again for sharing and great relatable subject.

I work as a research assistant at the university, which is mostly office job where you're trying to figure some math out and code some algorithms etc.
But there was also a part where me and my colleague had to build the whole laboratory from scratch. It was so good to break away from the office to do some actual physical labour (like you mixing magic with stair business) and spill sweat and some blood with the colleague to get the thing done from start to finish. Totally understand what you're talking about.
Sometimes I get really saturated with research and the only thing I want is to move to the mountains and raise sheep or something lol. Do you ever get that feeling with magic?

Unlike in Canada/USA we create a big party atmosphere with loads of dancing, clapping, singing & chanting music., and interacting with fans with the mic.
True story...I once got a standing ovation...Playing against Manchester's arch enemy the Sheffield Steelersr, who had the league's biggest and baddest goon. After trying to fight everyone, we're halfway through the 3rd period and he tries to go with one of our smaller forwards. Unbelievably our guy agrees and they both drop the gloves. Goon leaps forward and throws a massive hay-maker, which would have took our guy's head clean off his shoulders....had he not done a perfect Floyd Mayweather and lent his upper body backwards. Goon overbalances with the momentum and falls flat on his back, our guy dusts his hands off and cooly skates away. Why the standing ovation?? As goon is escorted to the penalty box I play the theme tune from the kids cartoon Noddy (google it), and the whole arena sings along. Happy days 😄😄😄

Yeah the ice cream was great. There was also a ghost with a gumball nose and of course the rocket lol they once had a card where if you bought so many you'd get one free. I was working a beer league baseball park and Kirk Muller was playing I got him to sign one of those cards it was all I had. Unfortunately I lost it. But good times. Oh and I once carded Eric Lindros at the casino I worked at

Why didn't you just use your laptop to find your device and make it ring to alert the driver?

Until you have worked as a barman at the ball at the rodeo at the town of Boulia in the channel country in far western Queensland in Australia you have worked nowhere and done nothing. On that night I discovered a drunk ringer (cowboy) can’t tell the difference between a glass of coke and a quadruple rum and coke and forty drunk ringers can fit in a watch house the size of a shipping container before physics requires they be set free.

You sad it man, and Mark Rowe sad it. The jobs that are hard (phisically) make happiest ppl. Ofc, if on those jobs you arent working alone.
Theres a saying, if you want to make friendship you go either to war or to prison. Sadly, ive been both. Got caught in shitty war in 90s (Croatia) I was going to be a fucking veterinarian, loved animals, nature, rnr, I was a fucking hippie in the middle of shitstorm. And on top of that we were fucked upo really badly, had no weapons, got attacked by pretty strong force (for example, there were 2000 of us defending one town, and we were surrounded by 80k enemies).
I had million jobs since, from working in tie and with a pencil, to fucking building shit, all the way to dealing drugs.
Now, I havea v small firm of 5 guys we are working in camping sites for tourists, building tents (5x6 meters), trough all of Croatia. Its phisyicall just enough. I do go tired, but it aint breaking back hard.
    Im happy as a puppy.

After that all guys that surrendered got executed. Many of them like brothers.

I got out in full blast breach. You wouldnt even believe what we got trough in that assault trough enemy lines. If some Americans got trough this, they would got like 5 movies about my group only lol.
yea... magic, it was pure magic to make yourself into instant special forces and today play guitar tommorrow change it for rpg and blast tanks off.
