    First and foremost, thanks for this how to video. Very helpful and I am planning to get a HST and a Class 800 later. I have a Class 92 from Revolution Trains and two Class 60's from Bachmann/Farish in Colas and DB as 60096 and 60100. I used to have N scale many years ago but the sheer frustration of breaking couplers and inclines being the culprit. I gave it up in 2012 and moved to OO gauge. However thanks for the magnet couplers being more reliable. I am pleased to say that I am coming back to N gauge. The reason I bought 60096 in Colas tonight was because I have just passed my Coaching Accreditation course and I wanted to celebrate.

    Great video, learnt a lot as new to n gauge and how to convert the driving units. (looking at putting DCC in a couple of Japanese bullet trains) Found your video very instructive and loved the gentle professional way you work. Normally with the sound conversions I’ll do it myself, confess though I’m going to get CR to do the conversion this time. They have an interesting approach, sound decoder will be one of the leading units, timed in sync with another ESU decoder within the power car.

    Hi Geoff, your the first model railway in N gauge I have subscribed to. I found it very interesting not having a model railway myself as I live in a one bedroom bungalow. I didn't think you could get at the loco's building's and scenic materials in N gauge. I don't know how big your layout is but your seam to have a lot going on in your diorama's. I wouldn't mind if you could show the station area and t m d area. Enjoy the videos I have seen so far and looking forward to some more.

    Great video Geoff, Loved watching you installing the chips and lighting on the Azuma, I didn't realise ESU did a sound decoder to fit, I knew that you could get all the Kato equivalent chips by Zimo but I don't think they do the sound chip. The structure train was very interesting as I have thought about one in the future, but got so many other projects in the to do box, it'll have to wait. Like you I have also heard the Lais chips are copies to the point whereby the manufacturing code on the cv gives a code of a well known American brand. I will also only use them as function chips and tend to stick to Zimo for motor control. All the best Tony.

    • @flinthillsmodelrailway
      @flinthillsmodelrailway  Před 2 lety +1

      hi Tony , I believe Lais used the code from DDC concepts ie ZEN decoder. yes I stick to Zimo and the odd ESU as I use Railcom detection and commination for the loco's . good for changing CV's on the main track also . Geoff

    Question. I'm new to DCC. I have various different makes of n gauge trains like minitrx/ Kato that are DCC ready. Do they all use their own decoders and do they all work on various different DCC controllers on the market??

    • @flinthillsmodelrailway
      @flinthillsmodelrailway  Před 10 měsíci +1

      hi , They should all work on any DCC system . Each loco will State the decoder required ie Next 18 or 6 pin or 8 pin etc . some loco's will require a Unique decoder like the Kato Azuma . you should be able to look up each loco on the Web to see which decoder types it accepts . I personal stick to Zimo, ESU or train-o-matic Decoders .
