      The PX7 is beautiful, fits nice and great ANC. However, I've chosen the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless over the B&W PX7 for sound. The PX7 sounded muffled compared to the clarity of the Momentum 3 in their default setup. Of course you can tweak with equalizers, but I'd rather start with the best manufacturer setup. Besides that the Momentum 3 are now about 3/4 of the PX7 price

      This is a really hard choice I’m currently struggling to decide what I want to keep.
      The just of what I’ve gotten so far:
      I prefer the sennheisers for sound quality because they’re slightly louder but mostly importantly it has the best bass I’ve ever heard in a ANC Bluetooth headphones (real bass, not simulated Skullcandy’s). It’s truly incredible in anything with even a little bass and very fun to listen to. The PX7’s do sound great and have an enormous beautiful sound stage, but if you’re a bass junkie I’d steer towards the sennheisers for sound. Here’s the thing tho, virtually everything else I prefer the PX7’s for. 30 hour battery life, far better ANC, far better transparency mode, better build imo and it’s a slightly tighter grip which I prefer that invokes more confidence. If I bent over the sennheisers would fall off. The sennheisers have a really nice EQ in the app I’m hoping B&W add to theirs for bass junkies like me. Another thing worth noting is the 17 hour rating for the sennheisers are wrong in my usage I have to charge them every 1-2 days I FEEL like it’s 10 hours maybe LOL it’s not cool, if I decide to keep these I’m replacing them for a new pair.
      Basically
      Sound quality: I prefer Sennheisers for the incredible bass, if you don’t like a ton of bass, then the PX7’s are better. THIS IS THE MOST CRUCIAL PART! The sennheisers are much more fun to listen to if you like bass.
      Build: both incredible, sennheisers use real sheep skin leather but feel a little lose on the head for my tastes. The PX7’s are very comfortable but tighter feeling, which I prefer.
      Battery: No contest, PX7’s
      Noice cancelling: No contest, PX7’s
      Transparency: For sure PX7’s, though the Sennheisers Transparency is pretty good B&W’s is adjustable.
      The buttons are easier to feel out on the PX7’s
      Also the carrying case in the PX7’s is a hard shell slim very nice case. Sennheisers is soft shell and not good at all for travel.

      @@TechieConnoisseur Did you end up returning one of them? I currently have the Momentum 3’s and I love bass, especially the headshaking punchy bass that the M3’s have! I was planning on trying out the PX7’s to directly compare them myself with one major question: Just how much greater are the PX7’s soundstage compared the M3’s? Is it truly better enough to make up for the lack of bass? What do you think?

    • @TechieConnoisseur
      @TechieConnoisseur Před 4 lety +4

      chriss It is only slightly better sound stage. The bass is much more controlled and tight tho which is satisfying in its own right as well depending on the genre. Imo it offers a very nice balanced sound I can appreciate. I haven’t returned one yet, but I’m learning towards returning my Sennheisers (Sadly). Not quite sure yet because I LOVE the bass. But almost every other aspect of the headphones and experience goes to the PX7’s in my opinion, I wish I could just keep both ugh 😂

    Thanks for the review Troy.
    You do very thorough and quite scientific review. Good graphic overlays to communicate tech info. Personally I'd welcome even more 'popup' information (names of songs being reviewed etc). One other idea is a comparison x out of 5 for each category compared to comparably priced headphones, but I guess that ages quickly as new headsets come out with new features.
    I am very impressed with the engineering behind these - very high build quality and components. Very full of features. They seem engineered to last compared to Beats low-end whose ear cups crease and peel. Compared to other $100-$200 headphones I find them very biased to top and low end. The bass THUMPS and cymbals hiss leaving the vocals in pop songs a bit thin and stretched. Personally it's a bit too much, but reducing ANC helps as you said. The sound stage seems a bit further than some other cans.

    The SQ of my PX7 is much poorer than my P7. My P7W are between the two. The problem with the PX7 SQ is that the sound stage is so compressed. Bass is far too prominent and it hampers the clarity and openness of the sound. What is really nice with the PX7 is the ANC, ear sensor, battery and how they fit on the head. If you want SQ test out the Dali IO-6

    Based on lots of reviews and test demos I picked these headphones and with good reason.......sound quality is top shelf awesome.....I don't game or take calls, pure audio. Just that alone was enough but paired with all the other characteristics you explain in plain and coherent detail they are quite the excellent package.......one benefit I'd like to highlight is that theses are dead quiet if by chance you makes contact with a solid object when wearing/listening.....others I've tried all sound like a freight train has collided with your head....there is no transfer of noise when using the included 3.5 mm cord and when added with an external amp/dac, say like the AudioQuest Black the sound characteristics remain the same but just get better all the way around....this is my 1st pair of wireless headphones, only because before these B&W P7's, there was nothing in the price range worth buying if your abit of an audiophile.

    If you’re going to use “The Truth they don’t tell you” in your titles, then you may want to do a better job of fact checking before filming your videos. One minute in you had already gotten 2 facts wrong.
    The material covering the outside of the ear cups and the head band is not ballistic nylon like on the original PX. It’s a treated cloth...and it’s not as durable. Also, the “leather” on the ear pads is not genuine leather. It’s a synthetic material.
    B&W did a good job with the feature set of the PX7, but it’s definitely a downgrade when it comes to material quality and looks when compared to the PX. The sound signature and sound quality are also not better...just different. It doesn’t sound as neutral and balanced as the OG PX...but it does have a more “fun” signature, if you like a v-shaped sound signature.

      @@RealTalk532 The PX had a revision, basically a version 2.0, that went on sale about a year and a half ago. It started shipping with a very nice hard case, as opposed to the soft case/bag tht it originally shipped with.
      The PX's that shipped with this new case also had improved, softer ear pads...and more padding in the headband cushion. This made the PX quite a bit more comfortable than version 1.0 was. It still certainly isn't the last word on comfort, but it is a substantial improvement over the original version.
      The PX7 pads have a traditional design with a larger surface area than the the PX pads, and they are softer. This makes the PX7 quite a bit more comfortable than the PX for most people. But, the PX7 ear pads are made out of a "synthetic material"...in other words, fake leather. They don't feel or look nearly as nice as the PX ear pads and, in my experience, synthetic pads don't last nearly as long as genuine leather pads. Just ask any Bose QC35 owner about that.

    • @edwinramos4910
      @edwinramos4910 Před 4 lety

      @@nndei Yes, the PX uses genuine leather on the ear pads and on the headband cushion. The PX7 uses what B&W is calling a "synthetic" material.

      @@davidg4026 I don’t see the relevance - volume control belongs to your device itself - if it’s an iPhone it’s a valuable by touch or by the physical buttons on the device as well - just leave the headset volume at a set highest volume, and the finer control can be yours on your device

      @@davidg4026 let me put this a bit differently then - the headset app does a minimal of what is the requirement of a headset - which it should ... aside from setting up the headphones - a rare thing to do - I seriously doubt that the app will be something you use very often - the daily tasks are carried out at the main device (iPhone, android, tablet...), where they belong, and have full support for assisted control as well

      I have both as well one of them are going to be returned. but still cannot decide. mx4 sound awful until the EQ does not come to play.. then they start to shine. I'm not baas-head and PX7 sometimes sound too bassy to me. Sony sound more natural (custom EQ) but PX7 can give me a lot of excitement during particular tracks...

    Please be more thorough in your review! Quite simply, the headset does support Siri and other assistants - it acts like any other headset - long press on the selector button! A bit more involved - having an equalizer in a single app is just wrong! If for no other reason - this is a headset, so sometimes to be tuned for voice clarity, and sometimes for music... further on - what type of music? Music equalization depends on source and the genre of music - so never possible for a single app to control at that level
