He's not using it "AS" Air Force One.
Any US Air Force plane that has the president on board automatically becomes Air Force One.
Air Force One is the callsign for the president and not for one particular plane.
When former president George Bush took a ride on a Navy S-3B Viking, that plane became Navy One.
When the president is in one of the Marine's helicopters, that helicopter becomes Marine One.

royeb63 then that means he is using it as air Force one. Air Force one is only used on air craft that the president is on. When the747 is not in use it is simple 2700.

Donald Graff Hi Don: SAM 26000 & 27000 are B707s, the former stored for viewing at the NAFM( dayton) , the latter at Reagan's library at Simi Valley on stands. Both are beautifully displayed. SAM 28000 and 29000 are the B747s (VC-25s) currently in use. Here's a trivia question for you. Do you know the ONLY time so far that AF1 changed call sign in-flight?

    • @royeb63
      @royeb63 Před 6 lety +9

I believe it was when Nixon was on his way home after he resigned.
He was still president when he entered the plane, but the new president was sworn in during the flight.
He was then no longer the president, and the plane changed callsign.

Those planes are known as a tail number (call sign), and only use the call sign when the POTUS is on the aircraft, and that's when they switch to the call sign of "Air Force One"....

And by the way, anytime the President flies the 757 nine times out of 10 their designated airport of landing is to small to hold the 747. It's much more powerful and safter than the 757.

its mostly a cost saving measure, the VC-25 has the same runway requirement as a C-32. And having flown into Fort Drum I am aware the runway is more than adequate for a large aircraft since C-5s routinely land there

I'm sure the 747 used and the pilots has some way to land on short runways when needed. It does make more sense and save costs to use the 757s especially on shorter trips or where the jumbo is too big. Plus the Trump org plane is a 757 so surely he is familiar with it.

Try to name one that has done 1/10th of what DJT has accomplished. First of all he didn't need or really even want to run for president but things were getting so bad he felt compelled to try to make things better. He has lost hundreds of millions of dollars in business and spent even more campaigning. Do you have any idea what it costs to operate a jumbo jet, a couple helicopters and a smaller jet flying to 5 or more places a day for a solid year. No one has ever spent so much of their own money like that and yet his campaign was only a small fraction of what Hillary spent in her campaign. Since being elected he has help keep domestic companies keep from taking thousands of jobs out of the country. Then once sworn in he is directly responsible for great things things like the creation of all sorts of jobs. We have a major labor shortage right now. Jobs in construction, auto manufacturing, clean alternative power as well as bringing back steel, coal, natural gas, oil domestic production, reducing unemployment and getting people participating in the work force again, immigration control and eventually a proper secure border, deporting illegal criminals, tax cuts, stopping the unfair/illegal health insurance penalty tax, expanding the middle class, deregulation, world peace, Opening talks with long time enemy North Korea, increased military spending on equipment, fighting terrorism, defunding Iran's nuclear and terrorist activities, veterans benefits, increasing military wages and enlistment incentives, cut wasteful government spending, supporting law enforcement, stock prices, natural resources, getting more equitable trade deals, bringing home hostages, getting the US respected as a peace keeper again, donating his presidential pay to underfunded programs, working on his days off, working 16 plus hours a day, spending his own money on disaster relief and the list just continues to grow all the while being spied on, falsely accused, obstructed and harassed 24/7. It's as if God himself were acting through him. It's amazing to watch and people are starting to get it. His popularity has reached record highs despite the constant fake news stating the opposite. People as a whole are not falling for it anymore. Not one of hundreds of MSNBC's or CNN's negative predictions have come true.

Most likely, the two 747's are going under mechanical maintenance. This is the problem when they only operate 2. They cannot have proper rotation for the work. When POTUS travels over seas, there are always 2 presidential planes, one being a back up. If the Air Force actually had 3, they could then pull one out of service to be worked on, while leaving the other two for travel needs. But...oh well...Trump is saving some money...

The VC-25 is not necessarily Air Force One. Any Air Force plane that he is on is call signed Air Force One. Yeah, the C-32 is rarely used as Air Force One, but no plane is specifically Air Force One, per se! Nonetheless, it is very weird to see him exit a C-32, lol! I guess he would be more used ro that model anyway, since his personal plane is about the same model! Btw, those airmen look like trash out there! I also liked that black Tahoe with the crash bar on the front. They nees to upgrade all of their secret service trucks to that particular model and build as well as to the Cadillac Escalades! You would think that they had some Esclades for the times where rhe president uses an SUV, as well as for the vice president, since they use SUVs!

Every commercial airliner in the US is struck by lightning in-flight at least once a year. Despite this, the last crash in the US directly attributed to lightning occurred in 1963.
Why? Because aircraft manufactures expect planes to be struck by lightning, and design them so that they can be struck by lightning and keep flying.
