    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  Před 5 lety +4

      Hi Ivelisse, this pattern (Tie strap crop top) doesn't have any decreases in it the top is a tube (it stretches out to fit your body after you've worn it a few times, so the bust portion will become wider than the waist) and the straps also don't have any decreases. Maybe you're having issues with a different pattern?

      Purva Goswami i made size small, and i made the top longer so i used more yarn than the tutorial which was xs. i used a little less than two balls of 285yds/4.5 oz or 260m/127.5g of medium 4 acrylic yarn (that’s all that was available to me). it was about a ball and a half of the yarn that i bought (it was a huge ball). sorry if that doesn’t make sense to you, i’m new to crochet measurements. i would recommend not using acrylic, the top was stiff and not super soft. i don’t mind tho!

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  Před 4 lety +7

      Thanks Camille! Yes you could crochet the straps directly on but I find that it makes it more difficult to get perfect placement and the stitches can 'pull' on the top so the first round of the top isn't as straight. But feel free to alter this pattern to suit you :) Grace

    Hi Grace! I have 2 questions:
    1: I have about 3.65 oz or 103 g of yarn to work with (I'm making the xs I think) But in the past I tend to come up short on yarn in the middle of the project without any yarn of the same color. Do you think I will run out or is this enough?
    2: Instead of making the tie straps could I possibly just make 2 longer straps that just go all the way over and I sew to the front and the back?
    Let me know, thank you for your time and helpful videos. :)

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  Před 4 lety

      Hi Kymberly, you can use a foundation chain then crochet across but the first row of your top will have less stretch and might not fit over your head! I'd recommend crocheting the first round and then see if your yarn is stretchy enough to fit over head. If so, your top should be fine :)

      Hi Selma,
      If you use a different hook size, it will probably change the gauge. So you can follow the pattern as a guide but you'll have to alter the number stitches and rounds you crochet so your top will fit.
      Grace :)

    Hi. I just recently started crocheting and I am currently following your video because I totally love this top😊. I checked in your pattern, what is the difference between "upper bust" and "to fit bust"? I just want to clarify. 😬 Hope you will reply. Thank you ☺️

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Kre,
      The upper bust is the measurement just underneath your armpits but the 'to fit bust' is your true bust measurement - so the widest part of your bust. I hope this helps,
      Grace :)

    Do I do a half double crochet into the slip stitch from the last round as well?

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, the slip stitch doesn't count as a stitch so you should never work a HDC into it. This will cause your top to slowly get wider! After every few rounds I'd recommend counting your stitches to make sure you still have the same amount.
      Grace :)
