    The Sicilian Defense is the most frequently used defense from club players to Grandmasters. The main reason for the popularity of this chess opening is its combative nature - Black fights not for equality, but for advantage. The Sicilian Defense begins with the moves: 1.e4 c5.
    In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will share with you 5 best chess opening traps in the Sicilian Defense with different variations including the Najdorf, Dragon, Accelerated Dragon, O'Kelly and Paulsen variation.

      It's not like that . The reson is u study only 1variation . But u have to study all the variation deeply . Every trap as an counter attack and if played correctly then that counter attack can be defended

    Lot of souvenirs for me with this video 🙂I'm from Belgium and when I began to play chess o'Kelly was one of our few GM. Problem in this system is that white can go for the Maroczy setup and it's though to play as black when you are not correctly prepared, maybe a good Idea for a next video ?
    I played the Kan system when I was beginner but I lost many games and I changed for another one, but definitely one I would be ready to play again if I had time to review its theory.
    Also there is another famous trap with Bc4xe6 when Fischer had reviewed a position that was commonly played in USSR at that time and he used it in tournament shorty after

    the last trap instead of 5.Be3 you play 5.Bd3 and then on 6th move you castle imediately and if black checks Bb4+ just move Nbd2 not on c3 to avoid capturing and make you a double pawn file. this is how i counter that trap and you need to watch every var black moves and do not use 1 var opening patern you need to learn other vars. too to avoid these traps. 😁

    I
    when my opponent starts as white with king's pawn to e4,
    and I respond as black with Sicilian pawn to c5,
    and then white responds with king's side knight to f3 (open Sicilian),
    is there a specific initial Sicilian black defense version (? a6 O'Kelly, ? d6 Najdorf, ? e6 French, ? queen side knight to c6, ? king side knight to f6, ? other)
    that works best against white's open Sicilian
    (in order for me to know what best 2nd move I should make as black) ?
    thank you for all you have done for the chess community!

    i think players that bring out both knights early in the game and players that use the knights as their primary offensive players are hallmarks of an older generation of chess players. Both my grandfather and father's generation seemed very fond of using their knights extensively in chess. Some players can be lethal with their knights but I always found their importance very easy to negate.

    The first one does not work..you state there are two choices...Qb6 would of course work but Qa5 pins the knight making the game a little too easy for black to win

    • @fritzschwartz3295
      @fritzschwartz3295 Před 4 lety +1

      Not necessarily. White can castle unpinning the knight and black still has a knight on e6 preventing black king from castling.
      I think that would be enough compensation given blacks position is a little more difficult to defend, and white has more attacking opportunity

    • @TimJapan
      @TimJapan Před 4 lety

      @@fritzschwartz3295If black castles I think black gains a move with Qb6 check and as long as black knows what's afoot he can guard against Bb7 might be okay. You are right though, that knight is an awkward piece Queen can't get safe easily

    • @fritzschwartz3295
      @fritzschwartz3295 Před 4 lety +1

      Timothy Bull I didn’t consider that variation, but taking a second look, if black plays Qa5, then b4. Of course queen can’t take because queen is guarding c7, so 2....Qb6 and the trap continues.

    • @TimJapan
      @TimJapan Před 4 lety +1

      @@fritzschwartz3295 I think QXb4 then Knight is pinned and undefended also with fork on rook so queen can't defend if NXa8. On top of all that King moves to f7 ready for artificial castle and attacks other knight It's not looking good in my opinion. b4 doesn't work it's All black can do is look forward to a a biscuit and cup of tea after the game.
