Great to hear, Twanda!
Finally straight forward answers. Thank you so much for all you do.
I’m so happy and glad and thankful for these videos you take the time to do!!❤️ Thank you SO MUCH🙏
SO happy I found you! I have asked this question so many times of different IF "experts" and never never get the same answer! Your clear and concise answer makes me so happy! Dr. Rhonda Patrick always stands by only water. Her take is plain black coffee even causes your liver to go to work metabolizing so fast is broken. Thank you thank you.
Thanks so much for this video, I'm getting ready to start Keto and will add this knowledge to my diet plan. I also enjoyed that this video was in your home, it feels more personal. Love what both you and your husband have to say about keto.
I'm so thankful I found your channel.... so logical, clear and thought out. Thank you.
Thank you Doc great info
God bless you richly
Thank you for this video. You and your husband have provided really great information. I really like this one in particular, not only for the information but because it was more personal in your home environment and didn’t seem so doctor like...LOL...enjoy your day and keep this information coming....Thanks so much
Thank you for the info, just in time.
So informative! Thank you so much Dr!
Hey Dr. Becky!! Your new kitchen looks great!!
Thanks, Marilee :)
So much great info, thanks Becky.
Thank you for this video! I've been searching if cinnamon breaks the fasting for almost 2 weeks now I finally have my answer ! :)
Thanks Dr Becky,
I'm starting a low carb diet, so this is insightful. God bless you and Merry Christmas ⛄🌲
Thanks for great information.
Thanks Jennifer
This is Dr Becky 😳
Great video!
Thank u for telling the truth about Artificial Sweeteners!
Excellent informative as ever grazie ciao
Thank you for the info
My understanding is that moderate amounts of black coffee during fasting periods contain very few calories unlikely to break your fast. In fact, coffee may enhance the benefits of intermittent fasting, which include reduced inflammation and improved brain function. So I drink two cups while waiting and save some for later, after lunch, when I add cream for a treat. I am so glad I learned to enjoy black coffee years ago.
What about a teaspoon of vanilla extract?
Thank you for the info! Sounds like heavy cream would be a better choice than half and half, then?
So helpful. TY.
Agree so much on your opinion about artificial sweeteners. 👍
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for mentioning Ceylon Cinnamon❣ I get canker sores from the common cinnamon but Ceylon causes no mouth sores at all. I wish I had known this years ago! The pain of canker sores is not fun then the deprivation of no cinnamon was hard but now after decades without cinnamon I am enjoying Ceylon Cinnamon without sores and oh so tasty!!!
I love the Ceylon!! I just learned that I have used the wrong kind . Glad you found it too!
Great Video...🙏✌
In powder form those sweeteners are often packaged with maltodextrin and dextrose as fillers (both have very high glycemic index). Try these sweeteners in liquid form.
Thank you.
Thanks for mentioning cinnamon in coffee, that it lowers BG. I'm T2. A couple of die hard canoe trippers in their fifties, follow a keto diet and say they put coconut oil in their morning coffee. Thanks Dr. Becky.
Thanks.
Thank you, it's been something I've been questioning myself about. I've been making and using ghee for cooking and a tsp in my morning coffee, what's your opinion on ghee?
Hi Cynthia, ghee is fine to use :).
Stevia is not artificial, it is a natural alternative to sugar. The artificial is what it's cut with. Sweet Leaf is cut with a fiber (inulin).
Kathleen Gulbransen I use Organic Liquor Stevia from Trader Joe’s
@@lylarosewild me too.
Thanks!
Good information
Hello Becky, your videos are wonderful. A question... would soy milk in tea break my fast.
Thanks for your Video
Can we have ginger or turmeric tea during IF window?
What are your thoughts on collagen powder?
Dr. Becky, would the Toroni Syrups still work the same as artificial sweetners? They have 0 sugars, carbs or calories. I'm not looking so much for the sweetness but I like for the little added flavoring.
Lactose intolerant, I use unsweetened cashew almond milk with 1 gram carb.
Does this break my fast?
Thankyou. Love both your channels
Doctor, do you have any thoughts on how much coffee one can consume during the day while fasting?
Can I use a plant based unsweetened milk in my coffee?
Dr Gillaspy, is stevia included with all those artificial sweeteners, or is it okay?
Dr.becky.. can i mix coffee + mct oil + collagen peptides all together ?
What about coconut cream?
Thank you so much. I’m so happy I found you!!
Looking for info on beans, blackeyed peas etc.
Dr. Beckie. First, thanks for what you do for us. Second, can I use brain octane while fasting also?
I so enjoy your channel
Any updates about these products and breaking your fast since then?
I don’t drink coffee. What about sugar free drinking chocolate(cocoa), do the same rules apply to intermittent fasting if I drink chocolate in the morning instead of coffee?
I also believe in self-experimentation, but Dr. Rhonda Patrick provides a pretty simple, clear-cut scientific answer on the question of what breaks your fast. I don't think it's just a matter of opinion.
I like your "2 cents"! :)
I was wondering about collagen would that break fast?
I like your kitchen :)
Could you tell me how monk fruit sweetener does? It is supposed to be 0 calorie 0 glycemic index.
Hello My Doc , love your videos , so i not use any creams or something like that with My coffee but here the problem ,i just add a tea spoon of Sugar, but You know! , im doing 16 - 8 fasting ,every single day .
Any thoughts on non dairy creamers? Just a little? Once a day?
How about almond milk Dr Becky ?
is it ok to drink a late with almond milk only? .. during intermittent fasting?
I love your fireplace
Such a cozy kitchen.
Will using the laird superfood creamer break your fast
Dr Becky, how about some coconut cream and water with electrolytes?
Is coconut oil the same as MCT oil?
What about lactose free full cream milk? Will a dash of this in my morning tea break my fast?
Hello! What about almond milk?
Does any one know if lakanto maple flavored syrup will break the fasting?..
Your comment about the artificial sweeteners really resonated with me although I'm not using aspartame I have been using palm sugar and coming up with desserts to try to get me through this hump. You're correct I think I need to get rid of sweets totally to help my brain and tastebuds.
Hi Doc Becky,
I have got high blood pressure and pre diabetic, if I'm eating very easy to put on weight and if I am not eating having trouble low blood sugar and straight to hypoglycemia. How can I do intermittent Fasting?
Can I have some suggestion or tips wud be great.
What about Stevia or Monkfruit ? No mention about them purely natural sweeter. One of them from a leaf and the other a fruit.
Dr Becky
Would. 2 tbsp whipping cream and 4 drops of steva in your coffee bad for me.. Or anyone
Allergic to dairy. Will 1 tablespoon of nonsweetened almond milk creamer break the fast?
I use organic stevia in my coffee and I don't crave sweets. This is ok?? With organic Ceylon cinnamon too.
I found a plant milk with no carbs is that OK. X
I am going to just do half of the recommended serving for Mct. Instead of 2 tablespoons, I am going to just do one. Then maybe save the other tablespoon for 11 am coffee , but only if I need to. I am referring to a Mct coffee creamer.
Valerie Paul only do one teaspoonful. You want to be under 100 calories. One TBS is too much
Hi, thank you so much for this, very helpful. May I ask you what do you think about adding real honey to sweeten my coffee?
Michele, adding honey to tea or coffee will break your fast and also raise your insulin. If you are doing a fast or following a low carb or Keto lifestyle I really would stay away from any kind of sweetener. Even with some of the artificial sweeteners or plant sweeteners, some people still experience a raise in insulin, because their bodies respond to that “sweet taste” by raising insulin levels. You would need to test your blood glucose to see if you are one of those people. I personally do not use any sweeteners of any kind,
Is adding small amount of my decaf coffee can break my fast???
What about collagen peptides?
De Bragg makes an amazing Apple cider vinegar all natural drink. I'm sure they put stevia in it
Have you ever looked into the impact of vitamins & supplements on your ketones & blood sugar? I would love to know if I can take them during my fasting or should take them during my eating window. Thank you for all of the info you share, it is very helpful
I wonder that too as I take a handful every morning.
Me too!
We'll just keep on wondering as it seems that nobody responds to the comments.
I would take them during eating window, bec most supplements should be taken with food anyway.
Do you recommend Ghee?
Everyone is different but I'm still losing putting half and half (lactose free) in my coffee in morning. I just can't have it black but try not to put too much. Did get off sugar/splenda which is a plus
What about coconut cream
Love and peace
What I have settled on for myself is that I eat only one meal a day (OMAD). I eat keto. However I also want my morning coffee and I loathe the flavor of pure coffee, it is incredibly bitter to me. To make it palatable, I add a single teaspoon of heavy cream and a very small amount of stevia, not enough to make it sweet, but just enough that the bitterness becomes something other. I cannot know for sure whether or not this breaks the fast, some say it does, some say it doesn't. My compromise is this. I have my morning coffee at 8AM, maybe a second around noon. I eat my meal at 3PM. That means I spend a full sixteen hours consuming nothing but water. That is still in the bailiwick of intermittent fasting. If those coffees do 'not' break the fast, then I am fasting 23 hours a day. If they do, at least I am getting the 16 hour benefit.
16 hours is recommended. I use soy milk. 1.5 grams fat. 2 carbs...I don't think the doc would approve though.
You could measure your insulin response at home to see if the cream and sweetener is having an adverse effect. The goal of fasting is to keep insulin at bay so that your body can metabolize stored fat (as you probably know). Some people, like myself, don't get good results with keto alone because even low carb foods cause insulin response, although not as much as high-carb foods.
Peter Cohen try a low acid coffee!
I'd also suggest cold brewing, if you're not already. It's very easy, let's you save some time in the morning, and the result is significantly less acidic and bitter. Then you can pop your cup in the microwave; the heat won't make it bitter once the beans are out.
@@HadBabits using a microwave is not a good idea for anyone interested in their health
What about coconut oil?
I have full cream dairy milk and 2tsps of sugar with my coffee, will it break my fast?
I wish I could do this but my sleeping hours are wack. And I can’t go until 4 pm without at least a coffee and I don’t do black coffee. I need it creamy with a lot of ice.
Just add heavy cream not a creamer loaded with sugar.
Dr Becky, what is your opinion of Almond milk or coconut milk creamer? Also I read that the compound that effects blood sugar is actually more available in commercial cinnamon (ie: cassia) ...what is your opinion?
Hi macktruk13, on my second YT channel that I share with my husband, we've tested how fats and sugar substitutes impact our blood glucose and ketones. We have not tested substances with protein and carbs, like almond milk yet, but we plan to in the future so you might want to subscribe to that channel. Here is the URL for the videos: bit.ly/2HHbwdr. I recommend Ceylon cinnamon.
Even organic stevia ?
Thank you for the video. I heard that anything over 40 cals will break the fast. My concern is stopping autophagy. So, I use 1 tsp of MCT prior to my workout. Then another 2 hours later. And MAYBE one more a couple hours later.
Stop eating if you want to keep autophagy. Do or do not, there is no try!
Dr. Bernstein recommends pure saccharine, like Necta sweet...no fillers and no dextrose. What do you think?
Hi Robert, on my second CZcams channel that I run with my husband, we tested our blood glucose and ketone readings after consuming different artificial sweeteners (including saccharin) to see how they would affect our intermittent fast. Here are the results: czcams.com/video/lSJvIu5jRNw/video.html
Hi Dr. Becky... I put a tsp of collagen powder in my coffee in the morning.. Am I breaking my fast even with that small amount?
It is a protein.....so I would say yes.....but tsp is not very much. So probably the same as cream and butter, it would technically break your fast.
What about almond milk?
What about coconut oil,if I put in my coffee?
Becky, what are your thoughts respective Xylitol, real Xylitol from Birch. Not, thebtype manifactured in China or who knows where with full of Corn Starch and other additives. Thanks
If I had a small portion of lactose free 1%milk to my small cup of coffee does it break a fast ?
So my body would would utilize the MCT oil first and not burn fat stores? I don't use butter or heavy cream when fasting but I will after a break my fast. My opinion is only water should be had during a fast or nothing.
Thank you for the information. Does your research show that some individuals do not respond to a fasting/keto diet by losing body fat? I do not need to lose more than 15 pounds but I have fat deposits in my abdomen. I have been fasting/intermittent and the fat is not budging. In fact the fat seems to be bulging in the wrong places. I have had some success with low carb in the past but this time...not so much. Are there any tests that can be done to determine if my body responds better to a different type of eating plan? I have heard of a DNA test that might identify this kind of issue but I am not sure what test that is.. Do you have any information or suggestions?
I agree
Some people have faster metabolism that may be due to age, diet, and genes.. I guess u lessen carbs during ur meals and eat foods that increases ur metabolism and ketosis.
Im not a doctor . Im just suggesting.
I am doing intermittent fasting many times before. I believe these things work :)
