      To bring back the rave means we need to get rid of our government. The government is the enemy of our freedom and how many times have they sent the police force to break up our raves and steal our equipment. No government should ever be allowed to interfere like they do. It’s gone on for too long and now with plandemic it’s turning into a nightmare.

    Great interview with these 2 legends, funny to see how things were like back in the early to mid 90’s... for example Dougals hair style! Lol. So many other classic happy hardcore tracks that could of gone into the album, sometimes they just put on the same tracks time after time!

      Vibes appearance always left an impression on me, his shoulder length wild red hair and probing eyes and sharp nose carried this strange atmosphere and whenever him and dougal played back2back it was so atmospheric.

    Paul Clarke aka "Dougal" owes me a 12 " Inner City Good Life from the sixth form from around 1991 and the sod never returned it. so if I never "lent" you that 12" you would probably never started mixing and done the "Sixth form DISCO" LOL, so maybe I was a pivotal moment? who knows? Lings Upper School 1991 Northampton.

      @Richard Cheese That's what you took away from that comment? is it? you'd have to be a pretty petty person to truely mean a comment like that. And I knew "Paul Clarke" for years I'm sure even he'd admit he aint that special, just in the right place at the right time and yes he must have done something right and good for him, but yeah still that was the first ever 12" I bought and the sod never returned.

    The tracks are good! But Jesus Christ, you’d think there was only 20-30 Hardcore tracks ever written. It’s the same track-list on these compilations all the time. Literally takes no effort for Dougal and Hixxy to compile this. Wish they could be a bit more imaginative with their choices. There’s plenty of other classics that never get represented.

    Unbelievable that these two, who pioneered the scene from the start can’t see how they, along with the rest of the click, have ruined hardcore (if you can call it that these days) the hardcore these days is shite, just sped up clubland trance wank.
    Best hardcore was the 90’s up to probably 2002.
    Remember United dance at bagleys, slamming vinyl and hardcore heaven at the sanctuary, amazing athmosphere, no big hardcore raves anymore cos hardcore is dead. They changed the music too much, so much so that it doesn’t exist anymore.

    • @abizzle100
      @abizzle100 Před 4 lety +4

      When the rave scene split and became jungle / drum n bass and happy hardcore is when hardcore died for me. I can’t listen to anything after 95 hardcore wise, but carried on listening to drum n bass to this day. I’m 40 now and have been listening to rave since 1991. I think the breakbeats went with drum & bass and hardcore seemed to be more and more 4/4 kick drum and long vocal sections. Thats what killed it in my opinion

    • @gramnegative
      @gramnegative Před 4 lety +5

      To me the golden age of happy hardcore was 94-96. Once they dropped the breakbeat it was all over for me

      @@gramnegative Me too, once they made the beat to clean and and simplified it lost everything. It’s the breakbeat with the 4/4 that has the magic. A great example and also my favourite producers is Ramos supreme and sunset regime with classics like Night Raver and Tribal chant and The Fire this time carried such a distinctive and unique atmosphere that at the age of 12 when I was first introduced to it blew my fricken mind.

      After it broke with Drum & Bass it started to shift in a bad direction I was done by 1997 after being into Rave since 1991 & going out since the end of 1993.
      Rezerection was my last hardcore rave, I still like techno & early slower Gabber alongside lots of electronic music, but it seemed the happy English DJ’s just wanted to make it more & more commercial.
      Song sampling got worse it seemed almost parody of its self later, think I heard Hixxy playing force & styles at that Rez, then went to listen to Mikey Finn.
      Just went to actual techno raves plus loads of other nights that played electronic music that was more underground at 20 in 1997 after I felt far too old for happy hardcore ( I distinctly remember feeling that which strange looking back on now I am 43)
      Quite sad really as used I love the early rave stuff then went on to DJ OldSchool rave ,acid house, techno & other stuff professionally, but just could not get onboard with were the English happy hardcore scene went.

    Respect their standing within the scene but hated most of what they did. The irony for me is that Heart of Gold and Pretty Green Eyes epitomised how awful the scene could be. Give me Brisk, Scott Brown and Neophyte as true hardcore representatives over these two any day of the week.
