  • Auston Matthews went goalless in his last three games, but he scored the game winner over the Bruins Monday night. TSN's Mark Masters and Chris Johnston join SportsCentre to breakdown Matthews' goal to snap his drought, the performance from Ilya Samsonov in Game 2, and how Toronto responded as a whole after their Game 1 loss in Boston.

Finally Matthews looked like a super star in a playoff game. Good on Matthews! 😀

@@thricefan89 I do wish to be honest but without negativity. We agree he looked like a super star last night. Did you hear what Gretzky said after last year’s playoffs? I agree with him & wish Auston well this spring. 😀

@@jimlangdon1947Matthews Stole game 4 vs Tampa last year in the last 10 mins down 4-1. Let’s be real. He’s had some great showings and moments but he’s just getting into his prime years here now. I’d guess he’s going to just get grittier and harder to stop. He’s tired of being called soft in the playoffs it seems.

@@zppv5981 Super stars win playoff series. Matthews has zero playoff runs. It is very simple. Why not see if he ever earns his pay?
He has looked like a playoff super star only in one playoff game of his whole career. It was game 2 this year. Let us see if he is ever the difference - for Leafs to win two series. That is a playoff run.
If not in his career - Matthews just gets remembered as the guy who failed to score 70 goals. It is time for Auston to man up - or he only just gets not forgotten in Toronto. Life is cruel sometimes. He best face that fact if he is the highest paid NHL player soon and start winning playoff series as super stars do. 😀

@@jimlangdon1947 I mean although I agree with a lot of what you’re saying.. let’s be honest, regardless of playoff success (like many other superstars who haven’t won the cup) he’s most likely going to still be remembered as one of the best goal scorers in the league and the guy who set the modern day scoring record since Ovie with 69 goals.
But I do also agree that he establishes himself as an immediate all time great if he is to achieve some cup runs and playoff performances that stand out. It takes the right team, goalies as well as star performance. Last years series vs Tampa he had multiple games like this years game 2. If he can keep it consistent. He may end up being a true playoff performer. He’s still young at least and has time on his side to prove it. Guess we’ll see

Let's see if Matthew/Marner/Nylander can carry the leafs (assuming Nylander even comes back).

Cmon TSN You guys are totally out to lunch with your biases..
Anything less than a cup for the Oilers is a failure..
What is considered success for the leafs? getting past first round🤣🤣
Canadian media is a joke and getting worse every year..

They also commended the Oilers on their huge win last night
I love in SK and follow both teams.
There is a slight bias in terms of the best player getting a cup. So they have placed a bit more pressure on McDavid to deliver
But it's pretty much the same

He had a lot of chances off the bar a lot of attempts and defensively he was sound and that GWG was hardly a tappin a beauty of a goal, this series tho is going 7 again isn’t it 🙄 So any good close series, Avs Jets, Panthers Bolts, Stars VGK’s so many series that cud easily go to 7 as well! Only ones I see ending b4 5 games Rags Caps, Oilers Kings!
