A breathtaking moment of music from the whole orchestra as much as from Chloe Chua. Magnificent, modern, dynamic, so efficient and sharp.
Where the songs become more difficult, each time Chloe takes up the challenge and begins to shine by becoming one with the instrument and the music. Here, in my opinion, is its greatest interpretative quality that distinguishes it.

Chloe gave this performance a couple of months after her performances at the Atlanta Festival, which had included Mndelssohn's violin concerto and Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy.
While videos of the Atlanta performances were posted almost immediately, a video has just emerged of an earlier performance of the Carmen Fantasy that she had given before she went to Atlanta.

The video begins with the Lento Assai and so, sadly, is missing her performance of the first two movements. But since she plays the remaining three movements superbly, and very differently from how she played them in Atlanta, this is a fascinating and hugely enjoyable supplement.

@@apreil4821 i guess it's just different? Especially from people coming from the Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelsohhn etc since Piazolla's style is more influenced by tangos, latin music and jazz.
@@DeathAngel1029 so that’s what sounded so familiar! I’m Latin and it sounds a lot like the music from my moms hometown. It’s called Chinú and it’s in Colombia and this style sounds a lot like the music the local orchestra plays in the square once a year during a religious celebration.

But why competitions? Why not just normal, peaceful concerts, like her new Mozart?
@@kaivaon573 Competition is obligatory at her level to play with the finest and to develop her repertoire and style. The competitions introduce her to the best orchestras, maestros, teachers and organizers who will be instrumental in helping guide her journey. Also, the opportunity to see other virtuosos in competition and camaraderie should be extremely beneficial.
@@dominiccordova8347 My, probably not-so-clear, question was this: why wait for hypotetical competitions when you can just enjoy (or not) her performance? Right now, as far as I understand, she has entered the phase of concert activities, because it's vital for a musician of her level to play concerts. Any work with a conductor and a professional orchestra will be invaluable experience for her. And for that she needs her audience. An audience provides feedback. I don't know the internal situation, I am not from Singapore (my English speaks for itself), but who will pay for those concerts if there is no audience? No concerts, no future competitions for her, I am afraid. It's as simple as that.
I don't know if you're part of her audience or you know her just from a few videos. If the latter, that's okay. But if the former, why not support her?
By the way, I really like that you believe in the spirit of friendship between musicians and do not call them competitors.
@@kaivaon573 I agree with dominic cordova. You also forget that even for a young violinist as fantastically talented as Chloe, opportunities to play commercially, so to speak, with good orchestras are very limited.
I would be amazed if Chloe doesn't take every opportunity she gets to play commercially with a good orchestra. But sadly, for the moment such opportunities will be few and far between.

Prior to Chloe Chua and Christian Li in 2018, Yesong Sophie Lee(a local girl:) won the 2016 Menuhin Junior Competition(@13 yrs:), which led her to global concert and master class opportunities as a reward. This, in addition to, her long standing involvement with the Seattle Symphony and their junior program, will ensure an intelligent game plan to expose her to the world and to make her a tier one soloist one day. This will entail her involvement in competition which furthers her exposure and training. Miss Chua has the same deal going on with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and their power structure. Every musical prodigy has a similar arrangement with their regional counterparts, I would presume.

guys, it's not about anything like 40hrs a day, it is about talent or Ling Ling has better family than most of the people. Just face it, there are lots of kids practice a lot everyday, but there are few Menuhin champions. Not everybody can be Ling Ling through practice, there are too many factors matter.
