Ben's dialogue is terrific: "You're too good for me Callum, that's the truth" and "This will all end in tears, Callum, and they won't be mine". If they go that route, it would be a good way of showcasing mental health and the effect that familial relationships have. I think a lot of people can relate to having that dream of someone to love them and help hold them up when they're struggling emotionally.

In all fairness, at the time it happened Ben deserved to be written out of Phil's will considering Ben was trying to screw Phil over back then; let's not forget it was just last summer that Ben tried to murder Phil while the latter was in a coma after Stacey's attack. After Ben got shot, however, Phil made more of an effort to show Ben he loves him and even supports Ben being gay, even punching out Callum's own homophobic father. For all his faults, Phil's made more of an effort to connect with Ben, so I can see why Ben would attach himself to his dad now.
