  • We are going to go on a deep dive into the exact reasons why I chose to do my Residency Doctor/PG Training in the USA(America) over India. We will be discussing about all the exams I considered - USMLE, NEET/NEXT PG, PLAB after which I will be talking about the quality of residency training, Salary of Doctors and Resident Doctors in USA, Work-Life Balance, Risk Management and Beyond Nationalism (World Centrism).

    My two most favorite cancer doctors are from India. Iam so thankful for them and the great care they have given me for the past two years! Having breast cancer was scary at first, but their positive care giving took away my fears. I hope they stay here for always!! God bless these special people who have chosen to be our doctors! How blessed we are to have these beautiful people touch our lives. ❤️😇💕💕💕💕 thankyou!

      @@rustomparekh4740 he is not at all selfish. our whole medical system is a mess. Just see the schedules of Resident doctors, and imagine Tamil Nadu residents working more than 70 hrs a week (even 24+hrs straight and without any leaves) and at last getting just 15000 per month. Supreme Court ordered medical colleges to not exceed 12hrs of working hours for residents. Yet the order is still on papers. Govt doctors still have to work restlessly even sacrificing their personal life, no movies, no hangout, no leaves, no fun, just work in the hectic pressure, toxic environment, etc. Calling a doctor's selfish to go out of country is so pathetic... But it's not your mistake even, out Whole Media and society underestimate the work done by these Govt doctors and looting done by some private doctors is even mistaken with govt doctors. I wish our medical industry will get enough doctors soon else we are going to lose a lot of talents from here just because we didn't care about them and treated them inhumanly...

Primary Care specialities in general can get on an average salary between $180,000 to $250,000 at the maximum. Only surgical branches ( and may be interventional cardio and GI) usually have a salary between $400,000 to $500,000 on an average. Salary in millions is extremely rare .

    All the monetary benefits aside, but you must admit that USA is still 4-5 times expensive than India. So whether you earn 1.5 cr in USA it is equivalent to 30-40 lakhs in India

    • @manikmadaan
      @manikmadaan  Před 2 lety +12

      Maybe ! However if you go to Costco so many things are much cheaper than India. Property prices in Jersey and Pennsylvania are just 1.25x compared to India for the same sq. ft, but the rent is much higher which can make property a good investment there.
      That being said cities like NYC are surely expensive. If you go to restaurants food is expensive as you have to tip a lot also. So there you might be right
      There are so many other benefits in the us. For example you could work there for 10 years and come back to India.

    Good work - Only those who go through will understand better. People in India don't feel that away . They look into " green Notes" and say because of this, we move to live here . Atleast there is no reservationsss like in India. If we do well in eximas and have other credentials , we get into a residency program . Finally someone is able to appreciate the system .Thank God .
    Most important : Work ethics !! thats wnat you learn here and we work on holidays and weekends. In Banglaore at least even in a Big hospital , weekends doctor's don't show up!!! I mean the Attendings! only Junior residents comes in !. Nurses tell you " doctor is off - today is sat/ Sunday !!!!! Here in U.S we start at 7:00 AM which means you leave home at lest by 6:00 AM {based on your profession and distance to travel to work } . I love my Job and like my hard work .
    Few things I won't agree . I am from Bangalore - everyone speaks Hindi !! And Bangalore is a cosmopolitan City . Therefore you learn . Besides, most schools are English medium Schools so you are starting English from KG . Even a vegetable vender can speak to some extent as south Indian learn fast with 4 different languages they are always exposed to : Kannada, Tamil , Malayalam , Telugu , of course Hindi as many have moved from the North .
    Keep up the good work . Because I live here , able to help our country to educate orphan kids and donante , able to help our own families as most parents aren't doctors . This would be my situation . So far 4 kids are educated even to a noble profession . This gives immense happiness than all that money or having parties . Hope when you finish, help a few in india who need help . That's another good you learn here to share , to help and have empathy . Keep up your work and don't lose Focus .

    Very informative video doc! I have a doubt, while doing Residency in the US , what are your chances of paying a visit to India in the process and also after becoming a physician in the US ? Because I have heard doctors telling once you enter the medical system of any western country its hard to come to India for a home visit

      Not true - probably have/ had visa issues that they cannot go unless they sort that out. If J1 Visa , they need to go back unforutantely . Don't sign up for J1 - if need be you sign J1 - then work in under privilaged ciites/ remote places for probably 3-5 years to get your J1 waived and get H1 or Green card . People don't tell the east reason as the are soy to mention or the doctor may be having solo practice that he can't leave . Best to work for a Group / hospital not so you get vacación time. Dont ge tinto the tras of Minute system etc . Being an employee is far better than running around and have a miserable Family and personal Life. Don't run after money . do your Job correctly money will come .
