Wow....It's finally here. This has been a long time coming, I remember starting this song back in May 2022 when I was still 17. I was heavily inspired by JP Voca producers like Hiiragi Kirai, syudou, and Hachiya Nanashi, and I feel like the result is super cool to see in my style. And don't get me started on ryu's fantastic tuning. She was with me every step of the way when I was writing this song and it was so fun showing them every new update while creating the song with her. On top of that, ponkansoup absolutely blew both of us away with their video for the song. I'm so happy with how it came out and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

I think ive finally gathered the portrait story at 1:21 after watching it like 20 times.
If im understanding correctly, it's actually 3 stories that are linked.
1- at 1:20 we have an angel and a demon, then the angel's halo breaks and we see a second demon of the angel's stature. This shows that an angel had their halo broken and stolen by a demon and has fallen.
2- at 1:25 we see the same scene again but this time after the halo breaks, we see a new figure - half angel half demon - of the demon's stature. This (I believe) is the same story but it shows the second outcome of that thievery: that the demon has risen as a result of the halo's power and her command over it.
3- At 1:29 we see the angel, and then we see people whispering to her. We see the demon and then that her face has been blocked out with 'framed' (which all at once suggests that her reputation has been tarnished and that people have blocked her out, but also that the general consensus is that this was unfairly done). In the next frame, by comparison, the angel's face is completely scribbled over.
The background for the 'framed' portrait is as red as the others, but there is a shift in colour and thus tone for the scribbled out portrait; it becomes dark, accusatory, perhaps in response to the perceived unfairness of the angel towards the demon.
Finally we see a face off between the figures who ended the previous 2 stories, this time, however, the rumours have cemented them in their roles: one is an angel and one is a demon. But their features have been reversed: red eyes for the ex angel and no horns for the ex demon.
This sequence represents how the demon stole the halo, received backlash, but then rearranged that backlash as 'framing', leading to the angel being (literally) blacklisted and falling into place as a demon for good while the ex demon frolicked around in their old position.
It's a really good leadup to seeing the ex angel use the same tactic (eliciting gossip) to finally throw the demon off their high horse.
I also like how the ex angel never gets to go back to being an angel. Once they get the halo back, it's red and knackered - the person they were, and their innocence, cannot be returned and, by the looks of it, they don't want it to. It landed them in trouble in the first place.
It therefore seems likely that being a 'demon' here is a metaphor for being jaded by something, implying the first demon was likely hurting others - 'playing' with them - because of their own trauma. Hurt people hurt people. She's trying to regain what was lost by dragging others down, trying to regain control over her life by controlling a narrative or others entirely.
At the end it's not really clear if the ex angel is trying to break that cycle by refusing to use the same tactic (breaking and stealing the halo) or if this IS their way of hurting because of their hurt - getting revenge and taking the happiness away from the demon regardless of the fact that it would bring nothing back.
The lyrics definitely seem to point to the latter, but they may well be from the demon's perspective. The lyrics may well BE the very same gaslighting they accuse the ex angel of. (This is what I think).
In this case the text and pictures imply that the ex angel is trying to break the cycle of suffering; they won't hurt others, they just want to reveal the truth before others get hurt because they are NOT a fan of the 'joke'. (remember that the demon was taking a second victim when they got caught).
Anyway, those are my thoughts!

sorry to necro, but i wanted to mention i really liked your analysis. And one thing i thought that could be added, is that the lyrics could represent either the deceiving false angel, or the tattling ex-angel, everything that is sung, about hipocrisy, lies and gaslighting apply perfectly to the false angel and what she did. And in the end, she's the one that gets her comeuppance from the ex-angel.
specially at the last discordant chorus, Imagining each half of the duet as one of the girls singing makes this even evocative of the scene.

Amazing analysis! By the way, could the fact that the lyrics say:"All of the crying lies tied to your best friend's noose" mean that they were friends before the fake angel stole the ex-angel's halo?
I think that at the end of the first chorus, we see two halos around the ex-demon. She became half angel half demon by stealing the ex-angel's halo, then stole another to become a full angel, which is when she got caught by the ex-angel.
Also, at the end of the song, we see the ghost of the first halo around the ex-angel as well which I just think is cool

This is gonna sound so cheesy, but this song has been such a comfort for me. I've recently had to walk away from someone I used to consider my closest friend. They've changed and it certainly hasn't been for the better. I had a similar situation with someone who I had considered my closest and most trusted friend, but lemme tell you. It gets a lot better, I was in a rough state for a month or 2 afterwards but I realized that without his lies, dismissals, etc I was so much happier. I’ve genuinely been the happiest at a base level then I have in a long time, toxic people rly drag you down even if you don’t realize it until it’s over

I only just then realized the chess themes(?) in the song-

I didn't know there was a move like that but the name gave me chess vibes so I searched it up and I found one really close and similar to it which is the Alekhine’s block its a chess move that sacrifices the knight a bishop a queen or rook which showed in the later scenes 2:00
There is also the "A Divine gambit" searched it in google and there was one kinda similar which is the Devilish devin gambit or just Devin gambit idk

yes!!! the faint laughter is part of a "house party ambient background" sample. i wanted it to feel like the person described in the song was surrounded by all the people they had wronged in the past, everybody whispering and laughing because karma finally caught up to them. so glad you noticed this tiny detail, I hid a bunch of tiny sound design details throughout, and you're the first to notice this one!!

This one goes fully out to my ex and is actually a great comfort song. My ex was a self-proclaimed angel and he did something pretty similar to what the song tells at our "final fight" when we finally went our separate ways, he did change the narrative of our fight to make me look bad. "it's always about you", the title made me think of him as soon as i saw it. The song in it of itself is spectacular though, can't wait to see more from you.

This song sounds absolutely amazing, the chorus is very catchy and it’s tuned amazingly. It’s probably the best sounding English vocaloid song I’ve heard. I related heavily to this song as well as it reminds me of a past toxic friendship I had and if anyone wants to read how I relate to the song it’ll be under read more
In retrospect this song perfectly reflects the relationship (and end of) with me and my best friend of 5 years at that point. That last part of “it was just a joke” fucking hurt bc he would always claim shit was a joke afterwards. The lines about nothing phases you, nothing changes you also hits so true to that person. “Like always about you the universe surrounds you” this person would always expect me and our other friend to drop everything to comfort him and yet he always told us to shut up or that we where being stupid when either of us complained. The “starts with realizing the damage that you done” line also hits hard when it had come to a boil one day and me and the earlier mutual friend complained to a neutral party and they made us both realize how toxic it was and how much it has fucked up my self esteem. And again the lines abt it being a lie hit so true, he would constantly lie abt the most wierd things which is what I was so fed up abt. And the chess section sounds phenomenal but also the “All of the crying lies tied your best friends noose” relates to both how he had both finally hit my last nerve with lies and how all the lies and subtle insults and manipulation hurt his supposed best friend. Ofc the denial line that follows also fits with someone who just immediately rejects every fair argument and calls everyone weak/sensitive or “can’t take a joke” just how he pushed blame onto the other people since he could obviously do no wrong here… god even the ending text of its just all one big fucking joke hits so hard

As someone who doesn't usually like English songs, I can say confidently that this is a MASTERPIECE!!!
Your song made me realize that what modern songs lack is honesty, the lyrics felt like they are coming out of the writer's heart, and not just some random words put together to make a song. I can see serious effort in the lyrics.
The story is quite interesting as well since it touches a deep wound that a lot of people suffered from. The drawings are so well-made that they pull you instantly in, not allowing you to get distracted for even a second.

I originally came across this song when it was promoted on Tiktok (no longer use it lol) and relistening to it feels like how I genuinely felt about my emotional abuser, because I am obsessed with getting justice for what they did to me. They always wanted proof and I genuinely felt backed into a corner and now there's more allegations coming out about them, the Karma line hits hard. Especially since they only really wanted positive reception about them, this song resonates with how angry I actually am with this. @@HeaanLasai I think theres an implied setting of a school and the fact that both Angels and Demons coexist is probably after or before Judgement day, which is when Heaven and Earth became one. (Judgement day is the most sensible anime explanation for why Angels and Demons have to attend middle school)
There's also still no explanation for why Demons can turn to Angels, but it's implied that the halo has relevance.
If there's a future song that ties everything together it would probably explain the date, setting the halo and if the demons and angels were once human, since only humans can be saints(Angels) or Demons after death.
And if this is the afterlife and not just Earth and Heaven it really doesn't explain why there's a damn School in the afterlife.
This song reminds me when my best friend of 12-13 years abandoned me last year. She did it in the worst way possible and I’d been isolated at that point. She left me alone at my first film festival when we were supposed to go together. Ditched me at a con I got tickets for her birthday and was ghosted for months on end. In November I finally found out why. I thought she was depressed to the point she couldn’t leave home. But I don’t know what was true or what was fake at all. i absolutely ADORE this song, and after returning months later i think i've finally placed what makes this feel so classic vocaloid to me: the supplemental dialogue. by giving life to the characters beyond just the lyrics this mv shines with that classic vocaloid mv charm i've been missing. this story is SO incredible and everything slots together so beautifully. kudos to all the people who helped bring this mv to life!!! you all did an amazing job, i still get chills watching this the way i did the first time!
