This was an award winning gin BEFORE the celebrity involvement. By now the production has probably moved out of Oregon to a larger Diageo facility. I would not be surprised if the flavor profile has changed as well.
I can say now that Aviation came to Europe. Aviation is still made in Oregon (not even Ryan Renolds is Dumb enough to fuck with EU advertisement and place of origin laws).
personally i like bourbon and scotch, literally just went to CVS Pharmacy and got a bottle of Aviation Gin an hour ago and poured myself a glass over ice, first time ever having gin, and i absolutely LOVE it so far
I'm a whiskey guy also and randomly picked up a bottle and am loving it over ice.
I've bought dozens of other gins and always used them in cocktails, this is the first that I'm enjoying on its own
So nice to hear Scapegrace getting a shout-out. My favourite gin and it is made in New Zealand! Try the black with east imperial grapefruit tonic (or soda).
I like the bottle design and my friend absolutely loves Aviation. Oh, and Fever Tree is the best tonic indeed.
LUI!!!! Great review!!! I've seen this gin, but haven't pulled the trigger!!! I wonder how it would taste in an Aviation cocktail. Gimme that mixing glass NOW!! (Or after you get finished with it!!) CHEERS!!!
Ahhhh wow I'm such a dummy! Such a big missed opportunity here. I really should have made an aviation to try it in. Great idea Tim!
Great Channel, very good review and recommendations. You deserve a kit more views/subs.
Keep up the good work.
Subbed.
Thank you my friend!! That really makes me happy to hear! 😁 Glad you enjoy my channel. Please let me know if you have questions or suggestions of what you'd like to see!
Lui I actually like this Gin is some lighter gentler cocktails but overall I am a huge fan of getting a big punch of Juniper in Gins. Having said that I love many craft Gins. This Gin wouldn't go in a cocktail like a Negroni but I have had had some tasty cocktails with Aviation Gin. It actually didn't do too bad in a Bees Knees. But it isn't a Gin I use often. Not bad but a bit soft and mild for me. Oh wow you chose a Bees Knees!! I love that!! :-) I like a much more powerful Gin - yes love Scapegrace and St. George as well - the London Dry St. Georges. I really like the people who make St. Georges. Overall I am not a celebrity spirit fan. It's all about the quality for me. Cheers and I'd grab a Beefeater for some terrific cocktails over an Aviation Gin. Now I wish we could get a hold of some Three Fold Gin from Australia - Steve the Barman - I hear it's terrific. Citrusy and I do like that but oh do I love my strong London Dry Gins!! 🙂
"gets lost in this cocktail". My words exactly. I drink Beefeater and Schweppes tonic water, and enjoy the bite.
I tried it in a clover club and greatly enjoyed it
I got to taste it at a fancy restaurant here in Norway as they don’t sell it in liqour stores yet. Was absolutely amazing
It’s a great gin to introduce people. Not overpowering. Better into than Gordon’s. That’s what my dad drank. Turned me of gin for decades
Is there a difference between the old Tom gin in the yellow bottle and the silver bottle?
This is by far my favorite gin! Absolutely love it, super smooth and great bottle design and marketing!
The marketing is indeed great, but the other things, they're fine but nothing too special. Certainly nicer than many I've sampled in the past.
I'am tasting this gin since the beginning. Absolute masterpiece. I have compare this gin to 300 different gin's - Aviation is the no .1
I would agree with you. I don’t think it’s bad. I just don’t think it does much for a cocktail! For me it’s very much a middle of the road gin. Possibly good for a G n T. But just meh otherwise. I’m a petite person and that bottle is super cool looking but awkward to pour from. I can’t imagine using it behind the bar much. I made a gin Daisy with it on my channel. Meh.
Oh y ah definitely awkward to hold and use. But overall an okay Gin! Definitely think you nailed it there!
What's more iconic a gin n juice my guy 😎💨 now onto the next episode
Can you please review James Gin (James May from Top Gear / Grand Tour) Asian Parsnip or American Ramstud?
Its okay. My favorite gin is Plymouth. I sometimes sub Barenjager honey liqueur in place of the honey syrup in a Bees knees or other cocktails.
Interesting! I need to try that barenjager sub!
@@Lui_Fern Also... years ago while looking for some orange liqueur I ran across some Cherry Marnier Liqueur! OMG! It was so good i went back and bought his last two bottles. Delicious! Problem is... I have not found any state side since. Seen it for sale in Canada though. If you can find some... Get it!
@@lawrencespies8674 I'll keep an eye out
Crazy nose to it. Absolutely no smell unless your a centimeter away from the liquid. Smoothest gin ever, can literally sit in the mouth of a nonalcohol drinker without much struggle and it's a super complex aftertaste. You can taste literally all the botanicals
Very accurate description, nothing to add...
I've become very patriotic and only buy Australian gins - they're so good!
Yeah? Any recommendations? I'd love to try some Australian gins.
@@Lui_Fern If you see Archie Rose or Applewood (I think the distribute internationally) they're worth getting.
@@AngryCocktails I'll keep an eye out!
The fundamental mistake is that you put the liquor first and then ice. It's always ice first
If your into mainly citrus flavored Gin then save the money & just get vodka. Not sure how this would stand up to Tonic? Just my thoughts, vodka tonic is boring.
It's a good Gin...better than Bombay Gin for sure. But in Canada it's like $45 a bottle for a 750ml. I just don't think it holds a candle to Beefeater Gin that's like $30 a bottle. I ended up infusing the rest of the bottle with Mango because it wasn't really doing it for me. I guess it's a good Gin for people who don't like Gin? But that's just my take and my taste in booze isn't the same as everyone else's.
AUD63 here. Ouch.
Beefeater, Tanqueray and Plymouth gin leave Aviation gin in the dust. Aviation is overrated - good marketing, but rubbish product.
Bombay gin gave me hives
First human in!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
Yes Tim! Can always count on you 😁
CZcamsr: "I know no one really drinks gin on its own."
Me: Watching the video while sipping this gin on the rocks...
Hahahahahhaa i love it. I don't mind gin on its own myself but i know a ton of people hate it 😁😂
No rocks please 🙏
I call these kinds of alcohols 'toolbox booze' They are cheap for their quality and a little mild so you can play with it and use it for pretty much drinker.
That's a pretty cool concept hahaha i like that!
I think the best gins out there are Brooklyn Gin and Juniper Grove Atrium
Haven't tried either of those but I'll be on the lookout for it
" People don't Gin on its Own" You gotta be kidding Rookie🤦🏿♂️
i think along the lines of celebrity spirits its pretty good though not to say theres much of a bar but id rather support this one than some of the others
Yes! I like the way you broke that down! I agree
Aviation his is a neat sipper if you enjoy a refreshing lift
Use this in a negroni if you wanna highlight the vermouth... Aviation in classic cocktail proportions take a backseat to anything its mixed with.
Fords gin is better for cocktails however I am diabetic and like gin neat
It sounds boring. At the base price point, I like Beefeater. If I'm paying more, my favourite is No. 3 from The Netherlands. It's just beautiful.
Aviation is a very meh gin for me. I like St. George a lot. I haven't tried Scapegrace yet.
St. George is soooooooo good! Scapegrace is quite tasty as well
@@Lui_Fern My go to gins (for awhile now) have been Monkey 47 and Hendricks Midsummer solstice.
@@dnacheezit i enjoy both of those! The midsummer solstice was pretty good
@@Lui_Fern Have you tried McQueen and the Violet Fog? Just picked it up yesterday but haven't tried yet...
@@dnacheezit i haven't yet actually. I've heard a lot about it and apparently it's a Brazilian gin which is interesting to me but I just haven't tried it yet.
Please let me know what you think of it when you try it!
Aviation gin isnt my favorite. Really lacking in flavor as you said. Its very close to just vodka. I think it has a metallic taste as well. I think for gins in the price range brokers has aviation beat.
Monkey 47 is my gin of choice.
Hey Lui! Do you do collabs?
I prefer Soda water to tonic. Tonic makes me ill.
It’s not bad I drink it straight on the rocks
It's very mild tbh
Rate the Gin, not a mixed drink you made. 🙄🙄🙄
Did he say formerly…
How about 32 dollars in Tulsa today
$22 bucks are you kidding, it’s $80 in Australia for the 750 mil.
Woah! That's insane. Def not worth 80 dollars
@@Lui_Fern yes sir, Dan Murphies, Australia’s biggest liquor store, $79.99.
AUD63 …..
Its like 25€ in Europe. That price is okay, but you can almost get Malfys for the money. Like it a lot more
Honestly, it's kinda trash in my opinion. Definitely worth the 20 bucks though. I guess I'm just spoiled though and I also like my Gin to taste like a Christmas tree smells
Gin kwatro kantos ( Ginebra ) Philippines #1 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
"Owned by Ryan" is a bit of a misleading lie. Davos owned the majority stake of the brand, which they recently sold to Diageo. Gin it self is pretty mediocre for the price.
it’s ryan reynolds it dosent matter if it’s good
WTF??? You actually believe because a celebrity is attached to a product you should overpay for mediocre gin. You must be a silly American teenager!! 😂😂😂😂
This Gin fr reminded me of the taste of diapers. Not dirty, but diapers. It was not burny like lots of Gin but the taste was the fukin worst....
Do you eat diapers often or what? 😂
@@dimitarapostolov9788 good one haaaaa
Kids diapers. changed enough of em to know.
Not every wine drinker eats oak 😀
In the same class as TITO's Vodka.
No thanks.
I like Tito’s. Unless it has changed, it was pretty great for the price.
@@AM2PMReviews Made in Indiana, not Texas as is implied by the advertising and made from corn. Corn, the cheapest available grain. Sickeningly sweet. Millennial juice.
@@jeffhildreth9244 well I thought it was unique compared to other vodkas that were way over rated such as grey goose. It seems smoother with corn.
@@AM2PMReviews Smooth or unctuous? Agree with Grey Goose, a marketing miracle.
No it's not worth the price.
Aviation Gin is absolute rubbish. There are so many better tasting gins on the market.
