- I make pancakes every now and then for dinner for my wife and son. They are always in awe of my mad pancake skills. I keep telling them, it's not that hard to make really good pancakes. I just had to shoot a quick video showing how I make them. Hope this helps others impress their families as well. #inkidreferralcode tomstestkitchen
I always burn or undercook my pancakes. thanks for making this video. it helped alot
That's awesome, glad it helped!
same here, always burn or undercook mine. this video helped me too
SkywardStudio nice
Thats sad
me too
Sometimes, the secret is in the pan you're using
aint the damn truth
jayceepie which is the best?
Also the fat
Using butter is different than oil
I prefer oil
My son-in-law makes incredible pancakes. I finally got his secret. He adds vanilla extract to the mix. It's hard to believe how much that affects the flavor! Try it on some of your new batches...
i always like to add a little vanilla extract to some of my recipes, it just adds that little extra flavor
I always add..it's not new
Im gonna use vanilla ice cream
@@3acartoontv1234but not everyone does so stfu
i like to add almond extract! so good
This was so dang relaxing to watch. His voice is so soothing and dad like. It’s honestly super comforting.😂
I can be ur dad if u don’t got one
Idk why so many people disliked this video, it's very helpful
I found that adding a tad more water to the batter helps and using really low heat throughout the whole process helps.
I always burn mine. 😢 I want to properly learn so I can make them for my husband and our children. Thank you for this video. It has came in handy. God Bless you sir. 🙏🏾
It looks like an angel made those pancakes
Step 1. Use the right equipment. You need a high, even heat and a thick metal.
Step 2. Don't way too long to flip the pancake. Each side should be cooked approximately 55% (first side) and 45% (second side). You have here cooked the pancake entirely on its first side. By 3:30 its dried out. And then youre just browning the other side for a bit.
@1:40 you can see the edges of the pancake are starting to take on a shiny jelly-like appearance. But then from then on the colour starts to fade and the top of the pancake is losing its shine
Turn the pancake before it starts to dry out and observe the colour of the bottom side of the cake. Is it too light (a light golden brown is too light) or too dark (dark brown like well done toast), then the heat source for the hotplate needs to be adjusted.
Step 3. Leave to cook on second side until colour on both sides match. But it is acceptable for second side to be tad lighter than first side. Make a crack in the bottom of the pancake, using a spatula or other implemenet, and observe whether or not theyre is still wet mixture inside.
Should take about 2 minutes tops to cook a pancake.
is it on medium heat or high heat
You do not need thick metal...
@@Mike-sp4iz hi i'm having the same troubles, have u found any solution?
@@Mike-sp4iz yeah I think you're right, I just made some pancakes and they came out well cooked but with a gummy flavor, I must have screwed up on the measurements
Based upon your 2 minute tops theory, the ones shown would be like leather. He didn’t flip until over 2.5 minutes.
I can make pancakes taste perfect, but the problem I have is trying to get it golden. Anyone else have the same problem?
Me me me🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Wait until it looks kinda think on the sides and has bubbles on them. Or just flip them early and than cook the other side till golden
Try lowering the heat
Get golden spray paint and put it on it
When I flip them it loses its shape
Althought there are LOTS of bubble and it became Golden from underground
Is it just me or is this Hank Hill????
Well, I do live in Texas and I like propane and propane accessories.
God Dang it Bobby! The pancake is overcooked!
Tom's Test Kitchen are you a. Cowboys fan
at 3:24 he says something and it sounds exactly like hank
For 2012 this is really good camera quality
I actually didn't even know this was 8 years old!
2009 already had 720p...
I didnt realize this was from 2012, wow, great quality for the time period
11 years ago and it is still helpful!
the fact that hes like. talking about how many ppl dont know how to make em, but not in a rude way, and hes all calm talkin about his advice, is whats keepin me interested. thank u dude i have NEVER been told these things about makin pancakes😭
WHen I turn my pancake in other side it always break 😌
Maybe a bigger spatula?
I could be wrong, I’m not 100% sure, but maybe you’re flipping them too early?
(I’m not a professional)

@@anad4809 I like the amount of fair warning you gave lol
@@xavierkane37 Hahahah shhh
shouldve watched this before i cooked my pancakes. mine came out crushed.
Thank you! I've been trying to find a real-time video that actually shows what the pancake should look like before I turn them over and not just a cooking time estimate. You have helped us heaps!
Thank you!!! I’m a waffle girl, but my husband loves pancakes! I always manage to mess them up, but this time it went okay! Thank you for your video!!!
Thanks brother I have learnt a life skill that I will pass down the generations!
“frozen LEGO brand”
what the
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ego
good job! I have been flipping when i see the bubbles! I should have waited!
sago dana
Me too. That is how I was taught. I also think I had the heat up too high.
Me too
I think that explains the undercooking of mine
SO IS THE HEAT HIGH? MED HIGH? MED? LOW? I WANT TO DO THIS RIGHT
My first time making homemade pancakes, and they were so light and fluffy! Thanks for this
Pancakes were the first food I've ever cooked! Maybe when I was about 9? They were really nice too! I kinda just winged it and watched my grandma every time she made them.
Thank you for making it in real time! I get very impatient w/ pancakes. This video has helped me!😊
Lego Brand pancakes don't step on em
LEGO brand pancakes are the best! You can build all kind of stuff before you eat them! They come on sets though...
I suck at cooking. I can make mac n cheese, eggs, ramen. REALLY basic stuff.
But when I flip a pancake, it turns into a mound cake lol
I really needed this video, thanks! ^^
Thanks! Haven’t made pancakes in years and this helped me to get a reference of what to look for. I made some incredible blue berry pancakes.
Best video on CZcams. Been failing at this for awhile and finally I made a total of 14 pancakes and didn’t burn any of them. Thank you
That's awesome!
I'm looking at these amazing crafted pancakes video whilst I'm making my ever first and my bloody boyfriends upstairs waiting on them 😐 yeahhh goodluck me 😂
you guys hear that " the top starts to turn draa"
lmaooo, I came to the comments just to see if I'm the only one who heard that
😂
I know, I love that accent. What part of the U.S. is that?
redplague the south lol ~ sincerely a southerner
Look how moist it is now i got my answer
My pancakes are to dry and hard more like dough .....
So that's why I'm getting burnings and not beautiful circle shapes
Tnx brother
This really helped! Thanks a lot! 😅 I had a craving for pancakes in the middle of the night so this was my savior
Thank you for this great vid. Haven’t made pancakes since I was about 11 but today I finally did I’m 23 now😭
thanks for the video. I never know when to flip them. You made it easy.
When I turn my pancakes into the other side it always break and it turns into a crepe it always burn 😂😂
Bruhh same😂 I always exited to flip it and now I learn how
Me too i just made my first pancakes and they turned out to be crepes instead. Had to search for a pancake cooking video
a trypophobic persons nightmare
I never thought about that but you are right.
I SWEAR
Gowtaye Imperial No it wasn't...it still affects me
Gowtaye Imperial yeah I mean a cluster of them like you see in a honeycomb really disturb me and make my head pain idk why but I can't stand them
Buggy Angel I mean, technically Trypophobia isn’t real... It doesn’t get you irrationally scared.
If you end up disappointed with a "Just add Water" box of pancake mix because your pancakes end up raw in the center, no matter how long you leave it on the stove, I have a couple of tips that fixed that. I tried so many tips such as flipping only once, letting the batter rest, using oil instead of butter to cook it on the pan, and they still were raw in the center. But this time I added a little bit of baking powder (the box said it had some baking soda, but maybe not enough) and an egg to my mix. I didn't over mix the batter, I let it rest a little before cooking them, and my pancakes turned out fine! I guess some mixes just need little adjustments.
I'm boutta make pancakes and if this happens I'll be sure to use these tips. thanks lmao
I always add baking powder and egg but then my pancakes still raw In the middle 😢
Thanks for helping my high ass out at ten mins till 2 am 😂😂😂.
Mine never ever come out that pretty
Thanks for making this vid, learning how to make perfect pancakes
I’m afraid of over mixing my pancake mix so now I make them thicker and then the middle is always uncooked. Pancakes shouldn’t be this hard 😭😤
@@Mike-sp4iz lmao
So simple but so hard to many. Thanks for sharing.
I know, right?
I actually spread my butter on my pancake then put Maple syrup. It's so good!
Perfect pancakes! I’ll attempt to make these tomorrow morning! Wish me luck! 😂
Out of all the videos I saw, yours had the perfect color!
Top is always still liquid when the bottom is burnt and stuck to the pan?
Thanx to your video, my pancakes are much easier to flip when cooking. Just did a small batch and they turned out great
Thanks, glad it helped!
You taught me how to make pancakes! Thanks a lot)
Yesterday I spent two hours making pancakes but failed to flip even a single one...,☹️
Use milk it will have more taste and taste really good I tried it I just don’t use water
That’s what my dad does he adds milk instead of water but when he get those pancake boxes instructions said use “only water” but my dad just adds milk to it and it tasted very delicious
This video saved my life
Your pancakes look lovely. I followed the directions for Aunt Jemima's formula, with what was in the box but milk instead of water & an egg because I wanted a thicker pancaked. I added 2 peached diced up. Then I cooked them on low for less than a minute & they burned. I would leave photos here if I could. I hate throwing out food and these taste awful.
The bubbles are not from the water. They are from the levening (baking powder) in the mix. Nice video.
Ah, that makes sense, thanks
Tom's Test Kitchen I love this video thanks so much!
dftexmex Fik thats true
Looks pretty descent pancake..i did it too
Lol.. True true.. I make pancakes from scratch.. Was just saying same.. You can make the mix without baking powder and u'll get the flat look instead of puffy.. Taste good too
I suck, this helps
You are welcome
This is going to blow up some day, trust me🥶🥵
Bro this is 8 years old this is never blowing up
@@yorujonn4287 11 now and still hasn't blown up
If i leave it that long after pouring they end up black. medium heat
thank you so much we learn alot to you
Very informative video Thomas Test Kitchen. Cruiser Chris World network is connected with you and looks forward to seeing more of your videos in the future
I was amazed at my husband's laundry skills 😉. It's been 14 yrs that every Sunday he has been doing the laundry. Being amazed and letting them think they do it better works for just about everything but not cleaning the bathrooms.
That's slavery. You do it you little bitch
I see what you did there! Hilarious! BC he said his wife is amazed at his pancake skills. Hahaha
Thank you Tom you just helped me Make pancakes 😭😭😭😭🙏🏿
Perfect ..it's delicious pancake..
witch craft, they look amazing!
I don't think you mention how hot you make your pan. Is it medium heat? Medium low? Also, would love to see a regular powdered mix instead of the method you used. That would help. Thank you.
well done!!
I need help. I am using a griddle and I sprayed it with oil and used slightly less then a 1/4 of batter on griddle and they are not solid color. Just random colors with gooey patches. Help please.
👍🏼🛎thanks for the tip 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, thank you! You really helped me stop burning my pancakes. Mine came out like yours. I'm just glad I didn't burn a lot of them like I used to. :D
+Snowwhite Queen That's Great, you are welcome.
I really love to have some you know
Thanks. The bottom didn't look done. Shouldn't it get holden brown, as well?
Great tips.... Really appreciate your time...... Well done.
Every time I cook some pancakes, I set the griddle on medium heat (heat setting 5). I pour the batter on the griddle without cooking oil. And it came out result to be dark brown. How can I make my pancakes light brown?
I put the pan on the heat ring on full heat then put the pancake mix on then leave on for about 10 seconds then turn off the ring and leave it for about 1 minute and for me every time it nice and golden
I prefer waffles but I love pancakes too... those look good! To whatever waffle or pancake mix I'm using, I always add a touch of vanilla and a touch of cinnamon.... good cook!
I've been doing pancakes wrong my whole life I'm going to try making them this morning your way, thanks so much for this video, real-time cooking :-) XO
Were they good
Thanks for the tips man gonna go make the wife some now since she has been begging me to do so for a while just didn't want to burn them lol
He has low mid heat and good use of oil and ill be doing that soon cook slow
Excellent video. Made pancakes about a week ago and they looked like hash browns....
That must be very low heat. Also do you preheat he pan before cooking.
good tips, and I love breakfast for dinner! Thumbs Up!
Hi If made a banana oat pan cake, is there any way to have the nice brown well spread smooth color like yours? My pancake color is with ugly dot brown patches not consistend colour.
That's probably from the bananas, maybe mix in a little lemon juice with the bananas, that's how I make banana bread and it doesn't come out so dark.
I need to pre heat it on high and then lower it when i pour the batter ?
Whatever you guys do don’t pat you pancakes with the spatch it’ll make it loose it’s fluffy ness
Great video
But sir do I put it on low? Because everytime I put them on their for a few minutes they burn so I’m confused on what setting you put your stove on.
Now I'll be craving pancakes all night! heh heh. Guess I'd better cook some eggs and sausage while I'm at it.
If you wait that long to flip it they usually come out very dry.
medium low or medium high head this would be around a 3-4 on some stoves
My problem is ,getting them to bubble on top and being flat. They still taste delicious!
Theyre soo beautiful. Lol mine would burn if I actually leave them that long. Also i suck at flipping them
This looked perfectly good.
That's amazingly perfect
What’s the name of that container you used to pour them
Awesome vid. Thanks.
My pancakes always come out like bricks. I need this.
Thank you so much you helped me a lot
I love real butter Tom.
I got to realise pancakes need patience as u wait for those bubbles😋
Nice looking fresh pancakes.
This is way too old video!! WHO IS 2019 HERE AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE???
