  • Get the Klein Tools IR2000 (former model....I will replace with new version when available) at Amazon -- www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-IR2...
    Here is more info direct from Klein's website -- www.kleintools.com/catalog/inf...
    Klein tools just released this new infrared thermometer to replace the older IR2000 model, and I really like the features that they built into it.
    It has "dual lasers" for sighting in exactly what you are measuring the temperature reading on, and that helps remove a lot of the guesswork when trying to be as accurate as possible. They include a "K-type thermocoupler" for taking precise temperature readings or those out of the normal IR range, which can be used at the same time as the IR readings, so you can literally monitor two different things at the same time.
    They have a standard 1/4-20 tripod mount built into the bottom of the unit, so you can have it aimed at a work surface & it will scan in a stationary position as you free up both hands to keep working.
    Infrared thermometers are some of the most useful tools in any garage, and the ability to know exact temperature readings very quickly will not only help you locate problems....it will help ensure that they have been fixed also.
    Check out the video to see the IR2000A for yourself!

    That's interesting that the lazer is on the bottom. Most are on top. I'm not a fan of the 2 dots. I'd rather have the circle like the General brand. They are good for inspecting electrical connections in a breaker panel. You can also see if any breakers, or fuses, are getting hot. I got the pulsing lights out of my house from using one of these guns. The main was slightly loose. Now problem solved. A space heater was on a dedicated circuit. The shop had an external fuse in line in front of the receptacle. It was 118⁰ F. Changed it out & now it's 67⁰ F. You can also aim these at receptacles to see if any are getting warm. Cool tools to have indeed.

    Thanks for the review.
    I have not seen much on your channel regarding measuring instruments in general.
    If you have not done so already, would you consider doing a review of digital calipers and micrometers?
    All the best to you from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

    It’s been 7 years since your review and I’m looking for a dependable product. I keep reading reviews on various models that stop working after being in a drawer for 6 months or are off by 15 degrees. Can you recommend a good product in 2022 . I don’t need a lot of features , just need to know the temperature. Thanks for your great reviews

    does this unit take the temp of liquid without plugging in the probe?

    Good review, Sir! Looks like another fine product from Klein tools. I already have a decent IR sensor though so you get none of my money tonight. I'm sure the wife will thank you though. As always, thank you for uploading!

    Great review. that's a good inferred thermometer. I have a UEI version that I use as a technician in the HVAC field. I like that klien version. its nice to take two readings at once.

      Emin HVAC Thanks Emin! I was planning to show people how to verify their central a/c was working correctly by measuring the temp difference of the return vent & supply vent...but it was way too cold here to get the a/c to kick on....so maybe in a future video :)

      Well you could have done that with the heat if you have a furnace. Wear are you located.

    The dual dot system this has is a really good idea. I don't think most people really know about D:S ratio and this makes it very obvious and takes any ambiguity out of it.

      Jared Shaffer I agree....it will definitely take the "guesswork" out of trying to find out what you are taking a temp reading on.

      SKILLEDSKONKA (FrankieG) Thanks FrankieG! The first one I got was from Lowes....to me, the cheaper varieties all look like they are made in the same factory with different colored plastics.

    Is there a difference between the IR2000A you reviewed and the IR2000 in your Amazon link?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 9 lety

      Michael Gleason As far as I know, they added better drop protection & changed the color scheme. I dont think amazon sells the new version yet.

    That's one of those things that I would need 1 or 2 times a year. It's for that reason that I have never went out and bought one. Again, a very nice review. If I ever do decide to buy one, The Klein IR2000 will be the first one that I consider.

    I have a flir thermal camera and man does seeing the whole pic is so much better in my opinion but most people can't afford them heck took me a year to save up

      Djthunder PSN I saw those online recently.....I will have to check them out. I did get to use the Milwaukee thermal imager back in August when I went to the annual Milwaukee event & it is pretty cool to see the actual termal signature VS a standard temp only. I guess those would be extremely useful in finding air leaks in ductwork or around doors/windows.

    How to calibrate

  • @eqlzr2
    @eqlzr2 Před 8 lety

    How much difference would there have been in the temps of the hot tea and the ice water by just pointing the sensor at the liquids rather than using the plug-in probe? Would the liquid temps have been essentially what you saw with the plug-in probe? If not, why not? Thanks.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 8 lety

      +eqlzr2 The temp probe would measure the temp touching the probe.....the laser would measure the average of an area between the laser dots (in a circle) and the surface tamp could be different than the temp below (i.e. --- measure internal temps when cooking meat/poultry/pork).....probably not a big difference with the cups of liquid, but it was merely to prove that the temp probe worked. That would be used primarily in situations where you couldnt easily measure with the laser (i.e. ---- inside a vent....where the laser would hit the grate & give a false reading).

      David G Well, I think this particular model is designed more-so for the pro VS the diyer....it has a TON of different features that I didnt even touch on, since I am not sure how to show them in action. But for the DIYer, I can see your point ;) This is definitely a model that an electrician or HVAC tech would use on a daily basis.

    • @FrenchValleyAirport
      @FrenchValleyAirport Před 9 lety

      Do they have like a "base" model just for a diyer
