  • Mo Pitney - If I Could Only Fly
Mo Pitney performing a great Blaze Foley tune If I Could Only Fly. Mo is obviously influenced heavily by Merle Haggard's version and he sings this flawlessly. Recorded at the Arlington Music Hall in Arlington, TX. 3/15/2024

Mo can sing any of Merle's material and I would listen for sure. Thanks for editing and posting this for those of us who couldn't be there, in person. I'm sure Mo wanted to "ONLY FLY" to be with (wife) Emily and their 3 kids.

Thanks for posting, s t least it's something from Mo. I love Mo's voice, his music & his faith. But not this cover of Merle's song. Why he chose to chop it up into this irregular rhythm is a mystery. Maybe he was tired? One gospel group I loved ( disbanded now bc of member deaths, sadly) did an entire album once with backphrasing, it was awful. Mo wasn't doing that, but this wasn't a good choice whatever it was. Shame bc his voice is so, so beautiful.
He looks good too. Haircut really suits him.
His own YT channel hasn't had anything new in ages. Is something wrong going on?

It isn’t a cover of a Haggard song; it’s a cover of a Blaze Foley song.
