  • The Toyota Land Cruiser is known for being a super-capable off-roader, but did you know the 2021 Land Cruiser tow rating was 8,100 lbs? It's 1,100 lbs more than the sister 2021 Lexus LX570 tow rating, and even though the 2021 Land Cruiser is going away after this model year, we wanted to see how well it towed compared to the LX 570. Here's how to set up your 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition for towing and how it behaved towing an enclosed trailer for 600 miles. Toyota sent us a 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition for towing review, the special "final edition" of the 200-series Land Cruiser. Notable differences with the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition include bronze BBS wheels, a Yakima roof rack, unique grille, and old-school Land Cruiser badging on the C-pillars.

    MSRP for a 2000 Land Cruiser is around $52,000 USD in 2000; adjusted for inflation, it would be around $85,000 USD today (2021). The 2021 Land Cruiser is priced literally the same as the LX470 and Land Cruiser 20 years ago. $65,000 USD today is approximate $41,000 USD back in 2000. Back in 2000, you cannot buy a new Land Cruiser for $41,000 USD. $41,000 USD in 2000 will get you a Lexus RX300 or a 3rd gen 4Runner Limited ($35k in 2000). We just get paid less today because pay lags behind inflation.

    Navigator, Escalade, Tahoe High Country, Yukon Denali, Aviator .....all cost as much and will be on a used car lot in 5 years with half the ‘gadgets’ not working for 35,000.00. The LC will just be breaking in.😎

    Bought a brand new 2020 Land Cruiser and honestly it's the best decision ever made when it comes to a vehicle.

    Agree with Tank size. It’s terrible even for everyday use, the Tundra gets 38 gallons. There is an Aux tank that can be added, but super annoying to have to add that aftermarket.

      You can get a 1VD FTE turbo diesel V8 overseas with better fuel economy. 24.7mpg highwaya and more torque than the 5.7.
      They can be imported for around $12k. Not sure what total costs would be but most of it should bolt in.
      Add the LRA 20 gallon auxiliary tank and you could probably drive across the country with just two fill ups.

    Those BBS wheels look so good! Agree with your review - $90k luxury and no carplay? It's 2021, come on!

      If CarPlay is the only thing stopping you, can add after market for $1,600. A small annoyance but not really a big deal.

    I wonder if prices for these will go wild in a few years being the last year of them.

      yeah the prices on these are already climbing. I have a 2015 land cruiser and put in an order for 2021 at my local dealership. I am number 3 in the waitlist which tells me the demand is there which in turn means the prices will only go up. Toyota is delivering these only until September of 2021.

    My understanding was the LX was not going away in the US. Are you saying we will no longer get the 300 series LX, which believe will be the LX 600?

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  Před 3 lety

      At the time of the video's publication, all signs pointed to both Land Cruiser and LX going away, with LX being replaced by a unibody three-row called LQ. But... all rumors at this point and it does sound like an LX 600 might be in the works? In any case, the Land Cruiser 300-series will not be sold in the United States and Toyota has confirmed that.

      @@OutMotorsports agree, Toyota has been clear we are not getting a 2022 land cruiser. last year lexus registered the LX 600 in the US and they have given no indication that it will be cancelled, so are you just speculating? The video sounded very factual that we are not getting the 300 series LX in the US, I personally find it helpful for folks to identify what is fact vs. speculation.

    seems as though the 2021 Toyota Landcruiser has the same body style as the 2014 Lexus LX 570. I'm comparing the rear window glass cut out / shape, its basically idententical.

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  Před rokem +1

      Yep, they are the same generation of truck and are 100% related, differing in some ways but not too too many. For 2022, the Land Cruiser and LX move to a new generation but only the LX is sold in the United States.

  • @Garagegraderacecar
    @Garagegraderacecar Před 3 lety +1

    Its not just the Land Cruiser price... ALL car prices are up to levels where folks need to prepare for a $1k/month payment lol... i'll be taking my tundra to 1 million miles

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  Před 3 lety +1

      Everything is expensive! But at $90k... most buyers will wander to a luxury brand and end up in a GLS, Range Rover, X7, etc. with an objectively "nicer" interior, more tech, and more power/torque. Or they'll save a substantial amount and get a Tahoe, Expedition, Sequoia. Unfortunately the LC and Lexus LX are both in this odd spot where they're incredibly capable but pricing hinders 'em.

      @@OutMotorsports $90k... luxo-tow mule ish life... you might as well look at the high end pickup trucks. i need toyota to hit the mark on the next tundra... and it cant cost more than a cyber truck

    Struts = structural part of the suspension
    Shock = just a shock absorber. Suspension does not collapse if shock is removed.
    This likely has a shock and spring in the rear, not a strut.
