Wow...Had no idea the Landcruiser was that legit. Crushing a disconnected Gladiator Rubicon that easily is very impressive and he didn’t even have to press a button or change anything.
Galdiator Rubicon. I think a JLUR is a better comparison. Still, the big beastie does well!
I believe it’s the because the suspension is setup for towing and payload, also the wheelbase is longer.
The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon has a longer wheel base and the suspension is setup for towing and payload and is capable off-road.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon years 2018+ have a CTI flex ramp score of 489 with sway bar connected & 636 with sway bar disconnected.
I am a fan of all the 4x4 vehicles.
Thank you for the real-world science test.
I like the fact that this guy is talking in a normal tone and nkt screaming.
3:50 its a legal requirement in australia and most countries that vehicles with active suspension must raise the rear first and lower the front first due to headlight height dazzling oncoming traffic
That's the dumbest regulation ever... What person decides to suddenly change their ride height while driving through traffic? Plus air suspension never lets you use the max clearance setting when driving over a certain low speed. Making that regulation even more pointless, as the dazzling could only occur at circa 10 mph, in which its not that much of an issue. Stupid regulations, cba with all this bureaucracy ruining cars, the EU especially have sucked all the joy out of new cars.
@@zackirstein9233 You may be going 10 mph while lifting Your suspension, but that does not say anything about oncoming traffic ;)
@ZacMcShane That still wouldn't prevent the headlight from dazzling oncoming traffic. Tf does raising the back do? The headlights will still flare up suddenly.
This is what real car reviewing and comparison should be like..Great job sir!
I absolutely love my LX... because it is based on the LC, but I have the old 100 series. Toyota makes the best off road and Overland vehicle on the planet. Reliability alone is why it is THE vehicle you see around the planet in the most extreme conditions, where people's lives depend on it. I certainly wouldn't trust anything Italian like a Jeep for reliability.
hmm this video deserves more views
@@mc3films this test is really informative. We have to thanks Dan for this
Thank you for this engaging analysis. Could you do a wheels-off review of the Land Cruiser 200’s suspension sometime? The KDSS is pretty special. As they say in Australia: If you want to go to the Outback, go in a Land Rover. If you want to come back from the Outback, go in a Land Cruiser.
Landcruiser door shuts like a tank. Good job man!
KDSS is pretty impressive with allowing stuffing that front IFS wheel.
*JEEP* has left the chat.
The Wrangler Rubicon has a shot at it. And that's a more likely competitor than the Jeep pickup.
@@DanEdmunds Dan, about the LX570. Was it in low range when you went up the ramp? Because apparently when put in low range the car's AHC will go into an "extra high" mode.
@@electrikoptik I played with that, and it seems that there have been operational changes since it was introduced in 2010(?). I wanted to test the LOWEST mode that would clear the ramp, and as you can see, there's isn't much margin here, so I'm there. A higher setting would have produced a worse number.
I love the land cruiser. But a wrangler would absolutely destroy this. Live axles front and rear and disconnecting sway bars. Not shot for the land cruiser. I would bet the wrangler go do right over top before it lifts a tire. Land Cruiser though, such a nice all around vehicle.
Happy that you popped up in my recommendations. Love the comparison
Great camera work. No stupid trap/dub step music. Straight to the point narration . 5 star video
“You don’t want to scratch the nice paintwork”

I love this suv.... I am a Toyota land cruiser boy. I donot have one but I love it.

some testing this, Mr. Edmunds! Loved it!
I don't know why I got this recommendation but loved it. Subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Next, the Mercedes G wagon and Land Rover.
Also, Land Cruiser Prado VS Lexus GX 460 VS 4Runner
keep making these off road comparisons, i love it Dan!!! huge fan
I watched this video more than five times. I liked it a lot and I hope to see other videos soon. I wish you all the best.
Glad I came across this hidden gem of a channel. Thanks for the great content sir!
Thanks. Stay with me. I have to take a break because of work commitments, but there will be more of these!
Gosh I love how often you turn the engine off, just so you can turn it back on again and have those 5.7s blow my ear drums out
Best technical and practical comparison. Thank you Dan 🙌
Great video man. Your input of trigonometry just changed the status upwards. Am impressed. Your fan from West Africa.
After scratching, at 05:10 its good to say " None of this is me" 😁😁😁🤣😃😁😁
Man those scratch marks perfectly correspond to the teeth on the ramp 😂😂😂😂 its not your fault lexus needs to cover this one 😂😂👏🏼👏🏼
love this video, keep up the work Dan!
I have always loved the Land Cruiser. It just goes about it’s job and does it.
What a review! great stuff man well done, greetings from Saudi Arabia

Informative and geeky...

Great comparison Dan...Subscribed!
I can't leave without subscribing. Great video, awesome cars!!
Land cruiser is meant for off road and luxury
But lexus is pure luxury and is not meant for offroad
Off road Yes, but there's nothing luxurious about a Land cruiser, just utility!
@@tretchroots9803 wrong, the landcruiser 200 series is a luxury SUV, the 79 series landcruiser however that Australia has and America doesn't is a utility vehicle.
@@zulfiqarkhan2807 The Lexus can perform all the same tricks as the Landcruiser. Just be prepared to cry when you damage it.

Factual, too the point, no fuss, good channel.
Well done mate
Great video. I've been comparing the two to determine which to purchase, if at all. This is the most informative video I have seen on this critical construct. Thank you!
I’ve got a 2019 land cruiser and a 2014 Lexus lx 570 sport edition and I love both. I use the land cruiser for hill climbing in the desert and the lx 570 for speeding on the highway
Ooh, nice comparo!
the LEXUS has a loud engine noise I just noticed it lauder than the diesel variant!. I am glad found this guy did this kind of review
you're deserves many viewers actually.. i hope you will reach that soon..
Yes. It takes time. I'm being patient. I'm hoping that CZcams notices soon. As much as I have mixed feelings about ads, I'm getting no return except positive comments. Those are GREAT, but these take time to make.
I liked this video! It would have been interesting if you went into a bit more depth as to why the land cruiser did better, beyond the bumpers. I'm looking forward to more content :)
The bumpers were a lot of it. Also high mode. If you raise a car with air suspension, you do it by making the springs stiffer and less able to compress. That ruins articulation. Now, if the LX had had its normal bumpers, I could have cleared the ramp in normal mode, which has less air in the air springs, which makes them softer. In all likelihood this same truck might have come very close the the TLC if I could have run it up the ramp in normal mode because the springs are softer and more compliant in that height mode.
I laughed to hard when he said the front spoiler is a real spoiler for not letting it go up the ramp 😂
This here's is a nice one to watch. Thank you
This was fantastic and the great SUVs and content and that is why I am going to subscribe !
Welcome aboard! I appreciate the sub. Please check out my other recent videos!
Soooooo, I guess that's why I saw alot of land cruisers when I traveled to Dubai 🤔🤔🤔
Evanthi Premarathne nah its just a really good car for all types of useage and mostly we use nissan patrols
The Lexus really has this presence about it
Yes you're right when the rear goes up the front dives down a little before going up! Had a 2010 LX570 and always noticed that.

It's very nice Mr. Dan.
This making me rethink getting a GX460 next year. Whoo wee!!! That clearance is just... Much! *chef's kiss*
On another note, I think I'm your 10,000th subscriber! Congratulations!!!!
Scientific calculator and Mathematics . 10/10 to this video.
Very interesting and informative. Would be great to get a standard LX570 with no sport bumper and see with the suspension in normal mode whether there is better articulation. I have a LX570 and must way the places it goes with road tires is impressive. I had a LC100 1HDFTE with rear diff lock before and it felt like a more capable rig, but I do think there would be situations where the CRAWL control on the newer cruiser/LX would be an advantage.
Another note, you definitely feel the extra weight of the LX570 offroad vs the LC100.
I can say having had 2 different LC100's in the past ('99 without AHC and 06" with AHC), the non AHC Cruiser had better articulation offroad, but the AHC rig had better ground clearance, handing and comfort.
Good job. I'm pleased with your work. Thanks.
I am here not knowing what is going on but I am still watching... Amazing video man
Lexus LX570 is super luxury car, it should be compared with Bentley SUV not with land cruiser😉🤞
Would love to see this test for a Land Rover LR3/LR4 or a new Disco would be great to see how they compare to the Land Cruiser

Thanks! Excuse what will be a slight gap to the next video -- I just landed a full time job and won't have the entire week to work on shooting and editing. But this channel will live on!
I would love to see a leaderboard for the cars based on which one has a better suspension..say start with the ones you already showed like the mx-5, panamera, veloster and more to come..
Thanks.
Wow. That's awesome flex considering that the TLC has independent front suspension. I wonder how an 80 series would do with it's solid front axle. Dan, are you going to do a suspension walkaround too?
Awesome. Loved the cool garage review.
Awesome video!!
Hi Dan,
Great video and comparison!! My question to you is that why didn't you directly measure the distance on ramp, rather than measuring the perpendicular and then calculating the hypotnuse? Was it a limitation of the length of the measuring tape you were using?
Because the ramp doesn't come to a point. It's got a blunt nose. Even though its an extra step, the climb distance I get this way is what it would have been if the ramp came to a sharp point.
@@DanEdmunds Thank you for your reply. I agree with your logic. Thanks for clearing my doubt. 😊
Hey Dan, I’ve been trying to convince someone to RTI a 4Runner TRD Pro vs 4Runner TRD Off Road. I have a OR but no access to a Pro or I’d do this video myself. I think OR is better than pro for off-roading and an RTI would help me win that argument. Can you do it? Might get good views for you too. Go KDSS!
I don't even have knowledge about this sort of things... But every explanations from this guy is better than my teachers.

Two of the best SUVs on the planet! Wish the heritage had a jumpseat option.
God, I know there are many good vehicles out there that I like G-Wagon, some Rolls Royce, Bentleys, Dodge demon, etc. However, all i'm asking for is one of these two vehicles in my life. Is that too much to ask?
This is absolutely a very good channel!
This is the review I needed.
Real & practical test. Tyvm.
1 thumbs up & 1sub & shared to my boss.
Nice wachaing from Pakistan 🇵🇰 💚 🙏 😘 lots of respect you
Why didn't you lock the diffs? The toyota at least would climb all the way no prob
its easy to find the maximum suspension flex point without lockers. That way, he knows when the wheels are lifting. If you are trying to get over something, then you just want to keep moving even if the wheels go up. But in this case it was not about climbing the ramp but finding the max flex before wheel lift.
The point isn’t to just climb the highest on the ramp. You have to climb until the left rear tire is just barely touching the ground
Great video 👍🏼
Looking forward to see Lexus GX 460.
Subscribed! I enjoyed that! Going to look for the Jeeps video(s) now.
At 3:40 , the reason why the Lexus REAR air suspension goes up FIRST before the front is due to the manufacturer design rules.
If it was night with the lights on, with the front going up first the lights would rise up thus being a potential safety hazard. This is why Mercedes, etc etc always do the rear suspension a bit first, then the same amount for the front suspension then the rear again etc until at full height.
I've heard that, but the could do it differently in low range. You wouldn't have oncoming traffic out there.
Very, very nice video👍👍👍. Good job. And good luck🤝.
Very helpful review, thank you sir
Test 4runner trd pro and the trd 2019 or 2020
Toyota is made of toughness
I have the LC200 with AHC. But must say the KDSS version is more off road suited. AHC is for ride comfort, not really for the wilderness.
Remember when i read a journalist article that some convoys of 80 and 100 series land cruiser with heavy modded in amazon journey trip and one of the convoy is lexus 570 non facelift model (j200 based)
Its amazing that the 570 lexus with only raised high blew all heavy modded 80 and 100 cruiser with traction control, KDDS, a trac, crawl control and novince offroad driver.
Sometimes ours cant accept what technology can brings the car further than modded axle diff lock etc, but the amazing is toyota engineers can put what offroader need without become hardcore offroad cars modded
This may be the first use of real-world trigonometry that I've ever seen
