    Wow, incredible! I asked you about your wheelchair and before the day was up you made an incredibly informative video. In a million years I wouldn’t have expected that. I’m super grateful you put this together. Not only did you answer my questions but you answered questions I didn’t even know I had. Thank you so much!! I hope you and Zion have a great rest of your weekend!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! 😊✨

    I love My Quickie Wheelchair. Its not my first one. My first one was hot pink and came with a pin that said, "You'll never forget your first Quickie." That was 20+ years ago.

    There is such a temperature difference between you and I!!! It is -22°F here. 🥶
    Wheelchairs have come such a long way. Happy this can help you keep some spoons.
    Being a content creator myself, those many angles must of taken you a few loads/unloads! Unless you have 2 cameras...
    Pink is definitely a great color for you!
    Great video with great info!

    If, for any reason, my owner's disabilities get to this point, she's definitely going to need to either convert the basement into an 'apartment' for herself. Or move to a one-storey house with no stairs.
    Hopefully, it'll be a long time yet before that.

    • @EricaDiebold
      @EricaDiebold  Před 2 lety +4

      Yeah, it’s crazy how inaccessible a lot of houses are. I used to live on the second story of a town house. You HAD to take the stairs. It might be fun to convert your basement for the fun of it tho!

      @@EricaDiebold I was very grateful that, when I last moved, I told a friend of mine (who has lived in my town her entire life, so she knows just about everyone - I've only been here 10 years) that I was looking for somewhere and to keep her eyes and ears open for anything - I had just found out the day before that I was going to have to move, and even spending a solid 8-10 hours looking online right after I found out, I couldn't find anything that even came remotely close to what I was looking for: all the accessible places were out of my price range, and were either 55+ (I'm not even close to that) or way out on the outskirts of town (I wanted to be in town). Thankfully, she knew someone who was looking to rent out the little house he had built for his elderly parents about 5 years before (his mom had passed and they'd just moved his dad into a nursing home), so it was already about 95% ADA compliant - including a ramp up to the front door - and while I do use a wheelchair, it's only part time, so I can work around the things that aren't (the 42" counters are a little tough, but I can deal). The only reason I hadn't found it in my online search was because the owner (someone I had actually met 2 years prior because he's the plant manager at the school I did my grad school work at, and when I called in a gas leak while I was there, he was one of the people that responded to it; he's really awesome, and definitely the best landlord I've ever had) didn't want to "play landlord" (his brother currently is) so he hadn't listed it anywhere. It met every single one of my hard and fast requirements except for having a tub, and I can get by without that. There are a couple things that have come up since moving in that I need to ask him for permission to change/add that will make the house significantly more accessible for me, but I have no doubt he'll say yes.
      And an extra perk is that all the young men who have lived in the house on the other side of the garage since I moved in (that house and the garage were original, the house I'm in was built later) all work for my alma mater, and several of them are alums from it, so I have plenty of willing help if I need any heavy lifting done (like when I get my truck wheels switched twice a year, which are tire, rim, and filled with air, so they weigh probably close to 85 lbs each - they're stored in the garage, so what used to take me 40+ minutes and would completely wear me out, now takes 5 and I barely have to put in any effort)... or need the front walk shoveled (I can sweep snow off if there's only 1"-1 1/2" and it's very powdery, but I can no longer shovel); they also handle mowing the large lawn, which is something that would always make me very symptomatic in the past.
      I'm definitely fortunate to have found the place where I am - probably would have been stuck on the very outskirts of town, far away from all my friends, if I hadn't.

    Wow. This content really couldn't be any better. To take the time to talk about your wheelchair, assemble and disassemble and then show us doing the very same thing in the video of how to enter and exit your vehicle assembling and disassembling this chair is amazing. I've had my wheelchair for less than a week and learning a lot, like to actually engage my hand brakes when my dog jumps up on me. Anyway, great stuff you've got here and looking forward to watching the rest of your videos. Keep the good stuff coming, you're definitely one of the better channels here in my opiinion.

    I have a ki mobility rogue thats ultra lightweight. Took 2 years to get everything worked out because of the pandemic. Mines metallic orange. Mines extremely similar to yours. I need to add a seat belt because they forgot to order mine. Ive added a scroller organizer that hangs under my seat for a bit of easy storage access. I recommend looking at Lending closests, many custom chairs are used for such a short time period and are gently used. I was not given a loaner during the 2 year wait but i had my old pediatric transfer chair that i could still fit into thankfully.

    How long did it take to get your wheelchair. We are using Action mobility and seating out of little rock. We went for our evaluation the first week of April and we are still waiting on it. Really has been hard because we are using my boyfriend grandma wheelchair it is a ultra light but we cant load it. It is harder for my service dog to help with forward mobility. We are getting a ultra rigid light wheelchair. Just found your video and they have helped us greatly with wheelchair and mobility. We have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis arthritis we had 18 orthopedic surgies at Shriners in Shreveport.
