- Now that we know the basics regarding normal cardiac function, let's look at some things that can go wrong, and relevant pharmacological solutions. Arrhythmias refer to a deviation from normal heart rhythm. This includes atrial fibrillation, and many other phenomena. There are four classes of drugs that deal with such issues according to the Vaughan-Williams classification, let's learn about them now!

Thanks for doing this. I was just diagnosed with Atrial Flutter and subsequent Congestive Heart Failure. I'm taking a number of medicines that slow the heart rate, decrease blood pressure, and thin the blood. Plus an Ace II inhibitor. In two weeks I get cardioverted to hopefully eliminate the atrial flutter. Then its on to figure out what damage has been done to my heart. Just for reference, early onset of Congestive Heart Failure has the following symptoms. 1.) Difficulty breathing when you are horizontal. 2.) Significant water retention. I've lost 32 pounds (about 15%) since visiting the hospital.(2 weeks ago). mostly in the form of diuretic induced peeing. 3.) coughing up bubble infused mucous periodically. (thankfully a whitish color) A week after first going to the hospital my blood pressure and heart rate have been lowered to more normal values, and my weight remains stable. Thank you for this explanation. The docs tend to give a pretty basic explanation. And I thought I had some allergy, or RSV. I'm done with self-diagnosis.
Just finished my cardiology block in med school. Great presentation!
How can you know all of these things. Both your breath and depth of knowledge astounds me! Thank you for this learning.
I am an ER doctor and I an amazed every week a new, unrelated topic. last week Greek Philosophers, next week plate tectonics
Professor Dave i thank you for opening this 15 year old's brain by your Amazing mathematics, physics and chemistry tutorials!
Plus I know this is biology I'm commenting on wrong video :)
Hey Dave, thanks for making these videos.
It's great learning more about science everyday, and these are great study guides.
Kudos to these script writers ,and Dave a big thank you for a voice that helps my brain understand (and whoever does the visuals)
Keep it always! You work so hard that you still making videos, just amazing ❤❤❤
Thanks, this is fantastic!
Perfect, exactly what i needed for my background phd reading
I know it's way off topic!!
But I am dying for that Neurobiology course.
I did that! But I called it biopsychology.
@@ProfessorDaveExplains oh, I just saw that!
Thanks a lot, now I am gonna occupy myself for the next 3 months!
Can you do statins next?
Thanks
My father has Conns syndrome or primary aldostronism
Hi dave please can you do a video on chemtrails :) thanks
Another solid video.
Thanks
