      @yekutielbenheshel354 Před rokem

      It's a matter of definitions. In vernacular American "baskeball-eze", the concept of talent does not include the ability to stay healthy. However, it is possible to change the definition so that when someone says, "He's a talented basketball player" the speaker is factoring in a player's ability to stay healthy. Personally, I think it's better to separate the concept of talent from the concept of being more or less prone to injuries. Former professional basketball player. A.C. Green wasn't very talented at all, but he was one of the least injury-prone NBA basketball players ever (amongst those players who had NBA careers longer than 10 years and played a significant number of minutes).

    • @yekutielbenheshel354
      @yekutielbenheshel354 Před rokem

      @@dallasrutherford Just like D Rose, PG significantly contributed to one of his most serious injuries by being reckless. See, "Paul George Gruesome Leg Injury in Team USA Basketball Showcase (HD)" czcams.com/video/qYTA1dRVjnE/video.html. It seems to me that PG's most recent injury will force him to either be a bench player or retire. That's not surprising. After all, he's 33 years old.
      Like many others, I predict Ja Morant is on his way to being a mediocre bench player within the next couple/few years due to his reckless style of play. Look at guys who had long and fruitful NBA careers such as Stockton, Malone, Gary Payton Sr, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, and Andre Igudola. They all tended to play carefully.

      Intangibles? Generally, no. It's mostly obvious. Lonzo is much better than LaMelo. Lonzo is a better shooter, has a higher IQ, is a better rebounder, and much, much better defender. The fact that Lonzo is a quiet leader who is easy to play with... yeah, that's an intagible. LaMelo doesn't really have the prospect of being anything more than a below average starting point guard due primarily to to his bad defense. The only thing Lonzo was missing was confidence. He needed to be more aggressive offensively so that he could score more and get more assists. He was too passive. But his defense. Yeah. Ummm, that was really, really good. And he was a very good rebounder too.
      Sadly, from what I read, it seems that he might need to miss the entire next season due to his right knee injury. From what I've read, his right knee injury is very serious. Fortunately, modern surgical and rehab techniques are remarkable. Therefore, if he's patient and rehabs properly, I think he could have a very good 2024-2025 season. 25 years ago, a guy with his knee injury might have been forced to retire.

      To be a complete package he’d have to be a player who is good at everything, he is nowhere close to that. One of the worst PGs when it comes to putting pressure on the rim. That’s why he’s essentially a SG in half court sets. He is one of the worst PGs in the league being the primary ball handler in half court. He’s a SG. Excellent shooter, one of the best team defenders in the league, great in transition as a playmaker and is intelligent. But clear weaknesses to his game that limit him.

    • @yekutielbenheshel354
      @yekutielbenheshel354 Před rokem +1

      Watching Lavine and Derozan play hero ball as well as the Bull's general lack of teamwork, makes me think that the Bulls need a new head coach. Put simply, the Bulls have sufficient talent to make it past the first round of the playoffs, but they generally don't play proper team basketball.
      It took the great Michael Jordan about 7 years to realize he needed to stop playing hero ball and instead "play the right way" to increase his chances of winning a championship. It's often very difficult to persuade excellent isolation scorers to pass the ball. It's no secret that ball movement is crucial to winning championships.
      It's not just that guys need their touches to get motivated to play hard, but ball movement also tends to wear down the opposition. As the adage goes, "The best defense is a good offense." Grinding down your opposition by consistently making the extra pass to the open man, makes it tough for them to play hard on their offensive end of the court.
      Perhaps a new head coach could get that message across to Zach and Deebo. The Bulls had to fire Doug Collins (who regularly encouraged MJ to play hero ball). Collins was recorded saying something like "Give the ball to Michael, and everyone else get out of the way," The Bulls brought in Phil Jackson. Eventually Phil Jackson persuaded MJ to "play the right way."

      PG is essentially suited to be a color commentary announcer; he needs to find at least one play-by-play announcer as a co-host. Generally, that's how it has worked in the business of radio and television sports broadcasting for over half a century. The ex-jocks (retired athletes) have provided the color commentary; whereas, a "professional" announcer has provided the play-by-play (think Howard Cosell, Vin Scully, or Bob Costas).
      Guys like Charles Barkley (an intelligent retired athlete who can do hard core analysis) are rare. Usually you end up with a guy like Shaq or Kenny paired with a guy like Ernie. The retired athletes make things fun and "keep it real"; the boring "suit" (Ernie) keeps order and discipline (to prevent the show from "going off the rails" into utter nonsense).
