Wow this book was epic! Can't believe it's the author's debut novel... Amazing job.
So many twists and turns along the way. I read it in hours (started this morning Saturday May 1st after watching Amerie's review yesterday!). I was that engrossed in this story and characters.
I honestly empathized with Florence and her life. She had a pretty depressing upbringing but felt if she only appreciated her life it wouldn't have been as dismal, instead she was envious and jealous of everyone one else's life. I didn't particularly like her sense of entitlement and lack of morals and compassion, but saw where her upbringing lead to it.
Also related to her relationship with her mother, passive-aggressive encouragement and criticism all with love etc. Seen it many times.
Helen was a crackpot! Lmao from inception she seemed different and interesting to me honestly. I loved her views on certain topics and as expected Florence slowly morphed into her which again spoke of her lack of identity and insecurities.
The book spoke alot about important topics such as power, influence, classism, privilege and identity etc.
There were so many key lessons in this book the main one I got is to create the life that's best for YOU and don't be envious of others.
I normally don't read books based on hype and popularity but it was worth it. Highly recommend this book.

I’m just done with chapter 5. I bought it to read bc of the “Talented Mr. Ripley vibe.” It was a bit difficult for me to catch at times but it’s starting to flow, Vera is a character and Florence should have me too’d Simon: he is textbook me too because he’s famous! You don’t me too a not-famous person...it’s rule #1.
