    It's pretty much along the lines of the old Marble's Expert, with modern tool steel. Beautiful knife.

    The most "full tang knives" are actually not full tang, but skeletonized, which makes a huge difference. The toughest/strongest tang, is either a true full tang, or a properly made stick tang (Gerber Strongarm, Terava Jaakari Pukko style). That being said, Knife batoning does NOT damage the edge of a blade neither the handle part. It's the thin part, right above the edge bevel, which is usually prone to damage (break) and that only happens. if you try to baton in an angle and not 90 degrees vertical. The most vulnerable knives, that may break on the guard or near that part, is if an amature tries to baton with the handle touching the wood or something similar. There is always the heat treatment and hardness/steel factor too.

      You are correct I think it will be amazing. how was cutting some green soft with the other day small limbs about the size your finger. Hit went right through it with one push I tested several other knives they could not do it.

      @@shane4176 Got mine in today and got to thoroughly test it and I can say that I 110% agree you about how slicey this thing is.... I compared it to a Lion steel M4 in M390 steel an this thing blew it away when it came to cutting performance. After using it for a while in feather sticking, push cutting through some pretty big sticks, and just carving on some seasoned oak , I had no issues with edge rolling and while it was not razor sharp anymore.... it was damn close as it could still cut receipt paper with ease. This is going to be an amazing skinner/hiking knife; so far this has been worth every penny.
      EDIT: Also to add, it only took a couple of light passes with a 2000 grit stone followed by a leather strop to get it back to a screaming edge; so far it seems to sharpen/hone easier than M390 Bohler.

      @@thermaltoyzngear3310 that is awesome John I'm glad you got yours in like it! I have not had to sharpen mind yet but I have heard it sharpens pretty easily. I have a custom sheath coming for mine. Not that anything is wrong with the sheath that came with it but I just wanted something different.

    Hi, what's the better knife your new Manitou or the nl5 from Fällkniven. What is your opinion? Thank you! Greetings Dirk

    • @shane4176
      @shane4176  Před 5 lety +1

      Hmm I suppose it's somewhat depends on what you were doing with the knife.The nl5 is thicker and possibly a little bit more robust. But I do like the handle on the Manitou much much better. It is longer and wider so if you're using it for aggressive cuts it doesn't hurt your hand near as much as the narrow handle on the NL 5. The Manitou is also a better slicer and it is also considerably cheaper.

      You can drive to point A and point B the same in a Lamborghini as you would in a Dodge Neon... however, one is objectively nicer. I can replicate these test with a $5 kitchen knife. However, the ease of how the Manitou can complete these tasks, with much better steel/construction, is where the difference lies. You obviously don't know the true and appropriate usage of a knife like this. This is not a "beat the shit out of it" hard use knife. It's a more delicate utilitarian/game processing/kitchen prep knife... and it does fantastically at those tasks (I own one).
      Would you use an felling axe to skin game? Would you use a saw to clean a fish? No (unless you're not the brightest individual)
