  • We’ve had previous discussions covering topics like speakers and RCA vs. XLR cables, but for today's video and in honor of reaching 52 years in business this past week, we’re looking backward to talk about one of the original pieces of audio equipment electronics that made all these things possible and how after 100 years Vacuum Tubes are still being used in today’s audio equipment.
Ron & DJ sit down to discuss some frequently asked questions about vacuum tubes including, care, maintenance, biasing, and more!

Informative, gentle approach to understanding more about tubes. I've been playing with them for 40 years!

Wonderful video, guys. As a musician and guitar player, I’ve always used tube amps. As an audiophile, I enjoy tubes in the preamp section / line stage, but don’t mind SS amps as the power. Both applications have their pluses and minuses, but It’s certainly interesting how a technology approximately a century old is still being used. Even my profession a guitar luthier and tube amp repairman is interesting to me, in that the use of tubes still make me able to earn a living.
Thanks again for the great video.

No matter what changes in the audiophile world it seems there will always be a place for tubes! Thanks for the comment!

The only good thing about tube amps is the speaker transformer.......Transister amp with speaker transformer = a reliable better sounding amp than any tube amp could ever be

Tube amps are definitely a preference for some, but I do think it's pretty amazing that the original technology is still being used and has value in today's electronics so long after their inception! Thanks for the comment @marxman00

the transistor inventor got a noble prize in 1948. he single handedly ruined the world's sound. but audiophiles and guitar players stood against it and the world was saved. transistors are awful they have to operate at 10% volume to sound their best because they sound so bad near clipping. look at the high end market 1600 watts class a/b transistors for home use it's a joke.
