As a Verdun player since 2013 when it was in open Alpha and you could play it in browser, I've played an unhealthy amount since release. Isonzo is everything I hoped it would be, what a fantastic evolution. Very immersive and great game.

I played Verdun years ago, appreciated it, but could never get into it. There just weren't that many people playing. I got Isonzo on day 1 and it has been fantastic. Probably the most well rounded WW1 game so far. I really appreciate most of the fighting being based around bolt actions, pistols and melee and not throwing in a bunch of smg's pretending to be WW2.
In EU you can always get several full servers in the evenings for Verdun, playercount was low but it wasn't that big of an issue. Could be more of a problem for other regions though. Glad to hear you're enjoying Isonzo though, WWI Series and especially Isonzo deserves so much more attention and recognition!
I liked Verdun as well, but not something I'd go back to and play, player count being the reason
@@Dexusaz Luckily even the very lowest player count, Tannenberg, has full servers at some point of the evening and night. Although Verdun has it way more consistently.
They also just released a roadmap and it looks amazing! They will add new factions, many new maps, and a new game mode.
damn, I gotta check out that roadmap, the game can get even better than what it currently is

EDIT: And there’s a high chance we’ll get the Czech Legion volunteers for the Entente, seeing as the WWI series likes to include more factions than the big ones
First time to this series and I have to say WOW! Bought this last Friday and I can’t stop playing it! Officer class definitely brings in my HLL command instinct, even though mic use is non existent you can definitely get good team play at times!
glad you're having fun with it, it's a game I definitely will continue to play, I feel like the game is a little too fast for people to communicate effectively, but it can still be done at times.
I played a lot of verdun back on its release if this game gets a horrors of war expansion like verdun did I’d get it. Verdun was so brutal seeing a sniper shooting at people only to run past him a minute later and see him holding his throat and choking on blood like nothing beats it
Isonzo is so good, also very realistic, and i can relate to the battle in real life, my Great great grandfather fought for the Austrian Hungarian Empire as part of the 3rd Bosnian Herzegovinan Infantry division the Feared Bosniaks that is in the Game Isonzo as part of the Elite Unit Pack i love it too good especially the Steyr Mannlicher M95 rifle (Austria Hungarian main rifle) its so good better that the carcano for me
As an Austrian I love the setting of the game and it's history. Also I'm very interested in the history of the Bosniak troops, very nice to see them implemented amongst the elites of the game.
PS: I could have bought a M95 for 150€ couple of months ago, but I dislike the action. It's very hard to rock back at times, but a very nice rifle indeed.

I definitely share the sentiment as an Italian, plus seeing the maniacal attention that went into recreating the locations of our front is downright stunning, especially as someone who lived close by.

Had this moment last night on this game where my squad just survived a bombing run and we all came out to full heal each other and just as we finished healing we got hit with an arty shell. Our bodies turned into paste and we had a good laugh at how perfect the timing was. 10/10 would die miserably in a trench again.
The whole Optus rant at end is something that just felt right ( I’m also Australian and yeah lotus kinda sucks)

Hah, I also mainly play mountaineer just because it's a diverse class. I tend to have more success with their cavalry weapons than I do with the normal rifles, and I also like the boost to movement speed as the base perk. It's one of those classes where you can really choose your play style of whether or not you should rush in with your quick chambering rifle and quick movement or stay back near an ammo crate popping flairs or spotting with binoculars/periscope.

It has been a journey since verdun and yeah it's pretty cool to see you cover a new released game. Anyway I just saw some similarities with BF1 only this game focus on reality of WW1 and Isonzo front. Perhaps in the future the dev could add the Beretta m18 and more map

Almost everything from the last few games has improved but the fact you have to rank up in each class AND do challenges in a hardcore shooter to unlock weapons makes things a little grindy. Loading times and startup can be rough as well, at least for me with a 1080ti and 16gb RAM. That being said, I have 40 hours and really enjoy it.
Really hope the success of this game leads to more voice actors lol
It takes so lomg to rank up classes aswell, at-least for me. Its the only change im not a fan of, i think the unlock tokens from the other games were better and meant it wasnt long before you had some of the more interesting guns unlocked
@@zXPeterz14 Totally agreed, the unlock system was fine before. They made an unnecessary change by copying BF's unlock system that discourages teamplay in a hardcore teamplay-oriented Shooter. It's way too grindy and some challenges are absurd. That wasn't the smartest decision.
Agreed with all of what you said but load times are totally fine for me with a 1080TI and 16 GB RAM as well. It starts up super quickly and I can be in a match in a minute or two from starting up the game.

Isonzo is great!!! I was skeptical to try it because I thought it might be another half baked cheap war game but it’s quite the opposite!
Also I’m not a fan of ww1 but I’m enthralled in the ww2 era. After playing it I can look past it being in a different era for me because the gameplay and pace and scenery do wonders!
I love how you feel when you protect or attack objectives, each kill feels like you have accomplished something and is just so rewarding.
Each kill makes a huge impact on the gameplay.
If your to loose and care free, that lack of effort you didn’t put in protecting your self, team mates and objectives is enough to let the enemy make a dent in your attack / defence which could be a huge determining factor on who’s team wins.
Unlike battlefield, you actually feel like your working for something greater with every on your team, rather than just running rampant on a shooting spree trying to unlock gadgets.
There is a goal in this game and it requires you to be wise and plan ahead. There’s tons of strategy to this game and I just love it. I haven’t quite played anything like this in a while. I’m at work still just thinking about going home playing isonzo!

I love Isonzo, I wish the sound design (the sounds of the guns in particular) was better, If it had the Sound Track of battlefield 1 it would be perfect.
Sound design is definitely a huge improvement from previous games, particularly the explosions are impressive now compared to those before. Agreed that there is room for improvement but they unfortunately don't have that high of a budget. Hopefully, Isonzo was succesful enough for them to implement further improvements in Isonzo or another sucessor game.

yeah that's one thing I didn't mention, when I went to fire I was expecting something louder and more violent and was kinda disappointed, still an improvement over the last games though

I would love to see these devs make a shooter taken place in Vietnam, Soviet invasion of Afghanistan or one of the lesser known battles of the Cold War. These devs did a great job on Verdun and Tannenburg

4:45 People in real life had seen way worse than any game can convey. I'd say it's historically inaccurate for this fact alone. They had this thing called ''Drumfire'' back then and I shit you not, in the initial days of the Battle of the Somme, about 1500 allied cannons fired 1.5 to 2 million shells in just 7 days. It didn't even succeed, because the push after resulted in 50000 British casualties of which about 20000 soldiers died on a SINGLE day... The French respectively lost aproximately 1600 and the Germans lost about 10000 men that very same day! It was absolute madness!!!

If you get a chance to talk to the devs again ask them about combine all games into one package, add some of the updates and mechanics to the older games. Aswell as full crossplay console and pc. Easily make this game last forever no 🤷♂️.

@@Tantwo yeah there was massive significant in the 12 battle of Isonzo river as at caporeto the Austrians were on the back foot of the fighting and ask for Germany to send troops toward the Italian front so they sent some soldiers down from the Eastern front to help this is where the largest Italian military defeat which could of resulted in Italy’s surrender. The effective use on the Germans using new chemical weapons that the Italians have never seen and the effectiveness of German stromtroopers

If you are ok with everyone having bolt action rifles and the one who taps center mass first wins situations than sure game is really good.
It’s very similar to rs2. A touch less crazy and a slightly different pace of shoot out.
It’s a bit like a mini rs2 campaign mode. And I am playing because I can’t always get decent server for rs2. :)
Definitely, if you like the historical setting and are fine with mainly Bolt-Action rifles and Pistols. Also, prepare to die. A lot. Grenade spam is also an issue. The game's quite similar to RS2, it's hardcore while still being arcadey and fast-paced. Overall, it's a great game and I don't think you can go wrong for the price it costs. You'll have two hours to try it as well and you can refund it if you change your mind. Though, I would say two hours aren't enough if you're new to the WWI Series. To summarize: I can definitely recommend it.
as people here have said, if you like historical authenticity, as well as a fastish gameplay (tactical shooter fast) then I'm sure you'll enjoy it, you can join the game whenever you like and it doesn't feel as much as a commitment as other games like Squad and HLL, if you do get the game, you can always refund before 2 hours.
Game is hard as shit at first, but I found i got much better as I learned the maps a bit.

Very nice game indeed! Though, pray to god that you don't find yourself in a match with Zab. I don't hate the guy or anything don't get me wrong, but he _does_ either make your game a piss-easy cakewalk that removes any self-satisfaction when he's on your team, or gets you absolutely steamrolled with little ability to fight back if he's on the enemy's. He's *really* good and *very* skilled, but I don't generally enjoy matches with him.
I'll keep an eye out for him, what servers does he usually play? truth be told I'm pretty crap at the game hence why I prefer more supportive roles lmfao
@@Tantwo Generally, you'll bump into him every once in a while playing in US servers. So you'll probably be fine so long as it's not a slow day and servers are sparsely populated.
Zab is a beast, he is always slaying in Verdun games.

isonzo is good but awesome is maybe a bit too much.
Amazing game, but it's already bleeding players like crazy. It's lost over half of its playerbase inside of a week and last night NA already lacked a server fully populated with humans.
Game is great, albeit in need of a lot of polish and QoL still, but it's gonna be no different than the last two in a month.. servers where a handful of human players fight mindless bots with laserbeam snap aim.
The bots aren’t though
They are, they have wallhack. They turn around corners and immediately shoot you without leaving you time to react.
@@Dexusaz exactly. They aren’t awesome. Whoever programmed them should be fired because there’s no effort put in them whatsoever.. spent almost $60 and it just feels so unfinished. I’ve never played a more atrocious match of any other bots on any other game. So non immersive as well. They also don’t have full 40v40 bot matches, they don’t play tactically, just aim bot and walk around all casually without aiming and killing everything. Very disappointing but no one talks about it or how grindy the game is

They don’t level up with you.. it’s just bad and they don’t melee or pull out shovels or trench weapons in close quarters.. not even when they crawl to a trench. This games bots could be so much more but I guess not

Isonzo already has dismemberment, the only thing it's missing are some of the animations. I'd definitely still recommend getting it.
