Ewan and Hayden Comment on Prequel Hate Finally - Kenobi

  • I think this video is more important than some of my others. I believe it's important to always be respectful to fellow Star Wars fans regardless of your opinion. I've been a fan for almost my whole life, and I have seen all types of infighting in this emotional fandom. Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor open up about the backlash that Star Wars got during the prequel era. I believe this played into some reasons for George Lucas selling Lucasfilm to Disney.

@@ross-carlson There is a difference between bad character and bad acting. He acted out Anakin in AoTC perfectly, you just didn't like the character itself. Take the scene where he says he killed all the Tuskens. That's by no means bad acting, but some people are doomed to dislike the character.

@@timothywilliams8367 Exactly Ewan and Hayden should speak out on it they helped make the movies. The Prequel Trilogy wasn't terrible it had great storytelling especially Revenge of The Sith something that Sequel Trilogy lacked but even The Sequel Trilogy wasn't completely terrible it had great visual effects, John Williams music, great performances from The Original Trilogy cast of our beloved characters from Carrie, Ford to Mark and the newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam designated DRIVER and Oscar Isaac. It's just that the action choreography and story wasn't good all of the time but the fight with Snoke's Red guards in the Throne room was awesome 😎👊. I'm excited to see Hayden Christensen back but Vader would be in his early years so I hope they show some scenes of him getting in and out of the suit. The Grand Inquisitor looks off but still cool 💯. I really hope James Earl Jones, Hayden Christensen and Ian Mcdirmid come back as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Sidious because they're awesome and massively underrated and underappreciated by Star Wars Fans because NOBODY HATES STAR WARS LIKE STAR WARS FANS 🤣. I hope people don't complain about Obi Wan not using his lightsaber much because of course he wouldn't he was in hiding after Order 66. I hope the Obi Wan series shows how Obi Wan aged so fast because of Tattooine's double red suns, desert climate and constant fighting, hiding and stress from avoiding The Empire while dealing with Jabba The Hutt's mercenaries, Tusken Raiders, bounty hunters, Stormtroopers and watching over young Luke Skywalker, Owen and Beru . THIS IS WHERE THE FUN BEGINS. In the new Obi Wan series I want to see Obi Wan communicating with Qui Gon Jinn about that Force Ghost training and his run ins with the Sand People, young Luke Skywalker, Owen and Beru and even The Empire at times plus other Jedi, Sith, Force users and bounty hunters if possible. I always thought it was strange how Darth Maul could come back but not Mace Windu when Maul survived something extremely fatal while Windu definitely could've survived falling out a window after getting his hand cut off and blasted by Palpatine's Force lightning. I'm still catching up as I haven't watched all of The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian or any of Disney Star Wars things since Rise of Skywalker but I'll check it out soon. I'm conflicted about the shows in light of Star Wars Lore. Seeing Luke Skywalker and Ashoka training Grogu and the next generation of Jedi is a dream come true of what I wanted The Disney Sequel Trilogy to be about now we'll never get that with The Original Trilogy cast. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Episode 2 was dope since we got Coruscant and so many iconic locations and three was just the climax. It’s absolutely insane that George Lucas was bullied into selling the franchise. It’s totally different to dog on some director that was hired compared to “the guy” who made the thing.

Anakin has had the best character development out of anyone in the skywalker saga. And Hayden Christensen played the role in a way that showed just how much Anakin's mindset developed throughout the movies. You can see his reaction to everything that's happening, and then his response to what's happening also changes.

I agree about Jar-Jar and I always felt that way: that he was the comedic relief and that he was something the film needed. With so many straight-laced characters and no one to translate and bicker with R2, I think Jar-Jar fit into his role just fine. It's unreal to imagine that Ewan and Hayden are coming back and it's just so cool. I was young when the prequels came out too and I remember how new and fresh and exciting they were. I can tell that George really did like to make something new and different with every film that he makes. I wish he was still making them.

They weren’t perfect movies for everyone, but they were a lot better written and entertaining than the sequels for most people. I’m not trying to hate on the sequels, but it’s just my opinion. Today, I appreciate Episode I to VI a lot more. Even Episode II, which is a slower episode, is a lot more entertaining. Being older made me realize that it’s quite a good political thriller. I watched Clone Wars and Rebels back when I started College and it enhanced my love for the Prequels and the Originals. After my dissatisfaction from the Sequel trilogy, I rediscovered my love for Star Wars by watching those series.
Also we can’t forget how quotable those movies are either compared to the Sequels. I think most of my friends, who aren’t huge Star Wars fans like me, can quote the entire interaction between Anakin and Obi-Wan before they clash on Mustafar. Also, who can forget Obi-Wan saying, “Seismic charges! Standby!” Like them or not, they definitely left a great impression on the younger generation at the time.

It has truly brought me out of some of the darkest times I have faced. I loved the prequels when they came out, wasn't old enough to really nitpick them. Now days I find it fun to nitpick at them, but not in a serious or very negative way, because every movie has its own flaws that make it what it is, and for me, all of Star Wars as a whole is a grand experience I will never hate. If I could say anything to convince even one person who hates the originals/prequels/sequels, and change their mind, it would be this. It is not perfect, and it does not need to be. it simple needs....to be. And you only need to dive deeper to find the things you truly love about Star Wars. You are not required to love or hate a particular character, or episode. Just enjoy what you like about it, and allow the rest to fall into its place in the galaxy. Whether you are a Jedi or Sith, Rebel or Imperial, Hutt or Hunter, you are a fan, like the rest of us, and something about Star Wars makes you feel good, enriched, and that is the point. Not to be shit upon for its writing or acting or visuals. But to simply be....enjoyed. I for one, am extremely happy to have lived through, and still be living through, this amazing adventure through this massive galaxy.

It's obviously not ideal, because the general public doesn't want to think when watching a movie (the whole politics bad thing), but every line and every delivery makes sense when you look at the films as a whole. Anakin was a happy normal kid, later he becomes an awkward teenage monk who is struggling with his emotions and repressing them, he ends being in more control but the pain of losing his mother still haunts him. We see him mature in a logical way, and when looking at how each stage is portrayed and what each stage says it works together beautifully. I remember when Darth Vader’s “Noooooooo” at the end of Ep 3 was mainly mocked for its silliness but if you check out the comment section of those clips now you’ll see people talking about the tragedy of Anakin. It helps that the prequels like the OT was mainly Lucas’ vision, the biggest problem the sequels had was too many chefs and no clear goal for the films.

Thank you so much for making this video! This is so true, I hate seeing so many people shit on star wars prequels, and then not back it up with any legit critiques. Just "it's bad" I love them, they were my star wars movies growing up, I had so much fun with them I love the originals too. I personally don't like the sequels for my own reason, but that doesn't mean I hate anyone who likes them, I don't hate the actors, and I understand why some people like them and that's totally fine.

    I’m just now finding out that people hated on the prequels… yes, like many others I was born during 1999 and grew up with these movies, but after rewatching them as I grow up;
watching Anakin’s story brings tears into my eyes. i’m watching a young man who I can relate with… the young Skywalker isn’t perfect, nothing he ever does will feel like it’s good enough… Anakin walked in some shoes that no man ever wanted to fill, and this tragic story might not be appealing to everyone, but this is the worst case scenario when a great man falls down the wrong path. I’m proud of Hayden Christensen, he’s a man I look up to with respect.

Nothing can compare to when the door opened and I saw Darth maul while duel of the fates played. now 9 years later, I'm 17 and I still enjoy the prequels probably more than the originals and sequels combined. I've probably seen revenge of the sith around 18 times give or take and it never gets old.

I've watched the original trilogy at least a b'zilion times when I was a kid. I was learning English at the time and I remember watching it over and over again until I could get every nuance of every line. This was around '92. Few years later when the prequel trilogy came out I went and saw The Phantom Menace as an 19-year old. I felt like a child. It was magic. Granted I didn't (immediately) go and try to move everything in my room with the Force, but still the sense of wonder, the joy ... it made me happy. I remember having been so curious as to who they would find to be a young Alec Guinness, and thinking "Of course! Who else?!". I've waited for every single "Star Wars" ever since. Of course some were better than others, some story ideas were less stellar than others, but they've always succeeded at making me happy. The same way that any well formed universe does: Tolkien, Roddenberry, Rowling, Martin. It's the story. It's always gonna be the story. The rest of it is trying to immerse us in that Universe. I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy, because I think it tries to do too much and it feels rushed and choppy - I'm getting old, I know - but it still made me happy. Thank you for saying it out loud: "Critique - the story, the direction, the production, the acting - but always with a reason". I'm paraphrasing here, but I think that was the gist of your message. It's a bit disappointing that it has to be explicitly stated. Thank you so much for doing what you do. Always a fan.

I am a die hard OT Star Wars fan and can remember seeing A New Hope in Theaters when I was just a kid and it was called just Star Wars. I loved all the novels and comic books in the 90’s. I had such high expectations for the prequel trilogy and felt they did not meet those expectations at that time. I took away the parts I enjoyed about each movie. I do admit that I used to criticize the PT as a whole. In recent years I have been able to see what the PT has meant to the kids who watched it at the time they came out. And they are just like I was when I saw the OT. How can I criticize them for loving Star Wars? The best thing is those kids are making the best Star Wars videos on CZcams (like yourself). I look forward to watching more of your videos and seeing more Star Wars content come out on Disney + bridging the time gap between the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy.

I didn't grow up loving star wars films I remember sometimes watching episodes 4,5,&6 because my dad was there when they came out and he loved them. It wasn't until my teenage / young adult years that I really fell in love with Star Wars and for me it was both the prequels and the originals. They are very important to me because of the characters and the stories they go through. I think that it has helped me when I went through rough times. Especially how Obi-Wan lived through so much trauma and yet he never turned to the dark and evil methods. I don't think that it is a religion. But my love for star wars helps to also connect to other people. I love the prequels and the originals. I don't like the sequels but that is because of the poor writing, directing, and overall poor character development. That doesn't mean that I am hating on the actors of the sequels or even the directors. I think that they didn't do a good job because they don't know what star wars is really about and they didn't know how to portray that. I don't like Rey's character (not the actor) because there is no character development in the sequels for her that is realistic. Whenever she had an obstacle she immediately overcame it which is not real life. Her character never struggled, never failed, she always triumphed despite absolutely no training which is not realistic of people at all. This makes her character an unrelatable one because she doesn't struggle with anything. She doesn't even struggle with fear of her newfound powers!

I grew up with the original trilogy, but when the prequel came out I was 19 years old and I went to see it at the cinema, and the emotion that I felt to finally see a Star Wars movie on the big screen was one of the best experiences of my life. . I loved everything in The Phantom Menace, I laughed with Jar Jar, I got emotional when Shmi says goodbye to her only son, I almost fell out of my seat when the music from Duel of the Fates starts playing and the battle begins .
And to this day I watch the movie and I see it with the eyes of a little girl, no one can ever take that feeling from my heart. I never thought that Jar Jar was a hindrance , that Jake Lloyd acted "badly" and etc, etc... For me this trilogy opened a special feeling for the OT, because it made me love it even more. Star Wars for me is not just movies, it is my childhood and youth, that I enjoy 100% with my family. Now the sequel is something else, I kinda liked episode 7, episode 8 was passable, but 9 was insuffarable, It didn't feel like I was watching something from Star Wars, but rather a battle between the director and the previous one, (what balls are bigger than the other one).
The characters became worse versions than in the previous episodes and Rey became the only character that all children can admire. I think that with Galaxy Edge and now the StarCruiser the message is very clear. You would ask yourself ¿Where is Finn and Poe, right? Anyway.. The Disney content is half of the coin for me because I still enjoy Rogue One, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba (it had a few good moments) and like many of you I can't wait to see The series of Kenobi, Andor and Ahsoka. And at the end, I love The Prequels with the Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
