Riccardo suffered with poor strategy. It seems asinine that they would pit him twice before Tsunoda once. Hardly fitting strategy for the higher qualifier
RB pitted Riccardo to cover the undercut based on the fastest lap Hulk did on the hards shortly after his stop. A bunch of cars came in for that early stop then got caught behind K-Mag. Overall it was a poor strategy call. Good strategy call on Tsunoda they used their track position well while most of the cars RB where racing were caught up in that early pitstop
David Coulthard on the channel 4 commentary was getting uncomfortable with the McClaren radio drama, said it opened old wounds from his own experience with Hakkinen. He was very candid and honest about his feelings, it was a very interesting listen

Thank you for addressing the Crofty, he stayed up too late and BECAUSE of that, he was irritated and acting out. I agree that modern science has come a LONG way in highlighting the benefits of sleep, nutrition, hydration, etc. So could late-night sim racing have a small, almost imperceptible, impact on his reaction times or racecraft, sure. But to blame his attitude on it while having NO IDEA how or what other drivers were spending their evenings is insulting. And to bring it up multiple times without losing conviction was astonishing to me
I also think about the norris piastri stituation that I wouldn’t want Piastri to risk a lot to catch up with Lando.. when he is promised he gets the place back, so I would also wait it out if I was him and not try to over drive
McLaren and Norris sullied Piastri's first win unfortunately. McLaren should have pitted the race leader Piastri first instead of trying to hobble him as they have done all year. Piastri would have beaten Norris whichever way you look at it. Norris was just dirty Piastri drove better than him for 80% of the race. What McLaren should do is have a rule that's set in stone. Whichever car is in front gets pitted first or if they need to double stack (due to weather) as was the case at silverstone you double stack. Ends all trouble and undercutting a race leader. Stop manipulating race results mclaren, let them race. I'm pretty sure oscar will come out on top over the long run.
Agreed. Just pit Piastri first instead of trying to be big brained, then pit Norris and then have a 1 2 without team orders or this silly situation where no matter who wins it's awkward. Might be the worst 1 2 finish since Barrichello I think slowed down from the lead of the race to let Shumi by from many seconds behind.
I agree in this case piastri shoukd have been brought in first, and that's the correct strategy most times. But I don't think a rule set in stone is a good idea. If someone behind was an overtaking threat, then pitting the second car might have been smart
The Divers championship is more or less over, Max has won it end of story. However the constructors championship is far from over, so if I was Zak Brown I would swap Lando with Pato O'Ward and let Lando built some more character in IndyCar. Lando made to many silly mistakes and decision already and is becoming way too toxic for the team, while Pato is certified race winner and deserves a seat on f1.
@@DonPablo111 On the long run it does make sense. I think Lando can win Indy championship next year and come back to f1 in 2026 with championship winning attitude and dominate in f1 like Max. It's obvious things are not working for him right now and he needs a change of environment.
Drivers championship might not be as over as you think if Max keeps racing like that. He was lucky not to get a DNF this time, next time might not be so lucky

Come on now lads, getting a decent setup of microphones working is not that difficult. Specially not when using discord as your primary means of communication. The F1 Word is generally a great show but audio issues has made the past couple of episodes unbarable to listen to.
It's incredibly hard to do when live as I'm sure you can appreciate. It's also only the second time we've had any issues like this in the last year. Sure, they've come in quick succession so I understand the frustration, but I think we can be cut some slack on this one. Especially, as you say, since "The F1 Word is generally a great show." Now, if it happens every week, we'll have this conversation again and you can let rip at me then lol :) Edit: As feedback - would you prefer me to just do them solo if we have any issues in the future? This is the first time Max has gone 3 races in a row without a win since the end of 2021
