Thanks Clay! The advice for getting a mission is something i needed to hear years ago. Since i started to try to do my own DYI repairs with early help from your videos, i can say having a mission does help provide meaning in one's life. You are a very wise person in automotive repair and have many insights of life. Thanks again for sharing it with us
Great Job! One thing I use to do years ago was to install the boots first then install the pistons by using air pressure to expand the boots so they go around the piston when installing them. I am like you. I try to rebuild if it is way cheaper!!! Have a great week Bro!!
Good to see you can find the rebuilds for calipers. My local parts stores (all of them) kept telling me they couldn’t find those parts anymore because liabilities, but I haven’t used any Chi-com caliper that lasted or wasn’t junk outa the box so I don’t know what they are talking bout
You can also try a large C clamp . You may need 2 with dual piston . I used the handle end of a large hammer to push the pistons in while holding the opposite end . The C clamp and put the old pad on the piston can also push it in . I enjoy the videos !
When compressing caliper pistons, the best tool I have found is a pair of c-clamp vise grips and the old brake pad (so you don't have to open the vise grips as far. They have lots of leverage. Just have one hand squeezing, andwhen it locks, give it a second, release and turn the screw with your other hand and repeat until the pistons are seated. Way easier on the fingers and they are easier to manage because they don't need as much room to work as a regular c clamp, and you can grip the pad and caliper with one hand out dropping anything.
Thank you!!! What happened to all the shops that use to rebuild everything from Alternators to turning drums and rotors? When did everything become throw away?
If you can do it, Then ya keep money from going to the cheap chee place and keep the money here in the land of the free. Land of the free at least for the time being. Happy Motoring

I like to lubricate the piston and seal with brake fluid before I slide the piston back into the caliper. Much friendlier with a bit of lube.
Nice!!

Cheap Chinese parts, but we’re gonna wake up pretty soon and realize that rebuilding versus replacing is always gonna be the way it has to be
