They're shamed for being overweight and then shamed for taking meds to help with their weight! So ridiculous they feel the need to lie about it. Don't care what these ladies say, they ARE on it or a form of it. My doc put me on it after menopause because my weight gain, which really doesn't respond to "working out" after a certain age, was causing me lots of other health issue. Well, not only did I lose weight, but it cleared up the following health issues I had: pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver. I feel and look so much better for having used it.

This is for diabetes patients which seems like you were prediabetic so ok. Otherwise it's wrong to use it when people need it to live.
Man you people trust doctors too much. There is no such thing as “not responding to working out.” Fat is simply excess energy not used by the body. If your not responding to working out is because you are barely working out.
If you are eating like a normal person and not indulging in high calorie foods, and exercising regularly you will lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.
Your body is like a car and food is like fuel. If you are topping up your car with fuel all the time and never drive the car you are going to overflow the fuel tank.
Or if you are always topping up with fuel and drive the car 5 miles per hour for 15 min (low activity) you are also going to overflow the fuel tank.
Now if you are putting a fuel in the car and regularly driving it on the highway the car will have a “healthy “ fuel tank. Not overflowing.

I sympathize with diabetics who can't get access to this drug. IMHO, diet, exercise and reasonable intermittent fasting schedules are far more healthier than the easy way out of injecting oneself. The side and long term effects still haven't been researched.

@@rree4551 I used to be, but lost 90lbs via fasting, exercise and a healthy diet. The weight loss took longer than the meds, but it was the healthier choice.
My sister is on it due to diabetes and it made her extremely sick for 2 months, which is normal. It can also make a person lose too much weight - my sister's doctor wanted to take her off because she became very underweight. I feel bad for my sister, because no matter what she did she couldn't lose weight due to diabetes. Then she lost too much weight. My niece is pre-diabetic and won't take it because she is scared of getting cancer. There are so many side-effects to medicines my sister is on. If someone is healthy and can work out or already works out, I would not want to be on meds if I truly did not have to be on them ❤
I’m taking wegovy (pre diabetic) but I can’t stay on it long. It makes me very very nauseous and lethargic. Also, it’s always available..no shortage.
I refuse to take it after reading the side affects even cancer! I decided to walk 5 miles a day with 18 fasting. I’m down 27 lbs and feel great. Low carb diet as well.

Definitely don't take medical advice from celebs but let's be honest it seems that heaps of these LA drs are just glorified drug dealers if it's approved for obesity that means your on your way to being diabetic most likely anyway but the fact that these normal sized women are being prescribed this to lose five pounds is outrageous.
These people as well as social media needs to stop glamorizing any medication especially ones need for actually medical care because its causing a shortage and an addiction to a med that really not necessarily for them. Also there could be complications but who cares as long as they lose the 5 pounds right

The rats they tried it on got cancer mostly thyroid which is rare so down the road when celebs start getting thyroid cancer you’ll know. It’s not taken the same as people on diabetes

I’m diabetic I don’t have tendencies to be overweight but I do have major fluctuations in my weight this time last year I was 90lb now I’m at 120 so can it help stabilize weight or is it weight loss only

There’s different versions of semaglutide like wegovy, and mounjaro. Ozempic is the only one geared towards diabetics. If people need it to boost their weight loss who cares especially when there’s an obesity epidemic. Getting healthier shouldn’t be shunned upon. And semaglutide has been around forever and the “dangerous” side effects are extremely rare; unless thyroid cancer runs in your family then there isn’t much to worry about
Blame the doctors and the drug companies. I’ve had two doctors try to push it on me.
@@juniorsolorio8269 No, I'm diabetic and I know that all of those medications are for Diabetics. People being given this when you don't have diabetes is called being prescribed it "off label". Semaglutide hasn't been around "forever". I assume you are quite young to say that. Your perspective on what is a lengthy period of time will change as you get older. When something has been around for 10 years or longer, that is what medically is considered a long time. Such as Metformin. It is considered an old medication, but very safe, b/c it has had such a long history being taken by a ton of people. However, you are right about the thyroid cancer risk.

You are not supposed to give away your unwanted prescription medicine. That is illegal. That is why its on prescription. Also, there are no short cuts. These meds make you too nauseated to want to eat. Its not a short cut. You know what helps? Psycotherapy and seeing a registered dietician. Anything that gets you losing weight will make it so much harder to lose weight next time you gain it back- and you will- so the best way is to build muscle which burns calories even when you are at rest. Plus once you excercise regularly your bldy will not want to eat crap.

Sadly, I read an article yesterday, that this medication was originally made to help people with diabetes. Apparently there are so many people taking it for weight loss that people with diabetes cannot get the medication. I thought that was an interesting concept? I thought they also made something else just for weight loss but I could be wrong. I really don’t follow it all that much, I do know some people who have used it and have gotten incredibly sick because of that. And then you see them give it to people who were thin to start with and don’t need really to lose any weight it’s just hurting the people who really need the medication.
I spoke to my pharmacist and she said that the one that was released for weight loss doesn't work as well, so people are still using Munjaro and Ozempic. The reason for the shortage is because it is being used by celebrities and other people who are vain and selfish and have no medical reason to use it. I have a new respect for Chelsea Handler for not taking Ozempic because it is not medically necessary. I saw a segment on the View where Sunny Hostin and Whoopi said they take Munjaro or Ozempic for weight loss. No mention of needing to reduce blood sugar, and no hint of remorse or guilt for taking medicine away from people who need it for medical reasons.

Well, it should not be available to non-diabetics, if diabetics are not getting it. However, it should be available to those who are pre-diabetic or morbidly obese. Those with metabolic disorders should come first.
