I’m currently riding a Nukeproof scout 27.5. I bought the frame earlier this year and have loved it ever since. I came from a Scott Spark.
Scott Sparks are pretty quick mtbs ! How does the Scout compare in terms of reactivity and uphill/downhill speed ?
@@hartthur Uphill is great since it’s a hardtail, I get the instant power to the back wheel. Downhill is definitely slower without rear suspension, but what I lost in downhill speed I gained in climbing. Also, the scout isn’t as twitchy as the Spark, which has made me a much smoother rider. I also run 2.6” wide tires Vittoria Mezcal rear and Barzzo front.
@@JasonFerguson17t thanks for the report mate, I'm still on the market for a replacement for my Canyon Neuron. I'm still hesitating if I break the bank for a high-end hardtail such as the mid-range Chameleon or the top-of-the-range Scout, or if I keep it with its flaws (uphill speed, high speed stability, comfort) and qualities (mid-speed confidence and quality components). I'll see if I find one for sale near me, if it's yellow then I'm already sold
Rocking a Roscoe 9, I love it🤘
Same mate! Love it!
Got me a Roscoe 7 in that gorgeous Mulsanne blue and couldn't be happier 😊
Nukeproof scout has to be the greatest hard tail of all, I have had 2 of them and love them! The numbers sold and scout community must make it one of the greatest MTBs ever
Totally agree 👍
Nah, Ragley is the true king of hardtails. mmmbop, Blue Pig, Marley you name it
Great Video!💯
Love my BMC two stroke AL1, currently at 24 pounds! Alloy frame Build kit:
120mm Rock shox Reba
Full GX drivetrain
Enve carbon bar
Easton 60mm stem
ESI racer grips
Hunt race XC alloy wheels 1500 grams!
One up 120 dropper
Victoria barzo race tires
Fizik saddle
XT brakes
TIME clipless pedals
Bike is a rocket!🚀
I just built myself a '23 Kona Honzo ST on a MX wheelset. Geo makes it feel like a big DJ just with a cassette, but it has rear dropouts so when I get too old to ride HT on trails I can convert it into a wicked hipster steelie fixed gear street cruiser and wear a bunch of scarves in the middle of summer while riding it. I also have an Ibis DV9 frameset sitting in the box but gotta replenish my funds for that build 😅
HELLOOOOO!!!! The Canyon Stoic 4 is a beast!!!! Up and downhill 🎉🎉🎉
The best hardtail of all times is the Banshee Paradox V3.
I've got a Ragley BluePigRace, Proper Weapon...Ha !
Just picked up the Ibis DV9 and am loving it so far.
'On-One Scandal' is regularly on sale for £900, without a doubt the best hardtail for the money
Got a whyte 629 2years ago, great efficient bike to run along side my full suss whyte T140 RS
Got a 2018 steel Naked hardtail!! Made in Canada. Still my favorite bike !
Dartmoor Hornet - on my second, beast of a machine that can take up to 180 mm fork and can do everything from pump track with the kids to fun DH (put a rim protectory in the rear). Super well priced as well.
Yes especially newest Hornet and Primal are suprisingly good. DARTMOOR!
The Ragley Big Wig es re released this year and is even more aggressive than the Laufey 😅 also the Big Al and the whole Ragley lineup got refreshed
Love the Big Al. I have the previous version as a singlespeed. Such a great frame!
Bird Zero 29, love it 🇬🇧
There are some great ones coming out of small builders. Love my Neuhaus hummingbird.
Just ordered a ragley mmmbop very excited to see how it shreds
Let us know, how it does. I have been on a Big Wig for 5 weeks now and I ❤ it
Got a 629v5 a few months ago for only £1.2k, great bike but pretty heavy at 36lbs with fenders, tube strap and bottle holder. Upgraded chainring to 34t as I was spinning out on fire roads etc
Ibis DV9 Gen 2. Love it!!!
I’m still riding a cove stiffe from 2008 with 26 inch wheels
Commencal Meta HT here, loving every ride
Ragley are the Kings
Yes!!!
Merida Big Trial 700 for me 👍🏻
Big up for the Commencal Meta HT - bought mine as a frame and built it up which means I have the only kind in the world (haven't seen one online like mine yet). Great as an allrounder and really comes alive at the bike parks
Agreed bro,, I also have e custom build one,, It's a one of a kind..
Cannondale's new hardtails are sick! Been riding the HT 2 and love it
Got a transition trans am frame on the way can’t wait to get it and build it up
I picked up a chrome TransAm frame, can't wait to build it up!
I have been riding a Klein Attitude XX since 2006. My new bike just arrived today: Mondraker Podium Carbon RR SL.
Ragley mmmbop. Love it!
My favorite hard tail released this year: the Viral Wanderer, built for a pinion drive.
Cotic Solaris was updated this year, it's a 120mm xc bike with really good downhill skills for those of us in the mountains.
Custom steel bike frame from Marino for $600. You specify the geometry and build it how you want. The DREAM
Not to mention they will paint custom graphics and/or do a custom engraving for an extra $30. I've got a 725 steel hardtail otw and I spend almost all of my waking moments obsessing about how to spec it
@@FOTB407 Nice! Just got my 853 hardtail 2 months ago and have 490 miles on it. I got the translucent candy red paint, pure beauty. People are stopping and staring. Built it up for fast downhills and bike parks, but it also climbs pretty well.
I brought a orange p7 2023 hardtail size small new £ 1400 I love it best bike ever I have a trek slash 8 which I love too
Love my P7! Does everything so well
I fancy one of them
The on one hello dave , pole taival, and kona honzo esd are also great bikes 👍
Ragley big al 2023 here , built up for winter slop slaying . Makes sense in winter to save the expensive full suspension bike from winters worst riding .
Question, is WD-40 good for the chain?
On one scandal 👍
Yep, regularly on sale for £900 which is a steal
The Canyon Stoic holds a special place in my heart, it rides well, looks nice, is durable (at least in my experience) and good value for money!!!
Totally agree. I bought a Canyon Stoic 3 this year and am having an absolute blast on this bike.
Yeah same here I bought my Stoic 4 in March 2022 better spec and cheaper than the Orbea laufey
Pretty excited to pick up a cheap used 2021 Stoic 2 this week and start upgrading it (it's my second MTB since actually starting)!
I was torn between Stoic 3 and Grand Canyon 7. I ended up picking the Grand Canyon because I ride it quite a bit around city for commuting and also got a good price on sale for just 1.000€. I think either of those is a great budget choice!
Love my Kona Honzo ESD 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
ORBEA LAUFEY!🤍🙌
I am having a dilemma with which bike to buy. I am looking at Commencal Meta HT AM Ride Dirt vs Trek Roscoe 7. Both coming at 1700 AUD. If you have any suggestion. Please comment below. Thanks, in advance.
Voodoo Bizango the best budget hardtail on the market
Check the jack flash if your lucky enough to get them in stock pal, makes the voodoo feel like a biscuit
In what way is the new laudey lower ? ;)
Just getting back into MTBing and got myself a giant fathom 2, mainly because the guys in the shop were actually nice and didn't come across as elitist. also the bike was available in my size.
Cotic BFE max for the win!
Intense DJ- Go on John, pretend to change gear !!! 😂
Missing the Canyon Stoic in here.. A lot of bike for the money! And soooo much fun to ride..
What about the new dartmoor hornet pro 🤔
Bird Forge: Award winning steel frame that comes alive.
How about the Canadian made Rocky Mountain Growler 50
Quick question for some reason with my front fork xcm sa suntour they don't compress with my weight and only do with heavy impact even then they don't soak up much of it what would you recommend for them as they are coil?
How much do you weigh? That's a coil spring fork and it sounds like your spring is too stiff for your weight, just have to look up springs for your fork and find a softer one. I'd check to see what part number is on the spring in your fork before though so you can know for sure that's what it is.
@@David-ys4xb Thanks for the help I will look into that I ride a specialized rockhopper comp and I weigh about 45-50kg
Take the fork apart and clean it all up and put on new grease. Unfortunately those coil suntour forks just suck. If you can get a rockshox recon or suntour epixon it'll be so much better. Me and my buddy upgraded to those two forks from our coil suntour forks.
@@Snailistic My guess is you just need a softer coil, which are like 20-30 bucks.
Where's the Canyon Stoic, Nukeproof Scout, and the Cannondale Habut HT?
Ragley Marley 275 and 290 here 😎
My paradox banshee is too good for this video
Haro Double Peak Comp
Ragley Big Al
Trek Roscoe
I just picked up my first hard tail at 59 years old. When I turn 80 I'll start thinking about ebike.
I have a very old 853 steel hardtail for that kind of money I wish I could replicate it with modern geo 😂
You can! Just have Marino build you one for $600!
Just got mine 2 months ago after 8 months of waiting, but it's worth it. 853 steel, but they have other options too. They also make custom full suspension frames.
yeah the scout kick all these asses
Forgot the canyon stoic!
The Polygon Xtrada is great value... Around 600$US
Cannondale's, somewhat new, Scalpel HT is a really fun bike considering it's an out and out XC race hardtail. It's slacker than most XC hardtails making it quite enjoyable to ride at high speeds, even on slightly rough terrain. I've certainly fell in love with mine and it will be my winter riding weapon this year!
Thinking of Serious El Capitan 29".
Serious Rockville Budget ok but not good. 😂
Shame you had to try and shove in an orbea just because they're sponsors, there are so many better bikes for the hardcore category
Now that Propain has replaced Orbea, I expect a bunch of videos saying that hardtails are dead.
Love my GT Avalanche Sport. Lovely hardtail 🤟
This is their best list…..
Canyon Stoic for me
Why are you pricing in USD? Is this not a UK channel?
current honest hottest hardtail is the BIRD FORGE
Why is the pricing quoted in US Dollars?? Your a UK based channel...... It just makes me cross as a nation we need to doft our cap 🙄
Spot on mate, I was going to ask the same question
Love how gmbn never showcases the trek Roscoe in any of their hardtail videos
There are plenty of great trail hardtails now days thankfully and the Trek Roscoe is one of them, I love mine.
You missed Grand canyon series from Canyon.
The big question for me is, how does an American company like Moots know what a Womble is? Kudos to them.
Nukeproof scout
Think budget for most people will be between 300 - 500
Trek Roscoe 7,8 or 9
These bikes seem pretty reasonably priced.
With huge sales on. You would have to be a wally to pay those prices😂
The 2023 Canyon Stoic 4 has similar geo and 140mm travel but WAY WAY better specs than the Orbea Laufey H30 at the same (and sometimes lower) price:
+ Better Fork: RockShox Pike Select RC vs Recon RL
+ Better Drivetrain: Shimano Deore M6100 12-speed vs M5100 11-speed
+ Better Cassette and Chain: Shimano Deore vs Sun Race + KMC
+Better Brakes: Shimano Deore M6100 4-piston vs MT 200 2-piston
+ Better Wheels: DT Swiss AM LN (w/ 370 hubs) vs Orbea in-house aluminum
+ Better Tires: Schalwbe Magic Mary & Hans Dampf vs Maxxis Dissector
...ohne Probleme mit 120 mm Gabel zu fahren. Eigenaufbau mit 120mer Gabel 9.8kg
Why are we doing prices in $? Weird.
Or the Forge!
@jb2cool_mtb definitely, would love a forge to replace my mrk 1 Zero at some point
Binary Maniak???
any dartmoor Hornet user here?
Hardtail wise, honestly Chromag nailed it for Geo. Rootdown for the trail enduro and Docktahawk for the gravity side.
Everyone else has basically made copies in Alu and Steel with different features for compliance.
Honzo ESD is one of the best executed bikes that most bike shop mechanics own
First
It’s Laufey, not Lauefy
And SRAM, not 'SHRAM.'
YETI ARC IS SUPERIOR TO ALL OF THESE YA WOMBLES
£1500 is not budget
relative to other bikes it is extremely budget, whenever i go to a bike park the average bike is 3-6k
Agree 👍
It's the point where you get proper(ish) bits though.
Depends on your income.
Sorry they weren't thinking of jobless when making this video. Next time they'll do a dumpster diving video that's in your budget.
You sold your souls, I enjoyed the watch though....
That's gotta be a wig
£pounds£ not dollars! You are a uk channel first !
Budget😂
Full sus for me every time!
You never rode a good ht 👍🏼
Ur the future E-Bike rider 😂😂😂😂
Nobody asked lol
I still love my hardtail but after getting a FS I choose that most of the time now. For smoother trails I do still choose my hardtail. Something about hardtails is so beautiful but FS is so much faster on harder trails.
I have to poop
Cos Obea is your sponsor??? And it’s Laufey, not Lauefy, please at least get the name right FFS
Not a fan
Someone please tell mop-top to never say “rad” again.
I think you did tough guy
Sold my v3 scout to fund an ebike about 6 months ago.
Just bought another frame and sized up this time, in the process of building it up now!
