- Wild camping over Meldon reservoir, and some meandering across Dartmoor. including a closer look at Meldon Viaduct.
This video starts at High Willhays where we spent the night before in some terrible weather after a days hike in the same said bad weather.
I was out with @Linleys by the way.
So after leaving High Willhays we visited Yes tor, West Mill tor. then over to Black Down and after picking up some water in the valley we took ourselves up Longstone Hill to a viewpoint above Meldon reservoir where we pitched up for the night.
Before making our way out the park we stopped for a closer look at Meldon Viaduct.

Thanks Terry, I'd go there often but it's a long drive and requires a bit of planning. but it's a fantastic place that I try to visit at least once a year.

Nice bit of history thrown in. Incidentally, a lotta old country lines have been repurposed as, what are known as "rail trails" here, for hiking and mountain biking, which is all very well, though it doesn't help if you ever want/need to re-open 'em to trains ........... down the track . Been stewing for ages about getting the ice flame. Only thing stopping me is the rate I go through camping mats. Great for hammocks tho
I really rate the ice flame. had it a couple of years now, and while it's not really a winter thing. for the summer it's great, and weighs nothing. makes a difference in the pack.
Have to get you down and take you to some stunning tors.

it was a wonderful trip, really enjoyed the challenge of the first day and then the relaxed nature of the second. and the area around Meldon is just stunning. Well worth the drive!
