    Hi Andy, i treat my pond with a salt solution every very late autumn, i keep the pond maintained at my doze for several weeks imbetween water changes, after this i then let pond salt solution slowly dilute over the weeks again by water changes ( all water changes are when i flush drain and filters weekly). Late February i then redose pond with salt, by late April theres no salt remaining in pond, ive been doing this for the past 3 years and have never found any flukes etc, before this i suffered every year with flukes etc.

    Hope the treatment does the trick Andy…. 🤞🏼 👍🏼

    The need for flukes treatments at this time of year is a failure of annual planning. It disrupts the first half of the important feeding season. In Japan, a lot of effort is usually put into setting up and implementing an annual plan, including pre-sterilisation, to control the fluke outbreak itself.

      Interesting you commenting on 'sterilisation ' pre season.. Does this mean you would randomly treat the pond pre-season as a precaution and what with...🤔🤔🤔

      @@KoiPondLifestyle No one has a microscope, but we all practice not to miss the early symptoms. More details are given in my list " KOI pond's sterilisation ".

    Yes we tested our pond the other day and both nitrite and nitrate were high. Not dangerously but higher than usual , we put it down to the fact I had severely pruned and re-potted the pond plants , so we did a quarter water change , luckily for us there was a very heavy rainfall which is drained off the roof into the pond when needed.

    Interesting video.
    I've always found that dosing higher than stated is the only time that the stuff has worked!
    Interestingly, there is a lot of talk amongst growers and hobbyists that the manufacturers purposefully under prescribe the dose on the bottle to prevent any possible liability issues!

    microscopic algae that is suspended and floating in the pond water effects nitrite and nitrate.
    So that is the reason Blanket Answer can alter nitrite and nitrate.
    As it kills off microscopic algae you can not see which effects both nitrite and nitrate.

    At the moment nitrate in my Thames water is the same as the pond, at minimum, but a couple of years ago the mains water was two to three times higher than the ponds reading.

    Hi Alan, nitrate for me has been consistent for the last three months at 5.0 , you'll probably remember I'm also in Stoke. pond temp's however have been up and down like a fiddler's elbow between 11c n for two days only 18c. Hopefully you will put an end to those irritating flukes 🤞🤞, look forward to your next catch up. Gwen 🧓

    We live in Pennsylvania. Our Nitrates have been high as well as Phosphates. I swear the water company is the culprit to some of these high parameters. I contacted them last year to ask what they use to clean the system because they notified us that they have changed their cleaning methods/chemicals. They emailed me a 50 page pdf and I still don’t know what chemicals they are using. 😒

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  Před měsícem

      Hiya, thanks for that feedback. Sounds like you water company has supplied you with the legally required info. Maybe get back to them and ask again for the info that isn't in the documents they sent..🤔😉👍 you...

    I wonder if you can make the fluke immune to the Fluke P by doing less and less treatment?

      I understand what it normally is but there have been issues from what I see on CZcams from many locations, we hear about acid rain, cloud baiting many conflicts going on where there are continuous atmospheric discharges, so thought it maybe worth checking

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  Před měsícem

      Yeah I believe it depends if you live near certain industries that create chemical or dusts that settle in the rain clouds then dumps it in the pond 🤨🤔👎

    oh dear...hope you get it sorted. Thought I had a koi that was clamped..but caught/scraped/salt bathed....nothing showed up on the scope...will keep an eye on it. All the others seem fine and eating like little piggies. I have way more fish than you and not as good a filter system and my nitrate is around 5.0

  • @PondKoiTipsTricks
    @PondKoiTipsTricks Před měsícem +1

    Hydrogen Peroxide and Sodium Thiosulphate together it will kill some fluke but it also makes the fish create mucus which makes it easy to treat with Parakill.
    Parakill fluke are not used to it so bye bye fluke.
