@@ianb4musicin my humble study of Clapton I learned and unlearned and relearned that he uses the first two (sometimes three) fingers for strumming in a peculiar way. The fingerpicking and strumming is not as "contoured" as that of Big Bill Broonzy.
Some real nasty acoustic playing here and he uses the 7th chords up and down the whole guitar neck. Respect!!!
You look at him, he does it in perfect harmony, as if the object in his hand was part of his body.
One of the best versions of this song. Compares very well with the version EC does with the Allman Bros.

This is indeed all right hand - I have the left down, but I can't get it to sound anywhere near as smooth and effortless as he does :D

Although this song was written until 1940, I'm sure it was played years earlier. Wonder if Robert Johnson came across it in his ramblings.......
