Note: Interestingly, according to akashadata.com, 4pc ToTM on Zhongli has about 55% usage on him with all other set options in single digit %'s
For anyone going for zhongli in his upcoming rerun, or even if you're a casual player who hasn't managed to work on him yet, I thought it would be an interesting video to think about which artifact set I would recommend someone to prioritise farming first for him.
As we all know zhongli has tons of viable sets and playstyles so it can be overwhelming looking at all the options. So sometimes it can be good to just get a universal set for starters, and then later when you have time you can go for more specialised builds!
Of course if you only plan on playing him in 1 specific team or playstyle, then feel free to just get the best set for that!
@@grumpsKB for newer players? vourukasha isn't in the strongbox so wouldn't go out of my way to farm that for zhongli unless you are maining a character who wants sets from that domain
I use Emblem on my Zhongli. It's amazing for overworld his burst can wipe out groups of enemies easily. 30K HP is strong enough so why not build his for his damage. His burst animation gives tons of s PLUS even more breathing time with patrification so he makes abyss runs very comfy.
Gotcha, in some cases Zhongli’s long burst time eats time that would otherwise be spent on other units, but I can see how useful the i frames are
@@LuckyFlanker13 If enemies are not that aggressive then you can always just not use his burst and spend time on other characters. But I feel very comfortable against aggressive enemies because of his patrification. It stops everything and you can just chill for some time knowing you won't die in next few seconds. BUT if enemies are too aggressive and you refuse to dodge any of their attacks then even 60K HP Zhongli shield does not feel enough. 😄😄

For some reason I never really consider some of these options, even though they're almost as good as your "baselines", like TotM and Instructor, which I always use because of simplicity and ease of use.
Personally use my C2 Zhongli on 4pc Petra with a HP/geo/crit build with 31k HP with Vortex Vanquisher for…aesthetics 🌝 so I’ve got a somewhat strong shield while having good burst capability to petrify enemies if I need to. Use him in Hu Tao double hydro team.
I used to run him with 4pc ToM, with the same main stats as Petra can’t remember what the HP total was as it’s been some time since I changed over, I did dabble in the 3x HP ToM too having a strong tanky shield was nice for awhile, but over time I found myself switching to Petra as the condition to get the ToM buff become more of a hassle for me to place his pillar in a way that it doesn’t break while also playing near it to get said buff with which required to much set up time and could potentially ruin reaction based teams I tried him in.
is pulling for him even worth?I will probably use him on a Kuki, Nahida,Yelan Hyperbloom coz kuki alone on EM feels bad to use in abyss. or just build a C4 Layla to make it a hyperfridge.

What about 2p 2p Vorukasha+Tenacity? Seems to be the most new player friendly set.
it can be fine but I wouldn't advise it for everyone since vorukasha isn't in the strongbox so needs direct domain farming
@@jamiekb9v saw this late but you can also get Vorukasha from Spiral Abyss drops, so situationally a good option!
Noblesse Zhongli for Burst support?
HP/Geo/HP + Rightful reward (565 ATK/27.6% HP)
Is this a good build for doing good burst damage but also having strong shield? Any other options for such playstyle because I dont want to not utilize his awesome burst.

@@kindanooby2988 despite higher HP%, it has painfully low base attack and I am doing a hybrid build.
As Zhongli main, I do have 2 builts. Mostly of the time, I have ToM for a comfort gameplay. Sometimes I'm having fun with phys Zhongli. I do triple crown him
For me I’ve been avoiding zhongli because when I started everyone said zhongli makes the game too easy you’ll never have to dodge again, which I was maining electro keqing and having a fun challenge while everyone else was using hu tao vape or ganyu charge shot. Now with dendro meta and I have units like nilou that you literally cannot play with zhongli, I’m debating if I even need him. I have yoimiya and hu tao both c0 with 4* weapons and I can clear 9-11 easy enough but with current meta I haven’t been able to clear 12 with them because you either need too much elemental application to break shields or specific element reactions to handle the bosses on 12. I might pull on his banner if there was like a sucrose on it, I’m still only c2 for her but atm nothing wanting me to pull atm.
Zhongli is probably the best gift you can give for Yoimiya and Hu Tao if you main or like them. For current floor 12, you can go Nilou Bloom for first half and Yoimiya/Hu Tao OverVape (Xingqiu/Yelan + Fischl/Yae/Kuki/Raiden + Bennett/shielder/hydro/electro) or OverBurgeon (Xingqiu/Yelan + Fischl/Yae/Kuki/Raiden + dendro). Bring a grouper like Sucrose/Kazuha/Venti for first half if you have (if not, Nilou Bloom is good enough), bring at least one hydro for first half team. For second half bring at least one electro (having dendro too would be best but electro is enough). Remember it's okay to use different teams for each chamber, and try another day if the day's abyss cards are not good. If not sure about the strategy or rotation, there's many 3.8 Abyss runs of Nilou Bloom and Yoimiya/HuTao Overvape/Overburgeon, recommended to watch for inspiration. @@verzetta I guess the problem comes from 2nd side. With nilou I’m using nahida / nilou / yelan / yaoyao which can clear in 60 seconds or less, great I got 2 minutes to work with 2nd side. My normal second team is yae miko, Al haitham, Dori, kazuha and I can barely clear 2nd half of chamber 1 with time I usually have like 10-20 seconds left which if I used 90 on first half would make impossible to get to. Maybe it’s my grouping that’s bad or something will have to check other people’s runs like you mentioned.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Deepwood as ZL's res shred stacks with the set bonus and it lets you run your dendro damage dealer on a more offensive set...you have a flex slot in most dendro team archetypes and he's great in that role
honestly deepwood zhongli is mostly a meme. for example nahida just has so much consistency and range to activate deepwood, so even if on a spreadsheet a set like gilded dreams could be a few % better in perfect conditions, it never really ends up that way

I guess I'll start farming Archaic for him, and I'll start building Noblesse on Yelan/Xingqiu.
I still have Kirara/Yaoyao for my Dendro teams at least so he won't use Deepwood
I've been running him on petra since yao yao came out, I have 51k hp and the shard mechanic is sometimes satisfying
does petra and veridescent buff works in a same team?
Yes for example you can play both Petra zhongli and kazuha to buff your dps 💪

ToM is terrible on zhongli bc his pillars are often got left behind and dont hit a single soul, plus theirs ridiculously small radius. it only usable when zhongli has access to others' geo constructs.

I dont have often problems in that regards. When Totm works its best. if it doesnt its still ok cos 20% hp. If you lose Zhong shield often ur a bad player.
Sadly I pulled Homa for Zhong, build him dps and yeah its ussualy worse than having him on Fav. My wanderer for example can do 3 CA /220k/ dmg in the same time ZhongLi burst animation finishes /140k/.
hp + hp is mostly worthless since his shield is already that strong, also you'll always get a proc or two from ToM so dw about it not hitting the enemies
Is he really worth it for clearing abyss at c0 without a limited 5* weapon and no crazy artifact substats? I heard really mixed opinions
Depends on the main dpses you are playing. Since I only really recommend pulling who you like and also pulling supports to build around those characters you like 👍
Honestly, no.
If you really wanted to spend on a support unit, there are _better_ options for low spenders.
From what I've seen, the comfort Zhongli provides is more appreciated at dolphin levels, in teams with enough constellations and investment that three units are enough to deal with content.
However, as with everything Genshin, It Depends©
4 pc tenacity on zhongli is hardly worth it. Your pillars break on wrong placement, on enemy hitbox, or enemies simply run away from it, even with c1 its hard to justify 4 totm because of the same reasons. It may be the most used but its also the most overrated and a product of the past where less enemies were super mobile, and if youre at c0, hold down your skill, only for the enemy's wonky hitbox to instadestroy it like with albedo's flowers, you've just wasted an entire artifact set and have to retry when his skill is up again.
This is the reason why i use 2 vourukasha + 2 totm... aside from the fact that i just cant let those vourukasha pieces be left unused bcs they have cracked stats (previously used by yelan, and she has her own eosf set now).
@@Wreckedandruinedand yeah, as someone who owned zhongli since release, it just becomes more beneficial to have just enough shielding and use noblesse instead for buffing or 2pc combos that help you do hybrid effectively. 4 tenacity is just such an inferior option because of all the pitfalls. And this is coming from a geo main that 36 starred current rotation with only geo

petra, instructor and petra are all very very similar depending on assumptions. i think instructor slightly better if hu tao well invested, or petra if yelan was

Deepwood is also viable for dendro teams where the main dps want to use another offensive set (Alhaitham, Tighnari etc) 👍
I mentioned it in another comment's response but yea its fine if you aren't playing them with nahida. otherwise generally deepwood zl is mostly a meme
@@jamiekb9v I disagree with it being a meme, KeqingMains and others recommend it. Nahida can help the other team, and Alhaitham/Tighnari can run double electro (AggraSpread) or hyperbloom under Zhongli's protection and Deepwood shred. In Alhaitham/Tighnari team, Zhongli's personal damage contribution is not significant even with Emblem (usually no Bennett). Petra would only work for electro teammate(s), Deepwood can compete with or even better than Milelith in this specific circumstance depending on dps contribution ratio between the dendro and electro units (the smaller total dps contribution of electro units, the better Deepwood is). When solo dendro, Alhaitham/Tighnari can run Gilded for more personal dps if someone else can server as the Deepwood holder. It's a good alternative to Instructor if the team wants a stronger shield. There was also a time when Instructor on Zhongli was regarded as meme.

@@jamiekb9v Like Alhaitham, Yae, Fischl/Bennett/Xingqiu/Yelan, Zhongli for first half, and Nahida helping with Nilou bloom/burgeon/AggraSpread/another hyperbloom for second half. But of course i agree, if Nahida is on the team, she's the best holder of Deepwood and Zhongli should run another set like Milelith or Instructor instead. And yeah, i was confused too when i first saw Deepwood recommendation for Zhongli. Previously it was Instructor when it became popular for Hu Tao teams, but Deepwood was more unexpected.

"Instructor is a 4* set, and it's not easy to get". *Me AR 60 with 3 Instructor sets on my Zhongli, Kirara and Bennett* I don't have such weaknesses :)

What about full The Exile set (4*)? With Fav and this set Zhongli will be really good battery on mono-geo and other teams if it will be necessary.
And yeah, dendro-set is also good in dendro teams, but a lot of comments said this already.
gorou might be a better option for exile in mono geo

@@milkronin2488it's probably better to test it yourself, is your Itto/Noelle enough with one Exile users or not. But most of the time Gorou alone is enough considering he's using Fav
mono geo doesn't have energy issues because of exile + fav on gorou, so this will just be a meme
