Hello Mr. Darity. Thank you for the work that you do. I had two thoughts that I would like your thoughts about. 1) I read somewhere, that the majority of United States citizens who identify as African American, arrived in the United States after the passage of the Civil Rights Legislation of the 1960's. So that the percentage of African Americans who are descended from American Slavery is 1 person out of 10. Do you feel this is accurate?
And 2) In terms of who would be eligible for Reparations, do you think that using genealogy to trace one's ancestors to the end of America's Civil War utilizing the Civil War Soldier and Sailor Database at nps.gov, as well as the National Archives records, would be a valid way to document that one's Ancestors are actually Survivors of American Slavery, thus entitling their descendants to receive Reparation?
As an amateur American African genealogist, I am Truly Grateful for the work that you do! THANK YOU!

Where are my black people on this. Oh yeah working. Smh, they are suppose to listening to this. Sadly many aren't concerned with this. Simply because many believe they won't get it. Let alone know how to discuss this.

For starters... Slavery is more complex than the narrative being pushed so I doubt we will get any money. The descendants of the Jewish Holocaust and Japanese Internment Camps can be directly traced to those atrocities as they’re only 1 or 2 generations removed. The average black person is 4 to 7 generations removed from slavery. You will have to prove your ancestors were actual slaves with documentation. Plus, many blacks were freemen and never were enslaved. And there were thousands of black slaveowners in America. It’s just too complicated to cut a check!

@@johntheprofessional5039 Hogwash! My FBA father sent his saliva into one of those third-party genetic testing services and was able to trace his linage on his fathers side to sharecroppers in early 19th century Arkansas. They have census records going all the way back to the 1700's where the US Govt was required to account for every person on US soil, including slaves. It's not that difficult to figure out who was enslaved on US soil. Plus, there's more than 100 years of government-backed systemic theft of Black wealth post-antebellum slavery that needs to be a part of the compensation as well. If there were thousands of black slaveowners in America, as you claimed, where are all of the prosperous black-owned organizations and industries in existence today that got their start from the wealth generated from antebellum slavery of 200 years ago? You DO know that there are Fortune 1000 companies and entire industries that got their start out of the wealth generated from antebellum slavery that are still in existence today, right?

Oh yeah, I’m also including any 1st/2nd generation immigrants who have stepped foot on american soil have by default taken on America’s debt. No free rides, everyone will eventually pay. Black tax payers have historically paid for reparations for every group including the Japanese, the European jews, the white natives, and most recently citizens of Guam!!!

The so-called Native Americans enslaved Black people. Also, several Indian tribes fought with the South States during the Civil War! Currently, Native Americans are getting billions of dollars from the U.S.A., plus they have other tax exemptions and tax options.
      FACT vs FICTIONS:
"What Native American tribes joined the Confederacy?
The Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole nations all signed treaties of alliance with the Confederate States of America in 1861. Official lines were drawn, but the outcome was far from simple."
Therefore, Native Americans owe Black Americans REPARATIONS, too!
