Are you a business in Austin? These videos are super well done, I’m sure they were a lot of work. Been thinking about an r65ls and this has been a great series to study.

One of the rarest parts at the boxer airhed family is a undamaged frontwheel of a R65LS.

Nice. I just got an '82 R65LS back on the road two weeks ago. I bought it from a friend. It had been in boxes (literally 16 boxes) for 5 years. It's not quick, but likes to be ridden fast. These LS's are pretty rare, not because they are in demand but because not many folks bought them. A couple of comments about your and my bike. Do you think your mufflers are stock? Mine might be aftermarket - they look like they are ceramic coated (shiny) and have a taper in the back. Also, I believe all R65s had aluminum colored valve covers - not that that matters. Mikunis are great carbs, but I have no problems with the Bings. I'm watching to see how this bike turns out.

Satin matt black rocker covers are the first mod R65 owners carry out a la R100RS

I have a 79 R65 I want to refurbish. With great pleasure I have watched how she would come apart and go back together. Or I could bring her to you.

Personally think the LS stying mods are un attractive … but like the basic R65 very much .

This is so informative! What size is your ultrasonic cleaner it looks to be big enough for everything!! I just started a 1983 R65 project and this series is great!! Thank you!

It’s actually one off of eBay. It holds about 4 gallons. Sorry for the delay, my son has been doing the edits and posting to CZcams. I just got the logon info tonight!

I'm looking into buying my first BMW. I've been looking at 75/5, 75/6 and the RS65. How do you think the RS65 compares to the /5 and /6 bikes? Thanks!

Which tyres you got on that? They're not tubeless are they?

On my '83 R65 that I got new, I just remove the battery, drain every drop from the gas tank, remove the float bowls, cover the carbs so spiders don't get in, and it will sit indefinitely. And start right up after years. I had to rebuild the cv carb diaphrams a few years ago. I wouldn't dream of pulling any of this machinery apart. It's a BMW and it's designed to last decades and hundreds of thousands of miles with no maintenance really other than fluids, tuneups. If you just cleaned out the fuel system and carbs this bike would probably start immediately. I bet the valves don't even need adjustment. Though I must admit it is fun to see how it all comes apart and the dozens of special tools you need! It's only got 26k on it? That's only just passing the break in period!

Why not put the oil in the cylinders before you try turning it over ? Duh.

Don't fire the engine with the plugs out-you'll kill the ignition system
