    I recently purchased a 1982 R65 with 20,000 miles. This will be the first project for my bike. I thank you for taking the time and effort for putting together such a great video with good music to boot! Take the best of care and stay safe!

      Thank you 😊 The R65 is a great bike. Maitenance is easy and spare parts are available. 20000 miles is not a lot, she is good for 100000+ miles, provided you do the regular valve clearance check, change oils regularly and drive it. As all bikes they need to be moved. Have fun and stay safe.

      I’m in almost the same situation. Bought a ‘82 R65LS with 19k miles. I’m letting the local expert do the 20k major service on it and over the winter the siebenrock Kit will go in

      @@NYCZ31 I would love to have your dual disk set up. It is a motorcycle that SOUNDS like a motorcycle! Smooth as butter and I get nods of approval everywhere I ride, how about you? Happy you getting the Siebenrock! I have heard the torque difference between the two is VERY noticeable and is still BMW reliable! Many happy free safe and maintenance free miles for you, my airhead brother!!!

      nutz4all I only brought it home last weekend, and unfortunately with the COVID getting plates for it from the DMV will take some time. In the meantime I’ll get the full service done and some fresh tires. I’ve already got a 2018 R1200GS but I wanted some simpler and more “pure” and these things are just about bulletproof. plus there won’t be any concern about getting parts for a long time

      @@NYCZ31 I feel your pain. This Covid business is ducked up! I live is SW Florida and it is so darn hot down here, I only get in early morning rides. But I understand your "pure" desire on a bike, and the airhead delivers in spades. Stay healthy and safe and God bless! One more thing, the bike just looks like a motorcycle should!

    A serious question - is there a reason you inserted the piston into the cylinder from the top, then pushed it all the way through so you could connect the wrist pin (piston pin)? I'd have thought, since you have the luxury of taking the cylinder completely off the bike, you'd just insert the piston from the bottom - but there might be a reason why you can't do that. I'm interested to know. :)

    • @neophobiagarage1845
      @neophobiagarage1845  Před 3 lety +5

      Indeed, unlike with a MOTO GUZZI cylinder, with a BMW the piston will not slide into the cylinder as easy, you have to squeeze the rings. If you do it from the top, more than half of the piston is already in the cylinder before the rings enter. So the piston is better aligned, If you do it from beneath, there is only 1 cm of piston in the cylinder before the first ring enters. Also, the top of the piston is easier to tap in compared to the bottom of the piston. I like it better this way. Just my way.......

    nice!! i have r45 for german market (very underpowered) so thinking to buy 860cc kit. so for r45 i should feel even bigger change in torque right? also do you sell your original r65 cylinders and pistons?

    • @neophobiagarage1845
      @neophobiagarage1845  Před 4 lety

      There is a Siebenrock kit for the R45 engines. You have to order the right one. The low HP engines need a different cam shaft which would add a little more work but can be done. The gain in power shall be great. Sorry, my old 65 pistons and cylinders are not for sale. They would not fit your R45 anyway......

      So far no problems, about 4000 km without any hassle. The fuel consumption went up by ca.0,5 L / 100 km . Moreover I installed a long 5th gear which is even more fun.

    hello, i'm also a r65 owner but monolever version. are you satisfied with this power kit? I wonder if I shouldn't do it at the moment. did your performance improve significantly? did the combustion increase? did you change anything else into engines besides the power kit?

      @@eddisc4205 yes, there is even a combination of a spacer ring with integrated air cooler. In summer the oil temperature is going up to 140°C and higher if you drive above 100 km/h. If you lower the speed below 100 it is ok. So the cooler is a must if you go on the highway / Autobahn.
