I still guessed the final word (after the first team guessed to get the starting letter), but yea, pretty hard to play along.
they've done it in the past, though. tell the other team to close their eyes and, if we don't want to see the question, close OUR eyes, show it, then say ok open your eyes. its not that hard@@BeheadedKamikaze

Some better picks:
Hygieia, godess of hygine and cleanliness.
Cloacina, godess who looked after the sewer outflow from Rome and ensured it didn't block.
Crepitus, god of all things bum related(flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, hemeroids, etc).
I don't think anyone other than nerds has heard of those though, so god of the seas is still a safer pick(although I guess it's a case of knowing your friend group).

I feel like the gods question is just unlikely to be a good question for most groups because of most people's limited knowledge of mythology. The handful of gods that most people know are probably not associated with whatever the clue is. I'd consider removing that card from the deck personally and I wouldn't have picked it if I were in Blair/Sully's position.

Constructive criticism - show the question kept by the spirit for one team but not the other. That way we have the experience of playing along with Sully and Blair, for instance, because we would have exactly the same information that they have. Then switch teams for the next one. But it was still fun!

Pretty bad to tell you that you can play along not looking at the word and then not providing you with the questions, it is impossible when you do not know the questions being answered to follow anything of what's happening.
Comforting to read this comment. I thought just I was being dim and slow. couldn't make head or tail of the words. One of those games that I'm sure it's super fun to play but not to watch.

idk I had the first word a few rounds before it was guessed, so it's still possible to play along imo
I figured that I would look at the word for the first round, and then see if I could play along for the later rounds but as soon as I realized that I wouldn’t learn any of the questions I knew that it wouldn’t be possible to play along
I'm actually going to defend Laurie's Hades pick because in the Disney movie Hercules, Hades is defeated by flushing him down the whirlpool of souls.

Poseidon is further associated with toilets (beyond just, water) due to the phrase 'Poseidon's Kiss'.
Most Starfish eat mollusks (clams, mussels and oysters), coral, sponges, and even fish if they get ahold of them, eating algae is much rarer(depends on species)

This one was a lot harder to play along with at home because we had no context to any of the letters being shown. I tried it out with the second game and it was just, impenetrable. Made me want to try out the game for myself though. So...Mission Accomplished?
Can't wait for Lorna, Molly-Rose and Teagan to be added to the title sequence!

The Goddess of toilets/sewers would be Cloacina. But most people wouldn't know that and honestly I can't remember how I know.
I mean, the Roman sewer system was called the Cloaca - as was the entrance to Hades. There's a strong argument to be made.

Every time I'm able to guess one of these ahead of the players, I feel so vindicated! Then I get the catharsis of yelling the correct answer at them.

Somehow I actually got the first word without the questions, I managed to associate piano with tinkling on the ivories. Turns out it was completely unintended 😂 Agree it would have been good to see the questions for one team though.

38:10 The deal with airplane food is that the elevation and pressure makes the receptors in your nose and mouth malfunction, primarily preventing sweet and salty flavours which is a lot of the tastes that would be in the food.

I was playing along and honestly First round only Laurie’s side made any sense to me and I guessed it after two. Loved this game and absolutely playing this next game night

If I don't view the word, there's no way I'm gonna guess it without knowing at least one of the teams' questions.
If I DO view the word there's nothing to guess.
I think the game really just doesn't fit a Let's Play format.

32:13 so just to Um Actually: Elvis did in fact die on the toilet. He was found dead on his bathroom floor - the misconception is he was pronounced dead at a hospital - but that’s because that’s where you get pronounced dead.
Laurie never heard of "Poseidon's kiss", if he had the first one would be over much much sooner.
I'd argue Uranus is pretty close to the word too.
How could they push for Poseidon so hard without mentioning Poseidon's/Neptune's Kiss even once?
I really like how many of those questions are 'what isn't' instead of 'what is', adds some strategy instead of the game depending solely on connecting dots.
EDIT: I have to agree with everyone saying that without questions asked it's hard to play along, but at the same time it could be an interesting addition if there was another 'neutral' medium in the game, that could write down their own entries every two or three guesses by the teams, that would get revealed once one of the teams guessed correctly and rob 'em of their victory if correct/close enough.
I'm sorry Lorrie but I'm on Sully and Blair's side about Hades, just search for Poseidon's Kiss hahahahahaha

This video would be great to play along to... If they showed us the right question. They keep putting the discarded question in the bottom left corner when that isnt what ks being answered. All we needed was the right question.

Everyone knows Sterculius's name is derived from "stercus" or manure/excrement.
I have to say I kind of miss the interview segments in the videos. But this was still a fun watch.
I really liked this game. Other than Hades all the clues were very well thought out.
Makes me want to see them play Codenames again
