- The S7 service, a commuter train, connects Winterthur, the second largest city in the canton (state) of Zurich, with Rapperswil. It runs from Winterthur to Zurich Stadelhofen with stops at all stations, continues further non-stop to Meilen and stops at all stations again until we reach Rapperswil. It seems to be a nice day for trainspotting, as you will discover early in the video!

Der Sound der 450er ist und bleibt einer der schönsten. Danke für deine Videos, schade das es kaum Bezahlbar ist in einem Führerstand mit zu Fahren.
Ich mag die Maschine auch. Sie ist zwar für den S-Bahn Verkehr schon ziemlich ausser Mode, aber sehr zuverlässig und schön zu fahren.
Hi. Da kann ich nur zustimmen! Ich bin regelrecht "süchtig" mit einer S-Bahn zu fahren wenns mit einer RE450 ist. Ist echt die beste Lok die es gibt.

Und wo genau liegt das Problem mit den 130km/h?
Die RE450 ist halt im Gegensatz zur RE460 mehr untersetzt. Daher kann sie „nur“ 130 km/h fahren. Dafür aber fährt sie schneller an als die 460-er. Was mir ja als S-Bahn-Lok wiederum sinnvoll erscheint. Viel häufigieri Halts uns wieder Anfahrten. Die 460-er ist eine Intercity Lok, fährt viel schneller und muss nicht so einen „Anriss“ haben beim losfahren. Ich hoffe ich habe das gut erklärt 😊
Appropos anfahren.. es gibt Lokführer die fahren die RE450 sehr zaghaft und mit wenig Berschleunigung. Bei Deinen Videos fahren sie die RE450 voll aus und das gefällt mir besonders gut. So liebe ich es z.b. selber wenn ich mit einem S-Bahn zug fahre wo die RE450 eingesetzt wird. Ich liebe sie einfach!

It has been over 40 years since I traveled this route. It helped to have a map to look at inbetween. I didn't remember Bassersdorf at all. There sure has been a lot of new developments and of course graffitti which was not there when I lived in Switzerland.

Ein wunderschönes und interessantes Video! Für mich eigentlich immer eine spezielle Sache, wenns im Lok-Führerstand der RE450 aufgezeichnet wird und man dann mit ihr selber "mitfahren" darf und den guten Sound der Lok dazu noch hört . Super gemacht!! Danke!

HEY,cooles video fahre mit der s7 sehr gerne aber nicht oft.ICh wohne in Hombi und wollte sagen, dass wenn man in Feldbach auf den letzen wagon vom parallel zug schaut, dann sieht man dass Wappen von hombrechtikon.Da Feldbach zu hombrechtikon gehört, bedeutet das, dass der "hombrechtikon-zug" in Hombi war

Many thanks for the video!! Not much seems to have changed in 11 years besides a new ramp (13:03), and new tall buildings in Zürich, at (23:55) and (24:32). Recordings (0:12) (25:25) (27:23) are the same, and Oerlikon (19:19) is still so hard to pronounce!!

Wieder eine wunderbare Strecke im S-Bahn-Netz - bravo! Was bedeuten eigentlich die Zahlen die manchmal unterhalb einer gelben oder grünen Signallampe stehen? Sind das Geschwindigkeitsempfehlungen (x10)?
Nicht Empfehlungen sondern vorgeschriebene Höchstgeschwindigkeiten x10. Unterschreiten darf man natürlich.

Like all locomotives, it can get quite bumpy in there, but it's a smooth ride for the passengers.

Schöner Film - danke! Es macht Spass, auf "meiner" S7, mit der ich Jahre lang pendelte, im Führerstand mitzufahren. Schön zu sehen, dass die Überwerfung zwischen Bassersdorf & Kloten nun in Betrieb ist. Frage: Warum wird zwischen Meilen und Uetikon rechts und nicht links gefahren? Gruss aus einem praktisch "bahnlosen" Inselstaat, den Philippinen....:-)
Das hängt mit der Blockbelegung zusammen. Die S7 fährt dort rechts, die S6 links. So kann die S6 in Uetikon bereits abfahren, obwohl die 3 min vorher Richtung Zürich abgefahrene S7 (vielleicht verspätet) Meilen noch nicht erreicht hat.

is there any particular reason why you were put on the right hand track between Meilen and Uetikon?
The S7 always runs on the right track there, I don't know the reason behind it. Probably platform usage in Uetikon.
Hat es eigentlich einen bestimmten Grund, dass manche Zwergsignale (vor allem Vorfeld Züri HB) "falsch herum" stehen? also Spitze des Dreiecks nach aussen?
Zwerge dürfen seitenverkehrt stehen. Die genauen Gründe dafür kenne ich nicht, vermutlich hat Profilfreiheit auch etwas damit zu tun. Rechtsaufstellung ist jedoch nur in Ausnahmefällen erlaubt und wenn dies gemacht wird, muss zwingend ein deutlich erkennbarer Pfeil auf die Zugehörigkeit zum entsprechenden Gleis hinweisen.

Steht das Zusatzgleis um Herrliberg inzwischen zur Verfügung? Und was bezweckt dies?
Es dient als Wendegleis während der HVZ für die S16, so kann die S20 frei durchfahren

I cannot tell you what building or barn is for what and owned by who. We simply drive through the countryside and keep our eyes out on signals, tracks, catenary, train tech, speed, timetable... Only a few buildings alongside the tracks belong (or used to belong) to the railway, the majority is privately owned.
