    150/150 are excellent numbers for off the shelf parts and very correct assembly methods were used in both videos. Only worry for the guy who's a burnout king. Broken clutch Basket call be a disaster. The young new builders have great teachers at JP and I know you don't want any surprises for anyone.

    You guys should do a “budget “ build with a Softail Standard. $3,000 limit. Ergonomics, suspension, performance. Show how to plan out a budget build.

Only issue is that I can't find these installation videos/series anywhere on the entire CZcams channel. Are they still to be uploaded? If you could point me in the right direction it'll be massively appreciated! Cheers Patrick

  • @PotatoeJoe69
    @PotatoeJoe69 Před 2 lety +3

    I can't justify building a big twin. If I was gonna build a Harley to go fast, it'd be a Sportster. Those Sporty engines are way overbuilt, their bottom end can handle 200+ HP and last 100,000+ miles untouched, they're lightweight and they're just a way better architecture for power production, and it shows. They make a shit ton of power with a big bore kit and cams, and they do it reliably.
    Comparably, the price you spend on a big twin for the little return you get? It just doesn't seem worth it to me. Intake, exhaust, a cam and a tune is about as far as I'd go on a big twin.
    After all... That $35,000 Harley with $$$$$ worth of engine work to make 148hp, is still waaaaaaaaaaay slower than some bone stock Japanese 600cc bike. But you take a $11,000 Sportster and spend $3,000 on the engine, you're making more power than the big twin in a bike that's hundreds of pounds lighter for tens of thousands of dollars less.

    Would aftermarket fuel injectors make the bike better on gas

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  Před 2 lety +2

      No. The bigger injector is used for the increased engine capacity and output where the stock injectors won't flow enough fuel. A stock injector flows plenty of fuel for the stock engine.

    classic harley- underpower the bike expecting and banking on customers taking their bike to j&p cycles and or/zippers so basically you pay 23-26k for that fatboy then pay another 10k to make the power what should have come from the factory. Or you can just buy a triumph, kawasaki, indian, honda, etc and save the 10-15k and have a bike that will have less issues does the road

    Now that you spent $20k on cool-guy parts you snap the teeth off of 3rd gear because you now made the transmission the weak point in the drive train. But hey, you can afford another $5k for a Baker bulletproof trans, right?
