If you think Pokémon is a bubble, you don’t know the power of the Pokémon machine to draw in new fans…especially young children. The US cigarette companies are jealous of Pokémon Company (JK…or am I?). And a lot of this money comes from people who are ignorant of how cards work or what is rare than the other. They just love opening packs and looking at the cards.
That's why it's gonna crash. Once they realized all the cards in their collection isn't worth crap. That's when it collapses. No one plays it so the market is based on a loose fabrication of prices without performance stats to back it up. They're like beanie babies. Except the oldest cards are worth something
That last sentence you wrote is the exact reason it will.
@@TheBeast324347 a loose fabrication of prices without performance stats to back it up? 😂 Do you know what your talking about?
Pokémon is a COLLECTORS market we have never played the game you other TCGs that are 90% players could never understand a game that is the exact opposite! 💅
As a buyer/investor/seller (and not just collector) of Pokémon since 96, Magic since 94, sports cards since 85, and the first seller of many CCGs from Rage, L5R, Star Wars and various other Decipher games, comic books(US and Japanese), non-sports like 91 Impel Marvel, and too many other cards/CCGs to name here; I can tell you this:
Pokémon for 95% of its existence has been purely collectors (the 5% is the BW/XY era) that have deep ties to childhood sentimentality. That sentimentality has no price limit. In fact 99% of the trading card business has no bearing on what a card “does” in a game.
I don’t think there is a bubble with sealed Pokémon now but I definitely think there was bubble around 2020 and 2021 in vintage Pokémon
yep 100% agree with you, at least the new cards are way better art with the alt arts as well
Agree, but it also handled it's crash very well and has already reached those original highs, I could be wrong and it'll all crash again in a month but it's done astonishingly well for something that followed the timeline of a bubble
@@lostcausecollectibles nope most of the vintage stuff has crashed unless youre talking about the top 5% of cards /sealed product then no for example a psa 7 base set venusaur was going for 2000+ during 2021 guess what they going for now .....81 dollars lol or for example most of the trainer cards are more expensive then a majority of the vintage stuff most is around 1 dollar unless its a holo accept gym challenge for some reason some of those are 6 7 dollars a peice lol
@@thinsmcstash5352 yeah, they all hit all time highs and have come back down since then... They're all higher than they where and the more obscure stuff (not base set) is climbing. Look at gold stars for example. I bought a gold star mew for £200 in 2021 and sold for £500 like a week ago lmao, it really depends, if you just bought into the hype at the peak and followed the crowd you'll be down, if you bought solid cards that had room for growth instead of cards everyone has been buying and pumping for a year the outcome would be different.
@@thinsmcstash5352 I also state in my original comment that they crashed, they just seem to be recovering if they weren't the Hypebeast cards to buy lol
With the popularity of Whatnot and other streams, packs are being opened at an alarming rate. Booster boxes will continue to rise.
Yup. Imagine in 5 years the supply of these sets?
Every pokemon sealed booster box rises over time and EVERY SINGLE time it's a bubble, a conspiracy, irrational behavior, etc. It's comical!
^_-
These people must be Trump voters 🤨
@@christianmathew398 atleast they're alive voters unlike Bidens xD

@@RichyDYupYup glad you shut that socially awkward nerd up. “That guy” fails
you should see the prices of JAPANESE pokemon cards. used to be the affordable safe haven but prices have gone bat shit crazy
Japanese is the new bubble, give it a couple months
OCG has a good run right now. Get in while the prices are still reasonable.
Weird thing is the vintage Japanese cards still seem cheap but the modern Japanese cards are really expensive. Absolutely bizarre.
@@BlessedVet What's OGC?
@Monkey OCG cards are from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. TCG cards are English print, Portuguese, French and Spanish. OCG are much more beautiful and vibrant colors. I think that market is going to go up in price this year. I would get as much as I can. Shipping and product cost from those countries will go up. Hope this info helped. God bless
The Pokémon bubble already popped bro, it was 2020/21 and happened with mainly the vintage side but also with some of the more scarce modern products. Pokémon is absolutely fine now.
The simple fact is, if you buy a Pokémon product at or slightly below retail price, it _will_ make money in the long term because it _will_ go out of print and get more scarce, whether there's a slight dip due to a reprint or not.
Exactly ! Scarlet and violet base and paldea have some really good chase cards. These sets are huge in Japan and our singles usually follow their market.
Squirtle used bubble! It was super effective!
MTG fainted
@@o0QuAdSh0t0o lmao 😂
I like when you draw on your wall street experience and apply it to things we're into. That's why i keep showing up. thanks for the vid
Just did a prerelease for scarlet violet this weekend and the new pack change with higher rates of getting a hit is insane and made people buy packs even more
Solid analysis like always keep the Pokémon videos coming you're very entertaining!
Nee subscriber here.. love you and Opposum Bud!!!!
So you're saying there's no chance of Rudy's Pokémon bathroom 2.0?😢
I'm about to blow your mind my friend and maybe make both of us a lot of money too. Your comment made me say outloud "Man.... now its MTG in the bathroom.."
and you know what that means!
@@jonathanmorris7775 what does that mean?
All anyone needs to see is the Apple TV's Pokemon channel presence. Mind blowing how long game Pokemon is.
Lmao! I only think a few more people keep sealed products compared to earlier but everyone has a price so just stay long and everyone else will be flushed anyway.
@@monkey39128 The supply will become more splintered. It took longer than I expected to. I thought initially that Celebrations would've been what Evolving skies does currently. But I think if you have stacked some ETB's or Collectors Chests of Celebrations for a decent price, you can't complain currently. Don't be the guy selling tho. If you start selling now it wasn't worth the wait. We'll see in a couple o' years.
Imagine all of the major celebrities who follow Pokémon, streaming it, opening packs and such. Magic has one celebrity outside of Magic itself.
The waifu effect and tax mainly is a japanese card thing since u can find the same card in english for less. It used to not be that way but its exploded as of 2022, I say that since ive been buying those cards since 2019
"Waifu Tax" isnt what you think it is. Go watch opossumbud
You got a sub from me my friend!! Great content 🎉
Pokemon isn't a bubble, it's a game.
Exactly. The New stuff will tank for a period of time because of oversupply but not forever
It's also a collectible
My dad's not a cell phone.
@@AaronBruffett I'm not a part of your system!
can you imagine what would happen to the market if MetaZoo game designers start publishing well balanced sets for draft AND if they start using better art? I'm thinking Sorcery has a better chance of achieving this goal first based on art and gameplay.
I think it's too late for Metazoo. The owner's strategy is akin to a sweaty octopus trying to unhook bra.🐙
@@monkey39128 not sure about that analogy. Octopi (or octopuses if you're an English major), are so smart that they could probably find a way to unhook 11 bras at once.
@@magusofthebargain I'd pay to see that 😂
Thank you Rudy for the financial advice
People actually like Pokémon, they watch the anime, play and collect the card game, play the video games and enjoy the largest grossing cartoon franchise in the world
You love to hear it
Pokemon has been one of the most consistent increase in value over time out of a lot of card games and sports cards
Pokemon managed to survive Gen 4 -7 when it was dead in water and bounce back. Pokemon is never going away
Pokémon bulk being valuable is what seems to keep prices up on unopened product. I still don't find much fun in stashing sealed products but it clearly is a solid investment.
Interesting point. I myself and storing all my bulk for the day I’m bored and need money.
If it ends up being a bubble, the cool thing is that I can just open the packs and enjoy them for myself. I can't lose.
It’s got competitive play and trading involved as well, not just “selling” in general. I doubt Pokémon is in any sort of bubble right now. It’s just never been as huge as it is RIGHT NOW, because most grown folks weren’t open about collecting, buying, selling and trading Pokémon cards. Now that damn near EVERYONE is open and into it, it’s even bigger, don’t let that fool anyone into thinking that Pokémon wasn’t the biggest thing for years now. It’s always been BIG.
Remember seethers; pokemon makes 3-4 arts for some of their chase cards and they all sell.
Glad I bought all my SWSH Cases at $85/Box ,I'm enjoying this 🤑🤑
Good for you, i only got 2 Evolving Skies cases for 85 dollars a box, havent had the kapital to go Big In, but im sure buying up older products in the present 😏🇩🇰❤️
i think with scarlet and violet you will see that since pull rates for the ex cards is going to be super low and increase in price per pack will start biting. Silver tempest was probably a start of being too big of a set to try and pull all the cards for your collection. Me and my 8 year old are stopping at Crown Zenith which is a very fun set
just no.
most assets are in a bubble when bonds, stocks, real estate are overvalued since asset values are almost always cross correlated....except gold...and to think cards will go up if the major assets goes down will prove they are correlated in the end to a bubble.
Pokemon is a weird example, cards dont hold much value on playability but in VARIANT rarity, the most rare cards are pretier and they have colectors that dont even play just want to get the cool looking secret cards. Also, they have regular looking cards so players can enjoy the game
BIG PLUS: all of these cards come in regular boosters, so while collectors fetchs the ultra premium cards, players can enjoy an afordable game
watching rudy explain waifus in pokémon was da bess 😂😂😂
Ty
One other group are speculators in this situation who want to move their money to investments they still feel are higher growth. Take Evolving Skies at $400 for example. ES from $400 to $800 will possibly take longer than the Charizard UPC going from $100 to $200 (just an example here not saying this is what will happen). So, I think that's the reason why you see so many people take a lot off the table and realize gains when they think they might be able to do better elsewhere.
I agree with this
Alright - just chillen in my bubble with an Alt Art Lugia, I guess ..
can confirm, i didn't watch the metazoo box opening.. i have standards.
I'm so glad you brought this up. Its so stupid that people think this. Its the only TCG game that gives you the option of playing in person or online and pokemon has been around for 26 years. IT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE! It's only going to get more scarce as more people play and collect. Pokemon is the number 1 game in the world...the WORLD!
Don’t worry Rudy. I’m still holding on to my towers in time sealed boxes
I think TPC has been reprinting swsh all along, just not in booster boxes. If you think about it, they can get the cards into more hands by doing loose sleeved boosters, blisters, tins and ETBs at big box stores.
They have for sure, it has been a Goldmine for them, i i cant blame them, cause the products is good 😬🇩🇰❤️
Rudy what do you think about the base, jungle, and fossil sets?
Good ol retail investors, missing the early growth when smart money moves in, and calling a bubble 2-3 years after the bubble actually existed lolol
will the sun and moon era be even better, smaller print run and first time have tag team, alternate art cards and rainbow rare cards?
I guess Pokemon Evolving Skies sealed boxes to $1K+ 2 The Moon
Rudy talks pokemon!!! :D
Evolving Skies will go down as the greatest Pokémon set of all time eventually. Anybody that says it won’t is coping and didn’t buy it up when it was widely available.
Pokemon is the most valuable IP of all time. Pokémon cards are the number one collectible for that IP. It’s not going anywhere.
Thanks Rudy!
Did you know that in terms of human-Pokémon compatability, Vaporeon is the most bubbly?
I like this weekly timmys talk.
No Rudy, NOOOO!!
POKEMON CARDS ARE THE NEXT BEANIE BABIES!
wait, that's funko poops
It’s hilarious that you still have to explain this to Timmy’s
Pump and Dump evolves into Rudy ex in this gen of pokemon
The Alt Arts towards the end of Sword and Shield are really valuable. Even Battle Styles has a couple decent ones.
The Waifu cards help too. Any cards that increase in value... help the box price.
Everyone should take off their tinfoil hat and buy some Crown Zenith. While it's still new.
I would have trouble writing out the amount of cards with potential in the set.
This is probably more important then what I said. Top card PRICES:
Battle Styles: Tyranitar V Alt Art $70
Chilling Reign: Blaziken VMax Alt Art $178
Evolving Skies: Umbreon VMax Alt Art $606 / Rayquaza $200 / and more.. box is expensive for a reason
Fusion Strike: Gengar Vmax Alt Art $135 / Special mention to Espeon at $100 - I don't think that's it's ceiling.
Brilliant Stars: Charizard V Alt Art $100
Astral Radiance: Machamp V Alt Art $114
Lost Origin: Giratina V Alt Art $325
Silver Tempest: Lugia V Alt Art $165
Crown Zenith: Giratina VStar $120 - Release In January. Not as solid as the other prices.
No hat required though. People want the card(s)
My Pokemon investments from 2020 until today are still the best return I've had on anything ever. Japanese booster box storage is like printing money.
It's ok, Timmy...Pokemon didn't mean to hurt you. Go soak in your Mr Bubble bath and relaxe.
Stop talking about evolving skies, I have PTSD of me opening an entire box to find only an off centered jolteon full art and a couple of Vs lol
It's all a bubble.
Rudy owns 69% of The Umbrella Corporation and I'm here for it.
"Waffoo Tax"
Dont watch Rudy on a regular basic, but his knowledge on Wallstreet, and his way of explaining market swings, in the TCG marked, is worth Gold, this man knows his stuff, and i really love his way of entertaining us, its very informative 🧐🇩🇰❤️
And NO Rudy, you are wrong, 2020 - 2021 wasent THE Bear marked that is coming, it was only a little down turn, a small blop 😬
🎉🎉🎉
Staring at my evolving skies ETBs knowing these are never getting opened now lol.
And thats why it is due for a correction
I'm buying certain sets from The Pokemon Center directly for quality purposes. With prices being neck & neck in the secondary market, it's a no-brainer.
Rudy will soon join the waifu pokemon club. JOIN US RUDY!
Nice video 😅interesting 💩😎
I’d start buying Korean eevee heroes . Can’t beat it at $50
You can get Brilliant stars on the Pokecenter at $143 plus tax. Meanwhile, people are still buying at $170-$175 on TCG. Is the price going down gradually down on TCG? Yes, but still, that tells you something. The market is voracious.
Lol I have a TCGPlayer seller account and sold my Evolving Skies BB case for $2.5k, there are definitely people buying it up LOL
Scarlet and Violet Pokémon Bathroom v2.0! Let's do it :)
evolving skies to the moon
"Crash" is a harsh term when it comes to Pokémon. Its never going to outright crash unless the franchise itself stops. Its not like other card games because its audience is much bigger than all the others combined. But of course, there was the hallowed time from 2019-2022 when it went NUTS. That wasn't the norm at all, and I don't think we're going to see something like that again for a long time, but don't be mistaken, Pokémon is overall a safe investment and is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
Rudy, my gf said it’s not my fault I dump my cardboard load too early for too cheap
Anyone who has kids or been around kids today knows that Pokemon will be around for another 50 years at least. Its part of growing up and the only tangible thing kids really have in a digital world of you tube slime videos , social media and video games.
Dear Rudy, its pronounced why-fu. Have a nice day folks!
Hell I hope it is a bubble so I can rip all my sealed and buy anything I like that I don’t pull!😎👍🏼
I think people just find it hard to believe how consistent pokemon is at making people money. Every set ever has just gone up in price. You certainly can't find a set that was even printed 5 years ago for retail. You can't really say the same for other card games like magic and yugioh.
Why would they reprint sets that are still available at msrp on Pokémon center?
What's crazy about rusty is he has never sold out but I'm just a tom. Maybe I'm wrong I'm going have some burritos 🌮
Who is this person that said that pokemon is a bubble loool. I'm in the pokemon tcg community and there's just so so much hype and it just doesn't seem to die down.
to the moon
Dear Rudy what about the Outsiders situation, will you comment on that? :D
This dude's asking the tough questions
Why what happened?
@@monkey39128 people getting around 60 legendarys and 6 fabled per case (a case is 4 display ea 24 boosters so 96 packs)
HA! You've exposed yourself Rudy. You're clearly in league with TCGPlayer and the Pokemon Company. Time to dump your S&S boxes folks 😉
Sounds like toilet paper....😢
The Card market has been slowly deflating whilst inflation is rising
Whats that called
Giggity
Lol conspiracy theorists, surprised we haven’t heard it’s the government buying all the Pokémon cards
I don't know about a bubble but I could see things changing real fast if market took a huge dump. But good products will always be hot regardless.
People will be REKKKKKKTTTTTTTTTT :)
Pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world
Rudy, people equate the market to the health of most other markets during 2020-2023. Stocks, Crypto, and everything was pumped during this time period. For Pokémon; You can thank all of the influencers who bought Pokémon at absurd prices during a time of over printing. Not saying Pokémon will have an epic crash but it's possible after seeing most other markets. The shear amount of product in major retailers is insane, no one is buying them as I have been to the same Walmarts, month after month; I can only imagine sealed booster boxes and blister packs will hold value and accrue.
Though I don't disagree about the bubble, the TCG stores do communicate and then those that don't simply follow downstream. It's as easy as clicking send on a mass email with BCC.
If you don't believe this, then you clearly weren't around for the massive "pull out cards" prior to MtG unbans that was unilateral across all big TCGs.
GGT getting unbanned tomorrow? Look at that, a week ahead all stocks on this card that was never unbanned went to 0 and suddenly, the day of the announcement, it went back up to 100 units for every store.
Get real...
Can we get a dragon ball super tcg video?….. pretty please
To the moon
I still have about 10 packs worth of series one Pokémon....all opened at the shop back when they came out and nobody played it....one box would take the owner a week to sell by the pack. Only good rare a got was Venasaur..but ehh..still got it!😊
Do you think evolving skies will hit 1k or more a box?
The question's not if but when. And that goes for every set.
I hope so, I got 10 of them.
@@monkey39128 As long as there is no reprint, it could already be this year seeing the price movement and popularity of the set.
However, i do believe there will be a reprint as ES is only 1 1/2 years old, super expensive and still in standard for well over a year.
RUdy I want the world championship Pikachu with moraido and koraidon lol I was wrong Scarlett and violet to the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the state of the Pokemon franchise is in the gutter, but no, the TCG is probably not in a bubble. In fact, the massive spike we saw in SuMo was a market overcorrection, where people realized there are Base Set Charizards worth a few hundred bucks, when they realistically should cost thousands. Now we're behind the uptick, the prices are slowly coming back to normal, market is calming down. If they'd continue going up, I'd say it's definitely a bubble, because interest in Pokemon isn't actually that high. The games are garbage and the TCG is now garbage too.
games are garbage, but they still sell tons. pokemon to the mooooooon
Is it tin foil hat time again? Oh, boy!
