    What a great video that showcases what the long running distances german pinschers is made for! Me and my german pinscher also loves running maximum speed for hour after hour, however we only combine this type of speed with pulling me on cross country skiing, or on a kick bike in rest of the year when there is no snow. Earlier on this week we went on a 14 km ski trip for three hours, and he did not show a single sign of being tired, and he was super jolly and energized when we got back. In my experience it is impossible to tire out these dogs phsyically, however if I train him mentally with doing tricks and agility work for around 45 minutes, he is absolutely knocked out afterwards, so that is what we try to do the most of on a daily basis 😂

    My dog also loves running but I'm afraid of other cars even if we go out side the city. Anyway we run together to release her energy as well. Walking is not enough!

      No ‘only’ about it. In a Min Pin you have the best dog of all. Nothing to touch them in my opinion.

    Great video. Red GP's are so amazing. Most people say they don't do well off leash. You must have training your dog very well. I am hopefully getting one in a few months.

      Feed them well, look after them, and show them who the boss is. A dog like this will follow you all day long.

      German Pinschers actually do very well off leesh, just start training them at a young age and treat them well :)

    i was gonna get one of this dog, but now..... never mind..... I wouldn't be able to run with him everyday.

    • @johanvdauwera
      @johanvdauwera  Před 8 lety +4

      I do not run or cycle with the dog everyday. Two times a week is enough. I walk with her everyday without leash even though that is not permitted. She will however harm no-one including animals and I trained her to come to me when I call her. This all seems to work out just fine, but I must admit this is a high energy breed and I think I have a high energy specimen ;-) It is a fantastic dog but she needs to be able to get rid of that energy. I took a "red" one because they look less aggressive. The black and tan ones look more dangerous certainly if you cut the ears and tail. Then they look like medium sized though supercharged Dobermanns, though this is just the look. I hope you make a good choice. If you decide to take a dog and raise it well it can be a wonderful companion.

      Johan Van der Auwera I certainly can walk or jog with them, but i can't run with them THAT fast. And i live in the city, there's no chance I can let them walk without a leash, and i also worry about if i can train it right so it'll follow my order.

    • @johanvdauwera
      @johanvdauwera  Před 8 lety +1

      You are right. You know there is a smaller breed that is related to the German Pinscher, i.e. the mini pinscher www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/dogs-101/videos/miniature-pinscher/ They have the same kind of energy and are great fun too. They are however a bit more difficult to raise as people tend to treat the as a lap dog which is a mistake. They are however more suitable for the city.

      Also, I did not have any experience with dogs before but I watched some videos ans paid a lot of attention to Cesar Millan. I found out this took me a long way...

    Ik wil héél graag een duitse pinscher nemen... Echter, ze zijn redelijk zeldzaam hier in Nederland en helaas heb ik op dit moment een full-time baan. One day, though...

    Once a week?!?! I have to do this everyday. 3 miles rain or shine. The first mile is mostly as fast as she can go, which is also about as fast as I can go (on a bike).

    • @sabo7433
      @sabo7433 Před 8 lety +1

      Its really amazing to watch though, the language is different but I can see the same sorts of commands and reaction from the dog. I'll have to get some video one of these days.

    • @johanvdauwera
      @johanvdauwera  Před 8 lety +1

      I take her for a spin about 2 times per week, depending on the weather. She can run for at least an hour but when we are in the fields and she spots game like rabbits she will go as fast as she can. I have clocked her once running 40Km/h which is about the top speed I can do with my mountain bike. However when "jogging" at 18-20 Km/h she can run for a very long time. And she does not even get tired. The only thing to wacht out for is the temperature. When above 20°C she will also sprint but she will overheat. It takes some getting used to but once you know what the dog can do it is a lot of fun. You should see the look on people's faces when you pass them at these kind of speeds ;-)
