  • Located in the district of Guarda, it is the seat of a parish and is located in the southwest of the municipality of Almeida, to which it has belonged since 1870. The village is located at 750 meters in altitude, on the left bank of the Coa River, which surrounds it on the east and south sides and on a granite massif. The village is practically inaccessible by east, south and west. Its population is around 100 inhabitants and is quite aged. Its origin and historical evolution are related to the defensive functions of the national territory. The area dates back to the Neolithic and was lateroccupied by the Romans. It has three orders of walls and had an important military and administrative occupation.
